Throughout history, there have been many myths and incarnations of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – War with his red horse, Famine with his black horse, Pestilence with his white horse, and Death with his pale horse. These powerful beings were originally tasked with bringing about the end of the world, and were semi-immortal, meaning that while they could eventually die, it was extremely difficult to kill them.
As the centuries passed, the Horsemen grew tired of waiting for the apocalypse to arrive and decided to refuse to participate if it ever did come. While War was initially opposed to this decision, he was outnumbered and could not change the outcome of the vote. Over time, the Horsemen began to live more human-like lives, holding jobs, falling in love, and having children. However, their powers were passed down to their descendants, but the desire to fulfil their role never truly left them, it simmered beneath the surface, and the Riders found that if they tried to avoid their duties, they would suffer from withdrawal symptoms such as intense headaches, nausea, and a feeling of restlessness. They knew they couldn't ignore their true nature, they were bound to their roles as the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

As the world changed, so too did the descendants of the Horsemen. They had to find new and creative ways to carry out their duties, eventually replacing their horses with cars – specifically, Mustangs in the same colours as their ancestors' horses. They also decided to rebrand themselves as The Riders.
Despite the weight of their duties, the Riders found a sense of camaraderie in each other. They were the only ones who truly understood the burden they bore, and they leaned on each other for support. They would gather together regularly, discussing their successes and failures, and strategizing for the future.
