Aaron- Part one

Professor Barkley told me about this building with a wonderful spot for studying which had an amazing view on the second floor.

Aaron was currently standing outside of a three story tall building that was more height then it was length and width. It had few windows facing the street and looked like a historical building from the aged bricks that made the building itself.

Walking up to the front door he gently grabbed the door knocker and clanked it against the door twice before waiting for a response.

"Enter." It was one word and the man saying it sounded stern and old. As Aaron entered his hearing would prove to be correct as he was face to face with an old man sitting at a desk in the entryway. He was currently standing looking down at documents scattered on the table. The man was short, barely reaching five foot, and walked with a simple wooden cane. He wore light colored khakis and a simple white t-shirt with black suspenders. Aaron stood silently waiting for the man to acknowledge him and after a short minute the man looked up from the table with a scowl on his face.

"Are you going to introduce yourself or should I show the second use for this here cane?" The man said while raising his cane and gripping it like a bat. Aaron taking the gentle threat with seriousness introduced himself to the man.

"My name is Aaron and Professor Barkley sent me here to catch me up on the material I missed over the last two weeks in his class!" Aaron talked with haste and reading the old mans expression added in one more word "Sir!" Hoping to ease the old man.

"Good. Go up one floor on this here staircase and it will be the only room there. Enter and you'll figure out the rest yourself." The old man's face seemed to fall at realizing the reason for the boy being here but quickly ends the conversation before Aaron can bring it up. Sitting at his desk and lifting a book to cover his face.

Aaron takes the hint and begins to ascend the stairs while taking in his surroundings. The stairs are a dark oak with a simple metal railing screwed into the wall. Getting to the top of the first flight after about 20 steps Aaron notices the stairs round 180 degrees and continue to go up but his destination is on this floor. Straight ahead of him is a yellowish-orange door with a dark metal handle. Aaron walks up to the door and grips the handle, it is warm to the touch like it is used often, and as Aaron turns the handle it gently screeches tingling Aaron's ears and showing the handles age in the process.

Pushing the door open Aaron is greeted with a room that would make any knowledge lover stay for hours. The surrounding walls are carved with indents and turned into bookshelf's. Taking note of the books the shelves are completely full and couldn't house one more book if anyone tried to stuff one anywhere. There were a few small desk around the room. Light and easy to move if needed and at varying levels. The room was mostly comfy and accepting of the long study session Aaron had ahead. Except for one detail. The only chairs available were cheap metal folding ones. Not the most comfortable thing in the world.

Getting distracted by the books Aaron dropped his backpack with school supplies in it and decided to start looking around to see if he recognized any of the titles. Simply reading the spines but not pulling any out.

'The Art of War By Sun Tzu'

'Moby Dick By Herman Melville'

'Animal Farm By George Orwell'

"So many books from varying levels and areas around the world." While looking there was something for everyone. Even a copy of the very hungry caterpillar. Books that anyone could read at any age or level. One for everyone.

Aaron spent a few minutes walking around when he heard a thud by the door. He went to go check it out so he reached for the door and tried to open it only for the handle to be jam stuck.

"Hello? Old man is that you? I think the door is jammed!" Aaron voiced his concerns and kept trying the door but with no luck it didn't open. Shortly after a note slid underneath the door.

Aaron looked at it and picked it up, "Very funny. Now can you let me out instead of sending a letter." As Aaron said that he open the letter and read the contents.

'Welcome quest subject to our studies on the human mind. Today we will be tasking you with a short series of task. Complete that series and you walk free.'

As Aaron finished reading the note a book fell off of the shelf. One he never recognized before and for good reason. It was crummy and falling apart. The spine was falling apart and it didn't even state an author.

'Tips for escaping this damned room'

"Who the fuck calls a book this?"
