With Maya held to my chest, I timed my jump and clung to the ladder as it swayed in the wind. As the ladder started retracting, the mysterious figure eliminated our enemies, one by one. As we climbed onto the deck, the scientist welcomed us with open arms, embracing us in a warm hug. It was a surreal feeling of peace and being held by a motherly figure. Tears started pouring down my face uncontrollably, and my cries filled the empty chambers of the ship, followed by Maya’s. The scientist began stroking our hair while singing a lullaby. After a while, Maya fell asleep, snuggled against me. Annie looked at me, searching for permission. I placed Maya in her arms and expected her to cry, but she didn’t. She just snuggled against her chest, making adorable sounds as Annie carried her to a small nursery, settling her in a baby bed and snuggling against an enormous teddy bear.
