Change in POV (Bryson)
It has been around 4 months since I was brought into this world, and if you remember I saw something incredible, magic. I did consider that I was hallucinating and perhaps, the old lady, Cynthia had put meth in my food however that may not be that plausible considering my baby body would have died. So in fact, I’m alive and my first order of business is to try and learn how to do some magic spells. I think Cynthia should have a book that is able to teach me how to use magic, you know, magic for dummies.
So I then start my conquest for magic, and where it starts is the most challenging place of all. As I look ahead, I turn my head upwards seeing the long wooden bars. The place where Cynthia had placed me before went outside, I presume for food. This will be a high burden to get out of, as I’m in a crib. I then decide the best course of action may be just to try and climb the crib as a 4 month old baby. I grip the two wooden bars and slowly get higher and higher till I can see the other side. However as I im climbing, the wooden bars collapsed and I fell flat on the other side.
Huh? Turns out this crib was so old, all it needed was a baby to kick it and it would have fallen over.
Although I feel some pain, I grunt through it like a shadow warrior would and I continue my quest to go ahead and find the books. As I’m crawling I look ahead and I see two different rooms I can choose from. The answer to which room I was going to go in seemed obvious to me. One of the rooms had a load of insects and dust, and in fact I think I can see and hear Darude Sandstorm with the amount of dust inside. The other, which was just as dusty, looked like it had many books on the floor so I decided to crawl to that one.
As I crawled into the room, I picked up one of the random books on the ashy floor and started reading through the contents. I realised that although I don’t understand the words explaining what the magic do, I do understand the spells. There were spells such as fireball, waterblast and so on, but if I correlate this to any isekai story I’ve ever read, the most important thing I should be doing is expanding my mana capacity, but do they even have something like that here?
I decide to read some more books and maybe even do a spell before I try and do that. I pick up another book and get to reading again, and I realise that on the starting page it has 6 drawings on it. I can make out what I reckon I think it would mean, one picture for water, fire, earth, wind, light and dark. So I guess in this world there are your typical 6 elements. After looking at the book for a while I decide I'm going to do the spell, “fireball”.
Oh how funny must I look right now, a 4 month old baby practicing magic. I turn around facing the entrance and exit to the room and I see a yellowish bat shaped creature. It gives me a bit of a fright but I decide just to use it as target practice. So first I stand up, as well as I can, leaning back on a stool to give me some sort of support for my back and then I lift my hands in its general direction. I can feel my tiny legs wobbling but ignoring them I close my eyes, and visualise a fireball. First I visualize the fireball in my head and I imagine it going out of hands, by the time it reaches my fingertips I open my eyes and to my astonishment I see a small ball of fire and it shoots across to the creature and oh it looks like I missed it and… oh, I feel a bit dizzy. I don't know why but I can't think straight. Perhaps Cynthia really did put meth in my food. I slowly rock back and forth till my body collapses, while laying face flat on the floor I think I hear the door opening.

Change in POV (Cynthia)
As I leave Bryson in the crib, I walk out of the cottage and go ahead and step into the forest. I have started to slaughter enough animals to feed the two of us but to me that is an easy task. I creep through the forest making sure not to alert animals where I am. I see some bushes ahead and using my abilities I am able to see the creature that is in front of the bushes. I decide to use a noise cancelling spell and go through the hedge..I look ahead and spot a Geri, it seems to be the same size as the one I saw with Bryson. This will be an easy kill, I think to myself as I painlessly slash its neck with my sword. Huh, now that I have Bryson living with me now, It reminds me of younger days. I remember back when I had my awakening, something that opens your locked mana cores and allows you to freely use magic. Of course it would be at the smaller spells at the start but with wisdom and time people will slowly learn better spells. The normal being would have it at around 12, but me being the prodigy that I am had it when I was only 4 years old. I remember the joy I felt that day. Normally after the awakening most people would faint on the basis that their body wouldn't be able to adapt to the change so quickly. Being as old as I am, I’ve heard legends of people forcefully unlocking their magic cores by conducting a magic spell while they're young but theoretically that is impossible so I do not believe this would work.
After I’ve butchered the beast, I decide it would be best to carry it to my home and cook the meat then so I can keep an eye on Bryson while cooking, I don’t even know how I had gotten so attached to the kid but I’ve slowly become more of a parent figure to him and now my days are filled with more joy than they have ever been before. Taking care of him, watching him say his first words which were, “die you asshole” were so emotional.
But as soon as I see the cottage door I drop everything I'm holding. What I see is a zombat, a yellowish creature that is highly attracted to fire. Behind it I see the cottage burning, I don’t understand why it’s burning but right now I don’t care, I have to get rid of the zombat quickly.
I run up to it and backhand slap it so it flies into the sky, I turn behind me and run straight into the cottage and look for Bryson. OH NO it looks like he has collapsed. I rush right over and put my hand over his chest and oh he’s breathing fine. I quickly get out of the burning cottage, but something is strange here. A Zombat doesn’t know how to use magic and is more a melee creature so where did this fire come from? Well in any case I guess I should take care of Bryson first.
