Tobby Smith, a scientist in his forties, is a family man living a peaceful life. In the year 2300, humanity is soon faced with its impending end due to unstoppable global warming. Tobby Smith is concerned for his children as the end approaches rapidly...
One ordinary workday, some astronomers hand him a rare sample discovered from a meteorite impact, a fragment never seen before, marking a first for humanity. Tobby was eager to discover where this "thing" came from, so he studied it as quickly as he could...
"Wow, I can't believe it, this thing is described as a celestial object from another dimension, maybe a message from a UFO or something."
"Huh?" said his colleague named Laure.
"It's a damn rock from another dimension, Laure," replied Tobby.
All of this had to remain entirely confidential, but that same evening, Tobby had taken the stone to his house, even though it was strictly forbidden... He read through various books all night, but nothing matched the fragment. However, Tobby had advanced knowledge in astronomy, philosophy, etc. He knew what he was talking about... His sole objective was to save his children. He then had an idea that might seem foolish but turned out to be brilliant: he meticulously cut a tiny piece of this rock. He discovered it emitted spontaneous energy literally from another world, yet the stone had physical characteristics similar to our world, with only its energy being different, which led him to infer the existence of parallel worlds or something similar...
"I have a very specific idea... What if I tried to go back to where this fragment came from..." said Tobby as he headed to his workplace.
As soon as he arrived, Tobby greeted all his colleagues, including Jay, his best friend and astronaut, who had come to observe the stone in turn.
"Where's the stone, Tobby?"
"Oh, uh... Don't tell anyone, but I took it home to conduct my own research," whispered Tobby.
"You really are something, but trust me, I don't want to study it; I think it's a danger to our society."
"Far from it, it could save us after all. I have an idea, but I can only implement it at home," said Tobby as he placed the stone directly into a "bubble."
"By the way, I called you to have this stone placed in a mass spectrometry and isotopic analysis laboratory, but you never answered. The army will be on your case..."

"Oh, I don't care because I took a piece of this stone that barely measures 1 millimeter..."
"Well, I don't know where this will lead you, but if it makes you happy..."
The army had directly retrieved the fragment from Tobby, but he still had a tiny sample at home... He would make discoveries. Tobby went home immediately, intending to stabilize and concentrate the stone's energy into a single point to pass through it.
He then built a "portal" with iron bars and numerous components: phase emitters, quantum conductors, dimensional flux modulators, exotic energy transducers, dimensional stabilization relays, resonance amplifiers, hyperspatial capacitors...
Tobby would use hyperspatial capacitors to store and release large amounts of energy according to the portal's needs. The energy drawn from the stone proved to be infinite and inexhaustible... Now, he had to pass through the portal, and the fear was immense...
"For humanity..." said Tobby before entering.
Tobby immediately inserted his arm and felt a cold space, as if it had indeed led him to another world... He then passed his entire body through the portal, leaving it behind, though it remained visible.
"Wow... I did it," he said.
The new world Tobby discovered was incredibly vast, an infinite space with spatial dimensions identical to our world, as we know it, and this portal could lead to various parallel spaces...
"Parallel worlds do exist, and I see it here... A world with the same physical proportions, where time and space are directly correlated..."
Tobby had achieved his goal, landing in a parallel universe where he saw his house and the same Earth.
However, he soon felt turbulence and saw an identical portal appear—it was himself. A version of him from another dimension had had the same idea. The number of "time travelers" could significantly affect the cosmology of worlds as we know them... Tobby passed back through his portal but did not appear in the world he expected... No, this time, the world where he appeared existed on a far higher plane of existence than the usual world. Tobby could perform additional movements and was infinitely superior to the "basic" model. He even had dimensional energy concentrated within him, capable of great things. He spent time before returning to our world, able to change his dimensional nature, going from a three-dimensional being to one of infinite dimensions... He experienced various states of dimension, saw some worlds as fictions, stories, and was capable of modifying certain concepts and aspects of a world before finding his way back to our world...
"Finally... I need to sleep. What I just saw is too much for me, and everyone must be worried. Fortunately, no one discovered the portal in the library," said Tobby as he went to bed.
The next morning, Tobby absolutely wanted to inform humanity... But all of that will be revealed in the sequel.
