"Seize him!" Screamed my father as he arose from his throne. I quickly turned, head on a swivel, and began to bolt towards the exit to the palace. The corridor was longer than I imagined, the guards were going to catch me for sure. Just as they were about to pull their swords from their sheaths, my bird, Oni, swooped down from the ceiling where he was perched, and latched onto my wrist. 

"Oni, up!" I squealed as I felt the sharp tip of a sword brush against my back. Oni squaked in reply before hoisting me into the air at record speed. The sword sliced me a little on the way up but it wasn't a deep enough cut to draw a lot of blood. "Thanks bud," I said as he flew us both out of the palace.

Once we landed safely back at my shed I uttered the words, "Oni, shrink." Oni shrunk down to the size of a normal bird, I then lifted him into his cage and stroked his beak before locking it. Oni is a special type of bird, he has the power to control how big or small he is, I've never been able to figure out why he can do what he does but his power comes in really handy in some situations.

"We need to leave Oni," I said as I pulled the biggest suitcase I could find from under my bed. "Nobody on this planet wants us here." I began shoving clothes into it and any other valuables that I could find. "Where should we go? I was thinking maybe the moon, or mars, or-" I stopped. There was only one place that I knew my father would never think to look. "Lets go to earth!" 

Oni looked shocked as if he was about to be eaten by a wild animal. He squawked at me a few times and rammed into the sides of his cage. "You don't like that idea?" I thought for a moment. "I don't see why it's so bad! I mean, I am part human after all." I zipped up my suitcase and sat back to rest for a few minutes.

"We should probably leave now," I said, getting to my feet. I grabbed onto the cold handle of Oni's cage and lifted it into the passenger's seat of my spacecraft. Looking at Oni one last time, I closed my eyes. "Next stop, earth."
