Chapter 06: journey

Uviz observed his companions walking ahead of him, heading for the southern exit of the city towards the mountain indicated on the map. 'But what's on that mountain? That place was always told never to come near, that it was dangerous.' In his thoughts, he searched for some explanation of what he had in that direction.

Uviz hesitated for a moment, but the urgency of the situation propelled him to follow his comrades toward the southern exit of the city. Sapphire Mountain towered imposingly in the distance, a majestic silhouette that inspired both awe and awe.

The group advanced on the outskirts of the city, and fields of crops stretched vast across the valleys, something somewhat rare in the desert that surrounded the forgotten mountains. The path unfolded before them, and silence hung in the air, broken only by the whispers of the wind.

As they walked, Uviz tried to recall stories or legends that might explain the mysterious aura that enveloped the Mountain. Vague memories of old tales flashed through his mind, but nothing concrete that could explain the connection between the mountain and recent events.

Uviz heard Teraz's voice: "Any thoughts, Uviz? It feels like you're far away." He looked ahead and noticed Teraz's worried expression.

Uviz shook his head, trying to dispel his speculations. "Just thinking about the stories I've heard about the Mountain and trying to relate them to current events."

Another voice came from the front, it was Sylvar, who was focused on following the magic lines on the map. "The answers we're looking for. Sometimes you have to face the unknown to uncover the truth."

The journey continued, and the surrounding landscape began to change as they approached the base of the mountain. The vegetation became scarcer, and the atmosphere took on a distinct touch, something different that Uviz couldn't identify, but seemed to make him calmer. The Mountain stood motionless before them, as if it held something else in its depths.

The group moved on, guided by the magic of the catalyst crystal. What awaited him on the Mountain was unknown.

After a long climb halfway up the mountain, something began to disturb Uviz, who began to look around him, looking for something, but even he didn't know what he was looking for. "Hey, you're feeling something strange, like you're watching us."

But no answer was heard from Teraz or Sylvar.

Teraz, at the front, seemed focused on moving forward, while Sylvar kept his attention on the map, following the lines that guided them further into the mountain. Uviz tried again to get their attention.

"Hey, something's not right. I feel as if we are being watched, as if the Mountain itself is watching us."

This time, Teraz stopped and looked at Uviz. "What do you mean, Uviz? There's only the three of us here, and the Mountain is just rock and stone, isn't it?"

Uviz shook his head, unable to fully explain the sensation. "I'm not sure, Teraz. It may be my imagination, but something's not right."

Uviz looked ahead and saw Sylvar approaching and began to speak. "It could be that the ancient magic of this mountain is reacting to our presence. We will proceed with caution."

Walking back down the mountain trail, Uviz could see the city on the horizon, and Sylvar's voice could be heard in the background: "Guys, over here." An entrance to a cave could be seen where Sylvar was pointing. "Let's go." Teraz was the first to enter the cave.

As they entered the cave, the light outside dimmed, and the atmosphere became denser. Uviz felt as if they were penetrating the bowels of the Mountain itself. The path ahead split in several directions, and the magic in the crystal seemed to pulse more intensely. Sylvar led the group deeper, following the directions of the map and the magical sensations that surrounded her. The cave narrowed in spots, requiring them to move carefully.

Teraz, who was in front, stopped suddenly, causing Uviz to almost collide with him. "What's up?"

He pointed to an aperture that emitted a faint bluish light. Uviz stared into a side opening in the cave, a narrow passage that led to a smaller chamber. "What you have there looks like!"

Sylvar approached the opening and analyzed the passage. "We'll investigate."

As they made their way through the narrow passage, the bluish light intensified. The smaller chamber revealed a profusion of magical symbols on the walls, emitting a soft glow. In the center of the chamber, a pulsating source of energy emanated a familiar aura.

Sylvar examined the symbols on the walls with fascination. "These symbols are ancient, much older than our city. It feels like we are in front of a sacred place, a point of convergence of magical energies."

Sylvar looked around, analyzing the runes engraved on the wall. Teraz, who was looking curiously, asked, "So what does that mean? Why is the Mountain acting like this?"

Sylvar looked up at the pulsating fountain. "This fountain is a manifestation of the primordial magic that flows through this Mountain. It seems that something has disturbed her recently, throwing her energies off balance and weakening the barrier that protects the city."

Uviz felt a shiver when he heard this. "So who's causing this disturbance?"

Sylvar nodded. "I don't know. I can say that the Mountain is reacting to an internal disturbance. We need to understand what happened and restore the balance, or the barrier will continue to weaken, leaving the city vulnerable."

Teraz looked at the pulsating fountain. "How can we do this? What needs to be done to restore balance?"

Sylvar took a deep breath. "We need to find out who created the barrier, in short, Raczata. But in order to do that, we'll need to find it. For now, let's go deeper into the Mountain, to the Heart, where the magic is most intense."

Uviz looked at Teraz, and they both nodded. They were willing to brave the unknown to protect their city.

Sylvar stood up and began to follow a passage deeper into the cave. "Come on, the road to the Heart of the mountain lies ahead. We need to act quickly."

The trio moved forward, guided by the ancient magic that permeated the Mountain As they penetrated deeper, the magical intensity increased, indicating that they were approaching the core of the disturbance.

They followed to where they observed a huge door decorated with runes and blue gems that surrounded the door. She was broken in, as if something had forced her out the door. "Strange, the door was broken as if something wanted to get out, not come in. But what could have broken the door?" Sylvar spoke with some doubt.

"Let's move on." Teraz ran into the chamber.

"Let's be careful, we don't know what might be here." Uviz admonished Teraz for his recklessness.

Sylvar watched cautiously, but his thoughts were agitated. 'But how can this happen? Where are those two? They should have kicked us out of their house by now.'

The room through which they entered was a chamber worked very calmly, walls well polished and decorated. The room had three more corridors that led to other chambers.

"Hey, y'all over here!" Sylvar yelled to get their attention.

"What's that?" Uviz spoke with a tone of astonishment.

The room they entered had a huge mirror with a giant table in the middle, on top of the table was a map that showed the entire continent. "What a weird map. It shows as if everything is a smaller-scale miniature of everything." Teraz spoke, looking at the map in front of him.

"But why is there a mirror here, and why is it so big?" Uviz spoke curiously.

"I don't know, but look around the map and the mirror. It has runes carved on the sides. I'd say that's a magical artifact.

"Let's go back, let's try another room," Sylvar said and began to return to the exit, heading towards the room they had come from. However, out of nowhere, a light began to shine on the map, and the mirror began to shatter. Where it had broken off, a spot appeared that none of the three of them recognized, and a huge gale began to pull them into the mirror.
