ERROR

A potential user has demonstrated an inability or unwillingness to select alternatives. According to directive B32.2, dungeon assets shall be assigned randomly.

“Oh Jesus please, let it be chicken. I CAN'T deal with rats right now... and I'm allergic to bees”, the last line put Juliana in thought, she was certain to have died before this, but she wasnt that sure if her ailments would cross over as well, but looking at her red and yellow clothes did make her wonder the extent of how much this afterlife would go to punish her.

Monster chicken has been selected.

As the first room and asset have been picked, the initial Purification process shall start in… ERROR.

She white light from the core flickered until it fizzled out. The white void followed and all inside that otherwise white room darkened until it became black. Juliana felt a cold shiver down her spine, as if something unnatural was coming from all sides, she felt anxious, her breathing became quicker and her heart beating fast. She ran to exit the room, looking back all there was but a door leading to nothing, as if a wall of pure and dense smoke blocked the core room entrance. That felt ominous as her manager asking for her to wait after shift to “talk”, that never ended well.

What took her attention out of the situation was the familiar noise of chirping from the corridors of the slaughter house. Juliana followed it, curious to see them and to her surprise she did find the chicken she prayed for. But not the kind she was expecting at all. There were 3 chickens and 1 rooster, all of them were in the same room she found her makeshift weapon. Around the table with those gore remains the 3 large and fat chickens were busy pecking and scratching with their talons at the meat, while the rooster, way bigger and menacing stood just above it, looking at all sides, watching for any threat.

What did surprise Juliana wasn't the avians feasting on meat, her grandmother had some down her house and those things ate anything from bugs to their own eggs and dead chicks if you didnt remove it. God, she recalled one mean chicken that would hatch her eggs and kill her babies just to eat them, chickens are far from tranquil animals city folks think they are. What called her attention was the sheer size of the things, way bigger than what she thought possible, the things were twice the size of a grown turkey, and those were the females! The rooster was even taller, reaching almost at her breasts, and she wasn't a small girl, at 1.70cm (5’7’’ tall) it meant one of those “monster things" was at least 1 meter and half tall!

Although chickens werent openly aggressive most of the time, roosters on the other side could be mean mother fuckers for free, and look at the size of its talons wasnt encouraging. However, at this time juliana didn't really understood why would there be chickens down her own version of purgatory, and why would they need to be so big. It wasnt rocket science to link the facts: a weird place that resembles a terror movie, a rusty weapon that wouldn't survive many hits, humongous monster variants of animals and so on. That old show she loved, “Lost”, was a good indicator of what laid ahead. It sure wasn't reassuring.

The rooster didn't take long to notice Juliana staring at the flock, both locking eyes in a cold staring contest for long seconds, in silence, the chicken oblivious to it all. It only came to halt when Juliana felt a cold touch on her back, making her squeal and jump right inside the room. She jerked herself to see what happened and quickly taking a look at the rooster, sure of it to jump on her at he reaction. However the monster chicken paid her no mind, instead looking at the entrance she came from, it was blocker by the same thick smog she saw at the core room, this time however she could see as if something was revolving inside it, struggling against the shadows until it forced itself against something almost physical. It was horrifying.

From the thick smog, hands were scratching at a layer of something that didn't let whatever it was to cross into the room, akin to a membrane made of black smoke. A face pressed against it, forcing its way, trying to bite and tear at the resistance until it ceded. The unholy scene unrolled like a disgusting birth of what looked like an emaciated corpse, hollow glowing eyes, missing nose and covered in blood. The thing made way from the other side; it fell down on the ground in a wet noise, its body tattered much like a corpse. Juliana would have thrown up at the visage, had she anything in her stomach.

The thing convulsed on the ground, until the lingering black smog covering it retracted inside the body, as if regaining its strength, it began to lean on its frail arms and legs to get up. Juliana finally could see it all, a disgusting piece of bloated grey skinned man, devoid of muscles, but swollen like a drowned man.

The thing moaned and shambled, it's attention drawn to Juliana, slowly crawling to her. She however was at a conundrum, the bizarre monstrosity slowly coming closer, and behind her a humongous rooster that would rip her to shreds with his large talons and beak.

Juliana was no fighter, even with the meat cleaver on her, she froze. The thing coming to get her was stuff from nightmares, she couldn't find strength to react. She panicked, gripping a shaking piece of garbage against an horror beyond her imagination.

With all of her will she lifted the thing and made the blade descend upon its cranium. The thing stopped, the blunt blade lodged superficially on its rubbery head, but too weak to even crack its skull. Before the thing could get even closer, using the shaft for leverage to reach at Juliana's arms, she let go of it quickly and took a step back. The large meat cleaver however proved heavy enough for the walking dead to stumble and fall on its belly. The shaft hit the ground before the monster and it made the weapon free itself from the corpse, getting a good chunk of rotting flesh stuck on the blade as it was thrown to the side.

The horror moaned and tried to get up, but this time the rooster watching the scene surged in a quick motion, it's wings flapping fast to close the distance on the target. It's long talons sinking deep on the creature's shoulder, locking both of them in. That, however, was not just what the avian had to offer. With aggression surprising even the girl, the male chicken pecked against the creature's skull with full might, pieces of dead flesh flying all over the place until white bone was visible. Like a drilling machine the rooster kept it's relentless attack nonstop.

The dead however did not seem to mind all the damage on an otherwise vital point. In an unnatural way it jerked it's head back, its maw sure didn't have all teeth present, but it had a powerful biting force as it sank itself on one of the bird’s legs. Cracking sounds followed by a huge screech from the cock.

The tables have turned, yet it wasnt favorable for Juliana now as it wasnt before the monster's standoff.
