‘Notice’ Skill ‘Flow of Time’ has leveled up(0 - 1)

‘Notice’ Skill ‘Flow of Time’ has leveled up(1 - 2)

‘Notice’ Skill ‘True Sight’ has leveled up(0-1)

‘Notice’ You have gained a level(0 - 1)

Huh… I leveled up? Already? but I haven't used any of my skills yet? Unless they leveled up while I was sleeping? As I'm thinking about my levels I start getting dressed and heading down to the kitchen, on the way I pass by a window and see my reflection. I'm wearing scholar's robes, a gray/whitish cloak embroidered with patterns of eyes that seem to blink with the movement of the cloth. And like most Velorian I'm a little more than 2,10m tall and have near white pale skin, blonde hair and ice blue eyes. According to what I know of history, we Varian’s are an evolved form of a species known as Humans, and we were adapted for the freezing frost of the far north.

But it’s mostly seen as church propaganda since the only humans I know of are those found in archeological expeditions to the first layer. It is actually a hot topic whether or not they are extinct or just live so far away that we haven't found them yet, or maybe rediscovered?

Anyway as I entered the dining room I saw my mom being, rather forcefully, sat down at the table by the head maid while arguing about something.

“What! I said I could help!”

“With all due respect ma'am, last time you ‘helped’ we had to replace half of the kitchen”

“Come on! That was one time and it's … Oh hi there Eldrian, nice of you to join us”

Her attitude made a complete shift as she saw me and made a gesture to her right, it was the seat at the head of the table. Where either mom or dad would usually sit.

“Are you sure?”

I asked, it was unusual for her to give up her seat.

“Just sit there son, it's your aging day after all…”

The ‘aging day’ huh… after the ceremony there were three days where different celebrations were to take place, and first of them was the aging day. Where i was to spend time with my parents as they introduce me to the intricacies of the guide.

“...we managed to get a hold of a good path instructor. He will be showing up any minute and will be guiding you through your new abilities and hopefully helping you reach the first tier.”

But then again they have never been much for tradition.

“Really? Who is it? I thought you were going to introduce me?”

“We were originally but he was recommended to your father by one of his colleagues.”

”Apparently he’s really good, one of his mentees actually made it as a Paladin”

After that I could barely wait as I scarfed down my breakfast while trying to ask my parents what to expect from him. They were unrelenting though and told me nothing, saying that:

“It’ll be a fun little surprise”

It didn't take long after that for him to arrive, the maid that came with the news was nearly flattened against the wall as I ran down the corridor, rushing to finally get started with my skills.

After passing through several finely laid stone corridors I arrived at the entrance, seeing that no carriage was on the road. I was confused. Where are they?

“I see that we’ve got ourselves a eager one here”

I jumped at the voice as I turned around. There in front of me dressed in scholar robes the same as mine but with deep royal blue eyes was a man so old and frail he looked like he would fly away with the lightest breeze. His hair was so shriveled that he was practically bald, his bent stature making him barely 1,80 lengths tall. But none of that did anything to hide the aura of wisdom that surrounded him. the gentle wisps of words flowing around his form with every movement. almost as if he were the presence of knowledge itself.

“Tier four…”

“Indeed boy, it seems you have been taught the basics, I'm assuming this means we can go straight to the important stuff then”

He said as he started heading towards a nearby park with much more grace than should be possible.

“Ah, wait let me tell my parents…”

“Dont worry about it, i just spoke with them about what we’ll be doing, there fine”

I stared questioningly at… him. I need to learn his name. It had barely been a minute since I left my parents.

“Umm, when did you…”

“Didn't I tell you! Just now, and you really need to work on your speed if you think that's fast. By the way you can call me Verrod, and no I'm not older than 200 thank you very much”

I looked at Verrod in wonder as he answered all my questions, I hadn't even asked him half of them… Yet…

“How…”

“Did I know what you were going to ask?”

“Yes! I’d like to know”

“It's one of my skills, I wouldn't be much of a teacher if I couldn't understand my own students.”

“Wow… so you can understand what I want to know?”

“Yep, and no I'm not going help you sneak in to the women's changing room”

“I wasn't even wondering about that!”

“Yes you were, just not openly”

I grumbled as we reached the middle of the park and Verrod sat down on a bench. It was in the middle of summer and the Frost Gales were blooming all over the nicely trimmed lawn, each shining in a different shade of white and blue. Birds of all sorts of colors were chasing each other through the trees seemingly singing in harmony with nature. There was no one around in sight but me and the old instructor.

“This seems like a nice spot to talk in”

He said as he made himself comfortable.

“Lets not waste any more sunlight and start, tell me about your skills Eldrian”
