Day 8.
Now, since I’ve survived a whole week here, why not start a diary?
So far, not a single dangerous encounter, other than that time I nearly got injured by a log, falling from Elisot’s - my shelter giver's - house entrance. Oh yeah, for the ones reading, Elisot found me in a desert a week ago, took me to her home and now is guiding me around. I managed to make myself a decent bow, but still got no proper arrows, so I have to cope using just tree branches for now. But no wonder that I can’t hit anything. How do you expect me to hit a target with a curved thing that can’t fly straight? Guess I got no choice for now. Anyways, Elisot looks a bit younger than me, but still, she’s caring like an older sister. As far as I know, she’s a potion brewer, and has great knowledge in plants and potions. Yesterday she even taught me to make a drink using her own recipe - “citrus bliss”, as she likes to call it. It’s amazing, not gonna lie. Haven’t drank anything that good during my whole previous life. She promised to take me to a close quarters combat specialist tomorrow. He’s an adventurer, if I recall correctly. And yeah, I really need to train in this sphere. Haven’t held anything bigger than a kitchen knife in my life, and here, looks like I’ll have to use something big to defend myself. It’s wild west here, a shit ton of disgusting hostile creatures wandering around. Elisot’s house is very close to the White Wilds, as this desert is called, so we’re never safe. Elisot’s really good with operating a bow though. I’ve seen her hit an around 30cm plate from over… 200 meters. Even Simo Hayha would be jealous of her skills. Elisot’s proud, but at the same time kind of shy. Or just humble. These two traits combined add some… not sure if it’s the correct way to say it but it adds some flavor to her. For example, what I’m talking about is that she won’t take if someone insults or offends her, but at the same time, she can’t take compliments either. I even decided to compliment her looks, to see her reaction, and she just tried to avoid it. I mean, don’t get me wrong Mr. Reader - she indeed is pretty, and her simple hairstyle is nice too. Though, if I were to judge, I’d say that she really needs to pump up her confidence and to learn to take compliments properly. Okay, now to describe this place where I am: It’s pretty plain. Where Elisot’s house is, there’s a swamp in what i would guess is two kilometers, and the White Wilds in around five. Not a single animal around, so Elisot has to go to the nearby city to buy food and such. Thankfully she’s got a horse, otherwise it’d be really hard and time consuming. Ah, right, I’m gonna have to learn to ride a horse too. Gotta say goodbye to my balls… Hopefully not. Important (not really) notice: I found out that my phone, which was refusing to work in the desert, works as intended outside of White Wilds. Probably there’s some magnetic iron ore that makes electronics act up. But why do I even care? My phone’s already dying, and even if it didn’t, I still can’t use it since there’s no mobile network. What else would you expect from a place stuck in the medieval era? Luckily, Elisot has a ton of books on various topics, most of them being classifications of plants and creatures. Unfortunately, there’s a goddamn ton of deadly creatures, some of them being huge centipedes, truck sized spiders, stone, fire and ice golems, and something like an underwater dragon. Goddamnit, how do people even survive here? Judging by the local fauna, it’s gotta be literal hell. That’s why I want to master close quarters combat and learn to properly defend myself. Why won’t tomorrow come sooner? Even though time here feels like it passes faster, this evening, for some reason, decided to stretch for unnecessarily long time. Well, I’ve got nothing to add now. Not sure if I’m gonna write here every day, but I’ll try to do it at least once a week.
