The Rise of Gin: The Depth
Oichester District 4

Oichester District 4

Gin stepped through the door onto cobblestone streets in the middle of a city with a cloudy blue sky and warm sunlight. In front of him sat a dark-skinned man with three eyes. Gin felt when the man’s mind touched his [Awareness]. The man’s psychic ability allowed him to read his mind, but there was one problem. Gin’s mind was the core of his [Awareness], which was like a wall of muscle, and if he wanted to, he could crush the man’s mind. The man’s third eye widened and then closed. Gin felt the power disappear, and the man immediately apologized.

“I’m sorry, lord. I will never attempt to gaze upon your mind again.”

Gin sensed that the man’s psychic ability ran on Mana. On second thought, Gin’s ability didn’t seem to need Mana. His [Awareness] took in everything, and everyone with a psychic ability gazed upon his [Awareness], found themselves inside his sphere of control, and bowed in apology.

“Umm, no offense taken. You don’t need to bow. I didn’t do anything to deserve such respect.”

Gin drew in his [Awareness], and the psychic people lingering by began to dismiss themselves.

“My Lord, My name is Rammir from the house of the Third Gaze. Welcome to the inner district of levels 10-30 of Oichester. If you ever need anything, our house is in the second district.”

“I’m not a lord. My name is Gin. So the highest person level is on level 30?”

“Of the adventurers and the climbers, yes, but be careful with the shopkeepers and vendors. You’ll see them every time you return. What Tower do you hail from, uh, sir?”

For some reason, the man seemed to doubt that he was a lord and avoided eye contact at all costs.

“The Tower of Mnepires.”

“Very honorable, sir. Are you a climber, then?”

“I’m looking for the adventurer’s guild.”

Rammir stamped a silver taken and handed it to Gin.

“Embue a small amount of Mana into the symbol, and the map of the City will imprint itself in your mind. There is no need to pay anywhere you wish to go. This one is one of the houses of The Third Gaze.”

Gin nodded. He didn’t want to say he would visit because people with psychic abilities were like mages except a lot more dangerous in dark alleys and crowded streets scheming from a distance. If Gin couldn’t shield his mind, Rammir would have free reign to learn all his secrets. These people were dangerous, and he wanted nothing to do with them. Gin dropped a gold coin on the counter.

“The adventurers guild.”

“Oh, that’s right around the corner. Anything you need, you can find me here. My uh. Sir.”

Gin bowed and walked away, shaking his head. He then realized that the man never moved his lips, and neither did he.

“Was that Telepathy?”

Gin looked up and realized The Tower City of Oichester was on a mountainside down to the flat plains, and further, buildings challenged the mountain beside it through size alone. There were stone buildings the size of skyscrapers, and the city gate was at least a hundred feet tall. People of all different races strolled about their businesses, wearing armor and weapons of all sizes—carts, and wagons pulled by Fewgels, giant lizards, dogs, and even insects. Even within the chaos, the street had an order on the left where people descended the streets, and on the right were people ascending.

The Adventurer guild stood large among many buildings. Over the entrance was a black shield with a red stripe across the center. Beneath the shield, it said Guild of the Southern Shell. The doors were at least twelve feet tall. Gin climbed the steps to meet a receptionist at the guild’s front entrance. Her skin was the same color as Gin’s dark brown, except she had a coiling horn behind her ears. Gin touched his forehead to check if his horns had grown. The receptionist smiled.

“My name is Araza. Welcome to the Southern Shell. How may I help you today?”

Gin smiled back nervously.

“I’m here to sign up as an Adventurer.”

“Oh, that’s a surprise.”

She pulled out a paper.

“Write your name, class, level, and race here and here.”

Gin looked around.

“That it?”

Azara laughed.

“You made it to the fourth floor. We’re not all assholes. Just hand me your badge, and I’ll give you a new one.”

Gin handed her the badge the guy at the entrance had given him. The receptionist handed him a bronze-ranked badge and a bracelet that seemed to be powered by his internal Mana. Then, Gin saw his account, which had nothing inside.

“While climbing, if you find any adventurer badges, return them once you’ve reached the twentyth floor. You can use this badge to store tower credits. You can trade in magical items, potions, and monster parts for tower credits. This book is the Monster Compendium of the Guild. The guild will pay you to hunt these monsters and any items you find on your way up; please study. It might make you rich if you are strong enough. Monsters outside the City are in chapters eighty through two hundred. Please sign this sheet here to say that you got them.”

The receptionist checked a few boxes and then smiled.

“Now, would you like to pay here, or do you have any monster corpses, potions, weapons, armor, or magical items you want to sell and trade for credits?”

“Yeah, I have a few.”

“OK, enter room number three, and a [Broker] will be right with you.”

Gin thanked her and walked down a hall into the third room. The room held a couch and a table the width of a queen-sized bed and twice its length. He immediately began by opening his spatial compartment and pulling out several Bullrat body parts, the bodies of the four Trench lurkers, the massive head of the Carrion Giant, and some of the Dwarven weapons he found in the armory of the Dungeon in Ekril. Several frog corpses and the brain and the heart of the Lullaby Verdrink. Gin sat down, and the couch felt as soft as clouds. A few seconds later, a little blue man with snow-white hair appeared. He landed on the table and took in everything as if it were beneath him. Then he paused at the Carrion giant’s head.

“You killed a Carrion giant.”

The man looks around.

“The name is Finser Thornvale. Nice to meet you; where is the rest of your team?”

Gin lied on instinct. He didn’t want anyone taking any interest in him. He’s read that book.

“They’re getting something to eat and, you know, sightseeing.”

“This is quite impressive. Do you have the rest of the body?”

“Yeah, but it wouldn’t fit in here.”

The Finser waved it off.

“We’ll have you drop it off in a different room. Trench Lurkers: nobody wants to hunt these things because they always get ambushed by them. There’s a theory that they are psychic, so they don’t hunt by scent, which makes them too much trouble for normal adventurers. They’re a gold rank problem. Bullrats, if you have more, we will take them.”

The [Broker] stared at the monster’s heart for a long time and skipped it.

“Mythril? Are you sure you want to sell these? What was the name of your team again?”

Gin’s mouth fell open.

“Yes. I have more set aside for my armor. Uh, my team is the Shadow of Wings.”

The [Broker] repeated the name as if he were chewing it over.

“The Shadow of Wings. hmm.”

He looked at everything a second time and then smiled.

“Vampire?”

Gin’s eyebrows rose.

“My eyes?”

“They’re usually an indication that you are a lordling. Vampires can also see in the dark, and some can even read minds.”

“Well, I’m not! Not that I don’t like vampires. I’m just not a vampire.”

Just then, a lady entered the room with a glass filled with red liquid. The [Broker] waved her way using a hand signal. The lady nodded and turned around.

“I apologize for making assumptions. All of this counts up to thirty thousand credits. Suppose you have the body of the Carrion Giant. That’s an additional fifteen thousand.”

“You didn’t say anything about the heart.”

Finser turns to look at the heart again.

“I don’t know what it’s from, and that is a first. Do you have the rest of the body?”

“My storage was full, and it’s way too big. Oh, I have its antennae or something like that. It used it as a lure.”

“Like for fishing?”

“Yes.”

“Tell me about it.”

Gin talked about the place and skipped the puzzle, only focusing on the frogs and the monster. He made up the names of Lily, an earth mage, and Stanley, an air rogue. The [Broker] listened with wrapped attention, and afterward, the [Broker] grinned.

“Lullaby Verdrink! Now, that’s too much to believe. We need a truth stone and an expert monster hunter in here.”

Gin stood up.

“Pay me for everything here, and I’ll hold on to the heart and the thing. I need some sleep, a bath, and some new clothes. You get your people, and I get my people, and we can meet here in, let’s say two days.”

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

The Finser, the [Broker], smiled as if he caught him in a lie, but Gin gave him a get your hand out of my garbage look.

“You like politics, don’t you?”

Finser frown.

“Excuse me?”

“Nothing.”

“Cheating someone like you might hurt me more than it would hurt you. I’m too old to play games like that. If this is real, we will have to hold a private auction. That would be one rare Item. Not even the Third Gaze would ever sell such an item.”

The [Broker] paused.

“Are you affiliated?”

“No.”

The Broker sighed.

“Good. Very good.”

“I don’t want my name in the news. Can you make me anonymous? Oh, and can it be traded for a magical item?”

“Oh indeed. The auction house of Oitchester is at your service.”

Finser bowed. Gin bowed back.

“Thank you. OK, show me where I can drop off the rest of the carrion giant.”

“Room number five, and your credits will appear in your account now.”

Gin decided to study the books. Forty-five thousand credits made his head spin. He wanted to smile, but the vampire thing was just out of left field. He looked into a puddle and checked his canines, which were long but not for a vampire.

“No fangs here.”

The credits popped into Gin’s vision and disappeared like a notification.

Gin walked into the first Inn he could find, paid for a three-week stay, and crashed.

Who will you be? Defeat five opponents using a specialized fighting style to add to your skills and abilities.

Gin awoke to the sunlight dipping under the horizon. He read the prompt and realized that he had already created his technique with his claws. He could find something that would add to his fighting style. The sound of carriages and animals outside gave the surroundings a relaxing air of people going about their lives. The room was the size of an apartment with a Wooden Tub and a shaving area. He then remembered that he had no clean clothes left.

He sighed and opened his spatial compartment. He removed several waterlilies, the white crystal core to absorb it and find out what it did to his body carefully and what type of abilities the other stones he found in the box were. He locked the window and absorbed the white translucent crystal core at a crawl.

The energy ran through his veins and settled beneath his diaphragm. Into something he should have taken the time to notice. It was a Well of untapped power with stars and a blazing sun. Everything he saw showed him potential; his potential for water magic was a lake of magic, the dirt was earth magic, and the green was plant magic. When he looked closer, each star was a spell he knew, which weren’t many. The more he absorbed, the more he realized that this was pure Mana and could refill all of the energy in his Well.

He inhaled, filling his body with heat and following the natural energy. The heat gathered in the same place. Gin touched one of the waterlilies and slowly absorbed the Orange energy. That’s when he understood that the water lily’s energy was for his muscles. It seeped into his muscles, causing them to rejuvenate faster. He felt less sore.

Gin began to guide that energy through his whole body. He tried to introduce psychic energy, but the energy went to his mind. He felt when his [Awareness] grew like tiny particles of dust evolving into the sand, the psychic energy became a part of his [Awareness], but this time, he could hear the people in the next room and feel where they were and if he focuses he could see their features through his ability.

Gin immediately drew back his [Awareness] to avoid seeing what was happening in the following rooms. He exhaled after two more hours of absorbing energy. He opened the box, and the blue, silver, and clouded white stones sat there. Gin recognized the white stones as cadenced natural ambient Mana, but he wondered what a natural ambient magic spell would look like. Gin ingested the stones, and he tried to see what the stone did to his body, and then the magic exploded.

[spell…

Gin’s eyes opened, and he spat out the silver stone. He stared at the stone. Each stone matched an affinity. His body didn’t absorb the stone because he had no particular affinity for silver. The white stone seemed to amplify his spells, so they evolved to the next level. He looked at his hand’s new spells he couldn’t wait to try.

He dropped the stone into the box, decided to hand-wash his last pair of clothes, placed them by the window, and flowed into his morning Kata while creating needles with his [Awareness]. By the time he finished, it was midnight. Gin bathed and returned to sleep, hoping his clothes would dry by then.

Gin looked at his eyes in the water after washing his face. He wasn’t interested in unwanted attention, especially being called a vampire. Knowing his luck, some random vampire would hear about it and get offended because he wasn’t a vampire.

Gin wrapped a cloth over his eyes, went to the lunch room, and ordered anything that looked good, like potatoes and cream that tasted like a beacon, little orange pallets that tasted like sweet old-school butter. He washed it down with a purple juice that had liquor. Every drink on the menu had liquor inside.

“Hey! You’re the one that's been keeping me awake.”

A girl’s grumpy voice thundered in his mind. Gin searched his surroundings with his senses for the girl, but nobody was looking at him or standing near him.

“You need to control that thing. Keep swinging it around, and someone will cut it off.”

Gin sensed the string of Mana gently touching his [Awareness], and then, to her surprise, his [Awareness] expanded, filling the entire Inn. She cut off her Mana and went silent, but Gin wasn’t done. He placed his plate on the counter and spoke to everyone in the room.

“Thank you for your advice. I’ll be more considerate next time.”

Gin had already sensed her someone sat in the corner but she was invisible. His [Awareness] shrank to six feet around him, and he left the Inn by following the map inside the badge. A section of the City was marked as the market. To get to that side of the City, he had to sign in all his items, including Ada. The gate to the market also holds a lot of Mana.

The Guard moved fast, and Gin realized he was only in line for five minutes. Gin went back to covering his eyes. The downside was that people with psychic ability noticed his [Awareness] and tried to escape his sphere.

He began to understand how different his psychic ability was from those with the psychic classes. Gin sensed the Mana in the air from all the items. Through his [Awareness], they drifted in all different colors from each Item, and Gin was able to spot the fakes.

Ever since he entered the City, he hadn’t seen many adventurers; however, everyone wore armor in the market district. There were all different types of races, people that looked like cats, brown skin people with horns, and whenever he had one, he checked that his horns had gotten longer. After seeing many different types of horns, the idea of having horns was starting to grow on him. As long as he kept his brown skin, he could deal with the changes that would eventually happen. Because who Gin was and the rules he lived by would never change.

While shopping for magic items, people called them Relics because they were found in a tower. Gin sensed when a giant adventurer who resembled a sizeable humanoid dog man watched him pass by and smiled with a mouth full of teeth at his friends to watch what he would do. Catching on to the situation, Gin watched through his senses.

“Get out of my way!”

The problem was that this guy never seemed to notice Ada, who stood in his way on purpose. The large man crashed onto the floor, rolling to a stop. Gin kept walking. The man’s friends began to laugh, joking at him. The man huffed, rising to his feet.

“Hey! you blind bastard. I know you can hear me. You need to apologize to me right now, or I’ll kill your pet.”

The dog man growled as if he was about to pounce. If he tried to hurt Ada, she would eat him, Gin thought to himself. He had a mind to tell him to try but decided against it. The reception went over the rules in the City against fighting. Apparently, the guards were just there to show there were stronger beings in the City that did not play around.

“I’m sorry. Ada thought you would attack me, so she took one for the team.”

Gin scratched Ada on the head, and The man scoffed.

“Towers aren’t for cripples, and their seeing-eye pet, take your ass back home and stop dragging down your team.”

Gin realized the man said he couldn’t have made it this far alone. The insinuation didn’t bother Gin, so he just shrugged it off. The crowd opened around him, and everyone waited for his response. Gin frowned at first. He preferred punching the guy in the face rather than verbally sparring. At first, he thought it was a good idea to hide his eyes so that he didn’t draw unwanted attention, and now he still ended up attracting the unsavory type. The big dog man was clearly not worth fighting. He was definitely not worth the class quest, either.

“Thank you for your advice. You are truly wise.”

The large man didn’t know how to respond politely to Gin’s response, so he paused.

“I, uh, are you making fun of me?”

His friend kept laughing and egged him on.

“Come on, Bart, you can’t let him do you like that and get away with it.”

“Look at him. He’s trying to get away!”

Gin hated bullies. He’d been fighting them his whole life and was facing off against another idiot, who was following around more idiots.

“Now, now. Boys.”

The lilting voice of a woman carried over the crowd. The woman wore a skin-tight green dress with a witch’s Hat so big it sheltered her from the sun. Her skin was as brown as chocolate. She stood almost seven feet tall and had a forked tail. The crowd visibly susurrated, and she smiled.

“What would happen if a Pacifist came down here to break up an unsanctioned fight in the market? Now go on, move along, everyone.”

Gin sighed and turned to walk away.

“Wait, I challenge you.”

Bart’s voice echoed in the market, and the tall lady visibly sighed. Gin turns back around to find the large dog man pointing at him.

“Listen, big guy, I wasn’t trying to insult you. I’m just here to shop. Don’t you have a girlfriend or something to occupy your time?”

“You’ve been challenged. Will you answer the call, or will you forfeit?”

“What are the rules?”

“The challenger picks the place. If the challengee turns down the fight, he has to give up a Relic. If you win the fight, you get to take one thing away from the loser unless it’s a fight to the death, then you get everything, or he does. Bart here always seems to get involved with someone weaker than him, so he has a few small items for sail.”

She glared at him while Bart avoided her gaze.

“Well, pick the place.”

“Tomorrow morning at the Shell. You’re going to learn not to insult me.”

“Where is the shell?”

“The adventurers guild. Are you completely new to this Tower or something?”

Gin nodded.

“So this is fighting to the knockout or death?”

Bart laughed.

“That’s right, knockout.”

“OK. See you then.”

The large man grinned a mouth full of sharp teeth as if he were a Dog with a brand new toy. His smile faltered when Gin began to smile back. The large man waved at Gin, but Gin decided to freak him out and wave back. Bart and his friends began to scowl.

The market was separated into sections, with adventurers selling their Relics at a higher price than they were worth and shops. There were tarps, stone buildings, and so much food. Gin sensed a Relic with Phychic energy. It was a statue of a four-armed man with onyx skin.

The statue exuded a psychic aura that drew his attention. Gin looked at the adventurer, but the adventurer seemed none the wiser about what the statue was doing. He also seemed uninterested, as if he didn’t see the Mana.

“What is this statue?”

“That is a statue of one of the gods. Uh, I forgot which one. Do you want it? I’ll give it to you for fifty credits.”

“Twenty-five.”

“Done.”

Gin opened his mouth to respond. Then, I gave him the credits and took the statue. Everyone with psychic ability stayed away from him, and the vendors avoided eye contact of trying to penetrate his mind until Gin poked them in their heads with his [Awareness]. One moment, he walked, and the psychic attack began, and suddenly, something in the far corner collapsed.

Gin found three more items doing the same thing. He didn’t want to open his spatial compartment around anyone because it would draw attention. He bought a satchel while working up to the more expensive items. To find what he was looking for, stronger armor and technique scrolls that he’d heard about.

“Excuse me, young man, are you seeking something specific?”

The woman’s tired, old voice stole his attention. The lady’s eyes were almost closed from blindness. She was old, and her face was wrinkled. He sensed the subtle magic around her, but she wasn’t using any magic his [Awareness] could perceive.

“Yes, I want something to protect me from the elements. Except for fire.”

She opened a box the size of a cigarette container and removed an earring.

“This reduces the effects of curses and the cold. It is two hundred credits.”

Gin’s senses washed over the Item. Like the frozen wind, he sensed the ice Mana and light magic, which gave the earring a slight gleam. However, he also sensed that the slight gleam was corrupted with blood. Gin’s mouth moved on its own.

“Is that blood magic?”

He did not yell, but the old woman heard him and sat up.

“You can sense the kind of enchantment?”

“Can’t everyone?”

She placed the earring back into her box, called someone over, and stood, but Gin didn’t move a muscle, shocked at the man who stepped in front of him’s sudden Malicious intent.

The old lady smacked the man on the arm.

“Ibara, stop that. Come with me, young man.”

“I couldn’t have been the only one who noticed that?”

Gin looked around, followed the lady, walked into an alley, and opened the door to the shop. Gin looked around again and entered the shop. The shop was filled with either Relic that didn’t have any Mana, or it was all just junk. He heard something fall in the back, and then the lady came back.

“Help remove the curses, and I’ll intent from some of these items, and I will pay with whatever you want from the shop.”

“I don’t know how to do that. I can tell you what’s really bad or has dark magic, but I’ve never tried something like that. Why don’t you sell them to an enchanter or something like that? Don’t they have those types of people here?”

“Our Enchanter died many years ago, and I don’t trust any of these greedy bastards. They’ll betray me In a second.”

“How have they not robbed you by now?”

She gave him a toothless smile.

“Wouldn’t you like to know? You want the job or not?”

“Do you have any technique scrolls or armor?”

“Yes, we have toys, swords, pots, whatever you can imagine. You just have to find it.”

“How do you know I won’t try to take everything?”

She laughed and then winked.

“That’s another secret.”

“OK, I’ll try something.”

He might not find anything good, but he remembered going to the thrift store to look for strange things when he was a kid with his mother before she died, and he ended up in the orphanage. He pushed back the memories.

“You want to get started now?”

“My name is Gin.”

“Call me Red.”

“I came to the market to find a technique scroll and armor, but now I might find a few priceless stuff.”

Red clapped.

“Well, dont uh die. I’m going to sleep.”

“No, should be this trusting.”

“Secret, remember secret.”

The old lady disappeared up the stairs in the corner. Ibara was also gone, but Gin didn’t remember him entering the shop. Red left the earring on the counter, but Gin would not mess with blood magic immediately. He searched through the junk with his senses and found several psychic relics: a clock, a hat, and a miniature handmade stone furnace.

The clock had psychic energy mixed with dark and sticky magic. Gin had figured out what the watch was supposed to do.

“Hey, Red, isn’t there supposed to be some kind of description?”

Her voice echoed from the stairs.

“Crystal tablet under the counter.”

The crystal tablet looked like an iPad and worked similarly. Gin punched Mana into the Tablet, and it came to life. Then he put the clock on top of the Tablet, and nothing happened. He put the Tablet on the clock, and words came to life. The Clock of Hypnotism: once the users use the Item, they slowly become addicted to pain. Hat of invisibility, an adventurer’s partner died after he returned without certain body parts. Toy furnaces were once made to burn away children’s nightmares. Now, the Furnace burns away the mind slowly. Gin stepped back.

“OK, that’s not right.”

Gin grabbed the Furnace and then paused. He wanted to destroy it, but it was his nun of the Relics who were his. If he couldn’t figure out how to fix the Relic items, he would buy the Furnace and destroy it.

“OK. Next.”

Gin studied the Hat. It had pure residual psychic energy, but he sensed the blood magic inside the Hat. He sensed that the owner used to have a psychic ability and wore the Hat for so long that it became enchanted. The missing body part must mean the psi user died from an amputated limb, and the psi energy imprinted the emotions into the Hat. Gin sensed the blood coiled into the psychic energy with strong emotions of regret.

He picked up the clock, and his [Awareness] washed over it. The residual psi energy tried to lock his mind with its power, but Gin shrugged off the psi energy and found more blood magic. It’s as if death and blood magic tied themselves to the psychic energy and filled the Relic with malicious intent.

Gin suddenly had an idea from what he just learned. This is cursed magic with extreme emotions, and mixed into Mana, it can poison Relics or even create them. Gin created a small fire in his palm, focused on the natural Mana still inside his body, and spoke out loud.

“In this light, there shall be no darkness or ill intent. This fire burns away pain and sadness. All who seek Ill intent fear the flame that devours hate and regret.”

He repeated the words, but they weren’t the words. It was the emotion and the intent. He tried to push his feelings and his words into the flame. He used his psychic energy to wrap the flames and tendrils of natural Mana around a slither of the cursed energy and pull it through the flames. He pushed himself to believe he pushed himself to know it was possible to burn away all the negative emotions. He pushed and prodded the flames for hours. His eyes began to go dry from not blinking until.

The fire came alive and began to feed on the curse energy until the color changed to gold. Gin watched through his [Awareness] as the flames burned away the negative emotions in the objects.

“Holy shit, I did a thing.”

Gin dropped the fire in the mini Furnace, and the fire ate the dark energy.

“I can’t be the only one who came with something like this, can I?”

Gin stared at the golden fire, which fed on the room’s ambient dark energy. Gin grinned.

“It’s time to go shopping.”

Gin left the Furnace and began to peruse the shop.

“Hey, Ada, can you watch the Furnace for me? If you start feeling funny, come and find me.”

There was an aisle with fake tails. Gin stared, maybe fake tails. A closer look, they all looked real. The Jacob sight was hard to turn away from. The closer he became, the more he realized that they were made. Gin used the Tablet to look up why people would want tails.

Tails and scales: many creatures hold their power in their tails in combat for extra storage of Mana, a third fight arm, and balance to never be retaken by surprise. Gin found armor with tails still attached. He scanned them with the Tablet.

This is the tail of a Mokari hairless, which hunts in the mountains. They use their tails to run off the walls and sting their prey. Once the tail is installed, it’ll produce its own venom. Once installed, it grows into the nervous system, and the user may develop the Mokari trait, feeding on flesh and blood. Gin looked at another one that resembled a fishtail. The tail of a Qu is a monster that dwells in the deep and feasts on the natural treasure they find through their tails. Gin went to the last armor.

Dawncat armor: protects against freezing and slash damage levels fifteen to thirty-five. Dawncats are known for their psychic abilities, except they cause nightmares for the wearer of this armor, who permanently develops bad dreams and attacks others while sleepwalking and daydreaming constantly. The tail infused with Mana enhances balance and dodging while jumping; attacks may increase speed in rocky and forest terrain, the ability to spot traps, and increase alertness. Gin smiled at the armor. Ps may also grow with its users if maintained.

“Oh, you naughty girl. I am your cure.”

Gin took the armor and continued perusing it. He walked into an aisle of Terrariums, and every sign said, “Do not open, “in bold letters. He squinted and stared into the jar. The Terrarium had a tiny cabin and a miniature forest surrounding it. A monster opened its eyes inside the cabin. Gin stood.

“Umm, my bad little guy, go back to sleep.”

Then something changed like he was staring down a predator. Above was a sign that said not to stare into its eyes.

“Could have said that before.”

But it was the size of a bug. When it met Gin’s eyes, he suddenly found himself inside the Terrarium. He looked around and frowned.

“Damn.”
