Jorin sat in his study, the desk as well as the floor was covered in loose papers, books and old stone tablets. The room was illuminated by a multitude of blue crystals hanging from the ceiling, tinting the whole room light blue. He had barely slept the last weeks, the Night was here and he still hadn’t deciphered all the texts but one thing was clear whatever lay ahead would cost many lives. 10.000 years ago something in his world had been sealed, some source of energy. The texts were speaking of them being sealed off from the rest of the universe whatever that meant. This energy would bring back opportunities for them to rise but bring hardships as well.
Some of the texts he’d studied were speaking of them being barred from this energy for unjust reasons while others spoke of a great crime committed by his ancestors. The truth was probably hidden somewhere in between as it mostly was, but whichever sources he studied they all said the same. When the twelve great stars line up the shackles shall be broken and they’d be given a second chance. Most scholars of the Order ignored the warnings, writing them off as wild tales used to scare the masses. But Jorin had gathered sources from all over the world that said the same.
He still remembered when he’d visited the Kingdom of Ithrak shortly before his 18th birthday. The young Queen Cassandra, had welcomed him to study their books, when she showed him texts that were all to familiar with the ones he’d studied at home. Only they were just recently discovered in an old ruin. That week he and Queen Cassandra had made a pact to prepare for the Night when the world would break.
He took his fathers sword, and strode outside on his balcony. He was clad in light leather armor and he felt the cool breath on his face, the night sky looked beautiful and the Twelve seemed to be lined up. Whatever was supposed to happen would happen any minute now or never.
Then it happened, slowly a lined carved in sky connecting one star to the next. As the line finally reached the last star the crack slowly opened and revealed a bright light, it looked like a giants eye gazing down at the world, was the last thing Jorin thought before his consciousness faded.
As he woke up the eye in the sky was replaced by the sun, the sky was blue with barely any clouds and he could smell the stench of the city as always. As he sat up and scroll rolled of his chest and clattered on the stone floor. As he unfurled it, it revealed a weird text.

On the scroll was a kind of overview of him, and it listed him as King. He stood up and put the scroll in his bag, there would be enough time later to find out what the scroll did exactly, first he had to find out what changed. He made his way through the Order until he reached the office of Grandmaster Tiberius. He knocked at the door but when he heard no answer, he just entered the room. It was nice and tidy, the walls were lined with well organized bookshelves and the papers on the desk were all organized neatly but Grandmaster Tiberius was not inside.
The next place he’d have to check would be the throne hall, as every important person in the capital would probably look for answers with the King. He started jogging, breaking out into a sprint a few seconds later as he noticed that it took barely any energy.
As he arrived at the throne hall it was already full of people, he made his way through the mass of courtiers towards the throne. As the crowd split in front of him he saw his siblings as well as the Five Fingers standing around the throne in a heated discussion but as Myra spotted him out of the corner of her eye and turned in his direction the others glanced over as well. As soon as they saw who he was the discussion died down as they all turned towards him.

“Jorin, what is this supposed to mean?!” Orin shouted. “What are these scrolls, why did everybody pass out and why can’t I sit down on my throne?”
Jorin raised his hand to signal him to wait for a second and turned around to the crowd who were staring at him expectantly. “I am well aware that this must be shocking for you but be assured that the situation is under control. I will talk to the Council and my siblings before any further information will be given out. Now leave the throne hall.”
The silence that had reigned for a few seconds as he spoke broke as the loud chatter started up again but the crowd was slowly moving towards the door.
He turned back to answer his brothers’ questions. “This event was foretold in many texts. An ancient energy that governs the universe was reintroduced to our world, what exactly that means for our kingdom I cannot say. As for why you can’t sit on the throne, it is probably because you are not King. What does your scroll say under Occupation?”
Orin frowned “Prince.”
“Mine says Crown Princess.” Interrupted Elara.
“That would make you… the King.” Myra exclaimed and kneeled down, the others soon following suit except Orin who stood shocked.
“I am sorry brother. I didn’t choose this, but it is my birthright and this energy clearly recognizes me as the rightful ruler.”
Orin clenched his jaw and stared at him, then he turned around and stormed out of the hall. Prince Aldric looked after him then turned back to Jorin. “Shall I bring him back.”
“No, he needs time to grasp the situation. Hell I haven’t grasped the situation quite yet. But first stand up.” He said. “We need to prevent the realm from plunging into chaos.”
As Jorin sat down a stone table rose from the floor and revealed writing similar to that of their scrolls.

“It seems like this is interactive. It’s like opening a new page when you tap on the desired information.” He exclaimed. “But we need to focus on other things. We need to make sure we are prepared for possible threats. Grandmaster Tiberius organize all Brothers and Sisters from the Order to look for information in the scriptures. Focus on the Point Class and Titles, I think they will help us greatly. Vesper, use your information network to look for any threats in our territory that are not known as of yet. Baldric, take charge of the training and organization of the Imperial Army. I want the training increased and all soldiers ready to march whenever necessary. Aldwin I need you to instruct all our messengers to deliver messages to our citizens, compose a message that instills calmness.”
As he finished his commands he felt the scroll in his bag vibrate and pulled it out. As he unfurled it he noticed a change. There was new tab, called Skills.

Notifications (1)
Dungeons and Monsters: over the next days the energies of your world will rise, transforming animals into monsters and creating hubs of energy where monsters will spawn in increased numbers – so called dungeons. Slay these monsters and conquer dungeons to earn experience and earn a class (you can earn experience through other ways as well)
That really didn’t say too much but it confirmed that you could add new things to the scroll by your actions. The notification was much more significant, it sounded like most of his territory would soon be affected by hostile creatures.
“Myra, check your scroll. See if you have a notification called Dungeons and Monsters.” Myra, unfurled her scroll and nodded. “Yes I do.” His other siblings along with the Councilors chimed in. It seemed like everyone got that notification. But notifications on the scroll might be useful for him. He checked his table again.

After clicking on send message he quickly chose all citizens as recipients and sent a text telling them to seek the nearest town, where they should receive basic weapons training and protection from possible dangers.
To the nobles he wrote an extra message telling them to organize scouting parties, to scout for Monsters and so called ‘Dungeons’. If found they should must big enough parties to clear them or ask for help from their next superior noble.
Once that was taken care of he turned to his siblings. “Elara, Aldric, Valen I want you to muster your personal troops and form parties to search for these monsters. It will give the commoners hope if they see the royal family defending them. Myra, you will join me.”
After giving out the orders, he dismissed everyone and leaned back in the throne. Compared to what he had expected this could’ve been a lot worse.
