11: 'I hope you're ready for battle. You better get on the saddle. We got some demons to tackle.'

All the humans breathlessly came to a halt, one of them screaming, “Bats? Where did these bats come from?” As the ‘bats’ kept relentlessly attacking, the humans began jetting out.

When a monstrous Gala, presumably an Infernal’s exposes their bony wings or tentacles or has unnatural forms, humans see them in the closest animal form they resemble. Usually, Galas that take beastly forms rarely appear in public, especially ones from Hell.

However, either the Infernals were pissed about something or wanted to be annoying to the Harmonies; it was Kate and Sara’s unlucky day, not just because the Diabolic Bats wanted to tear apart the humans but also because the mother of the Diabolic Bats blocked the Savemart’s exit.

Any person with powers flowing through their veins, they were called Galas, and they could see the true forms of any monster. Unlike normal humans, they are undetected by the naked eye from the Pulse of Deception, which the Choir had made when the human race became cruel to the Galas.

The Pulse of Deception is an illusion-magical system that, after looking away for five seconds from seeing a Gala in its true form or magic being performed, will block their memory of what they just witnessed. If the human kept looking at the Gala after the five seconds, they would remember, but eventually, once the person is dispatched or killed, the humans will completely forget.

The screech of the mother of the Diabolic Bats was ear-piercing. Everyone covered their ears. Several of the humans’ ears were bleeding after the Diabolic Bat stopped their raucous squall.

Then, the mundane panicked and rushed out of other places. The smaller Diabolic Bats flew around them, their claws yanking people’s hairs and clawing their faces. Screams of terror erupted.

The voice teased, “Some aggressive, normal-looking bats.”

“Shut up,” muttered Sara softly, grabbing a metal rectangle shape from her sweater’s pocket. She clicked a button on it, and a sword formed. She swiped her hand in the air, clutching the halt of her weapon, the blade glinting in the light.

She snarled at the mother of the Diabolic Bats who hoped to kill her best friend.

The mother of the Diabolic Bats tore away a big chunk of the entrance, too enormous to fit through the opening. She flapped open her bony bat wings, threatened by the Prowler with getting away from her target. She bellowed in a shriek, not able to reach Kate, and was rankled by Sara’s presence.

Kate exclaimed, hoarsely, “How the fuck did this monster get out of Hell?” She hissed through gritted teeth, feeling her fire sparks enlightening on her palms. Her frisson was once again in the air. The demonic beast’s bloodshot eyes glared at Kate. She screeched once again, the Prowlers covering their ears.

Once the monster stopped, Sara whirled around to her friend quickly, her blade lowering to the ground. The assassin’s heart was pounding with fear, but exhilaration flowed through her veins. “Kate, go save the humans and the Diabolic Bats; I’ll deal with this Gala!”

Katerina stated, “I’m the boss, remember?! Sara, go deal with the Demonic Bats, and I’ll go protect the humans!”

The Diabolic Bat spoke, but Kate and Sara only heard what sounded like a high-piece death metal note, with the singers screaming at the top of their lungs and the sound of glibblesh. The assassin always got a headache when the Infernals spoke in demonic tongues.

Knowing she had no time to lose, Kate remembered the code when Prowlers went on missions together. One would save the humans if they were imperial, and the other would deal with the irritating Gala.

Kate hurriedly ordered the humans to go to the other existing doors.

Turning to the Diabolic Bat, Sara lifted her sword with a smirk. She looked at the angered mother, Kate, throwing fireballs at her children and not being able to get them. The Infernal was swift when it moved, unlike the Anti-arches who were clumsy. It flipped open its red, bony wings menacingly, shrieking so loudly that it made Sara wince, and blood trickled from her ear.

The assassin darted around the beast like a vampire speed, slashing her blade through thin skin in which she could see black veins budge out. The Infernal had to be around this area, according to Sara’s assumptions, nestled in the darkest caves, probably in the thick of the mountain near the store. The mother sensed the infamous Katerina Dixon’s powers and hungered to get revenge for her master.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

How the monster recognized the scent of Kate and the urge to kill her would probably never be understood.

Sara had an inkling that the Devil had put these Diabolic Bats in the caves in case they were urgently needed. Yet she guessed the mother was thirsty for blood.

The bony wing flickered to the Prowler to knock the girl off her feet, but Sara gave a back flip, cutting half the wing off, carefully minding the blood. She didn’t feel like being caked in demonic blood two days in a row. The mother let out an analogizing scream. Then she inhaled, and inside the mucus of the throat, something big started to expand.

Sara flickered her eyes to where a few humans were still quivering, eyes closed and hands over ears. She assumed that whatever the mother was going to blast was going to go straight for Kate, not her.

Luckily, she read about this Infernal a while back, knowing it would take approximately thirty seconds to burst out hellfire from its mouth. Right now, the Demonic Bat’s skin was impregnable from its skin hardening like obsidian. Although the barely good news was that the mother was stagnant in the hellfire building inside of her.

Sara swung around and raced inside Savemart, ignoring Diabolic Bats ripping items from the shelves and knocking bigger shelves down. They fell with a heavy clamber, items spraying everywhere. Most of them were tearing into the meat packages and eating them.

The Prowler breathed out and looked at a frightened woman. She was one of the staff members of Savesmart because of her red vest and ID. Demanding as nicely as she could, Sara ordered, “Go! Get out of here!” She handed the sword to the woman if that would make her feel better. The worker grabbed it but immediately dropped it from its weight.

Looking at Sara’s hard gaze from dropping her sword, the worker scurried off. Feeling bad for scaring the poor human, the girl had no time to pick back her sword.

She bolted to aisle twelve, remembering seeing an extension cord wandering down the aisles. Sara skittered to a stop when she raced there, quickly looking for the extension cord. She found an orange one and ripped open the package. Dashing to the entrance, Kate was nowhere to be seen. She had to trust that her friend was safe and taking care of the people.

There were only ten mere seconds until hellfire would consume the building and the people in it, and Sara assumed Savemart had flammable things in it that contained gas. Racing with adrenaline and her pulse quickening, Sara threw the extension cord around the mother of the Diabolic Bat's neck, it wrapping around tightly. She yanked on the extension cord with all her might, turning the Infernal’s head to the huge parking lot with tons of cars.

As Sara kept pulling with all her might with both of her hands, she realized the cars had to be moved or they would go up in flames from the gasoline. Also, there was a damn gas station for the Savemart members. She groaned.

At least, fortunately, the parking lot was empty of humans; they had become afraid of the bats flying to this place and ran off.

She decided there was no way to not use her powers to stop the hellfire from coming and destroying everything. Sara should use her powers internally, but it was hard to practice with her mind.

Sara wrapped the cord around her arm, pulling with all her strength, and the beast’s head finally turned.

The Prowler yanked off her amulet from her neck, the necklace her father had given her. She hissed between her teeth, “Look what I have!”

The beast’s beady eyes glared at her, and the girl’s magical presence made the Infernal pause for a second. Then the Demonic Bat's mouth opened, and the hellfire fired away at Sara’s face.

After a good five seconds of blasting hellfire at her, it ceased, and the mother of the Diabolic Bat stared at the girl still alive. Sara smiled, raising the amulet; the demonic magic had poured inside it. She had used her powers to lock it into a jewel. The Infernal would take exactly five minutes to regenerate the hellfire in the sac of its throat again.

Sara tugged on the extension cord with all her might and tied the cord to a lamp pole. She then swiped her hand in the air again, and an ax appeared in her hand. The Diabolic Bat skin was now vulnerable to having to regenerate and not impossible to penetrate anymore.

The assassin leaped up and brought the blade down to its neck. She felt the ax slice through flesh, tissue, and bone. Black blood spurted out, but she managed to dodge it. The head fell on the parking pavement.

She landed on her feet with a sigh of relief, and in unison, her friend was running to her. Sara was pleased to have managed not to get a drop of blood on her.

Kate grinned, “Wow, perfect timing! All the bats are dead and gone.” She held the box of paper, the stapler package, and the snacks that Sara had grabbed. She also had a sword laid carefully on the box. “I think this is yours?”

She put down the box and handed the sword to Sara. The Prowler threw a fireball at the last Diabolic Bat’s body and head.

“Ah yes, thanks!” Sara grinned and breathed out, taking the sword gratefully. “That was fun!” Then she cleared her throat. “I mean, were any of the humans wounded?”

Shaking her head, Kate reported, “No deaths. Some will have to go to the ER, but there will be no evidence of the bats. I went to the surveillance room and hacked the camera, so that tape is gone as well.”

She smacked against her friend’s back, making her friend jump in surprise. “Good job. You managed to kill an Infernal unexpectedly.”

“And you! You had to save the people unexpectedly!” boosted Sara.

Kate’s phone rang, and she picked it up. “Hello?”

On the other line was Michael, but Sara couldn’t pick up his words.

“There was an incident. The Diabolic Bats created havoc at Savemart, but we fixed it.” Kate said, “I’ve called nine-one-one from a person’s cellphone...yes, I’ll explain when we come back.” She rolled her eyes dramatically, which had Sara giggled, her blood still pumping inside of her from excitement.
