0.4 - Remara

Remara and the first note spent uncounted time passing over surface after surface of the spheres. The music they made together set broken melodies right and drove back encroaching touches of darkness from the mind’s cacophony. They passed over unending numbers of worlds and stars and clusters of barren rock, each and every one a wonder to the heart of the universe. It seemed as if there was no end to the unique formations connected to her, and the sight of each only stoked her desire to see the next. Let me see, let me see, let me see it all, she sang.

Yet once, she paused over one world they were attending to and circled it slowly. For the first time, the desire within her shifted ever so slightly. The unity of the choir below and the intricate dances on the surface called to her in ways she could not understand. She had never come in closer, never gotten to see the tiny dancers they ministered to, and she wondered what they were like.

And so, her song changed, and she raised her request to the first note. Let me see, let me see, let me see this one world. Let me see all there is to be seen in this one place.

And so, the first note struck a playful tune. Remara quickly joined in, and out of their melody, they wove a form around the heart of the universe. It was a grand body of warmth and light and unending change that concealed nothing. Overjoyed, she circled the world in her new form, peering down to decide where she should enter and begin her journey.

The closer she looked, the more she understood the difference in sizes between herself and the dancers. They were so much smaller that her new form might easily step on one and crush it. She began to read the laws bound into the structure of the world and understood that a being as large and hot as her landing on it would devastate the surface, ending nearly all of the songs she hoped to take part in.

She continued drifting around the planet, considering the problem. Perhaps if her form became smaller, that would solve the problem. But it would only solve one problem, for how could one tiny being ever be able to see all there was to see of the world?

So, she raised her voice again, posing the problem and the question to the first note. How may I see it all? How to arrive among them without harm?

The first note did not provide an answer, only a gentle accompanying melody to her questions. Content to wait, Remara continued drifting in her circuit, caught up in the harmony and focused on nothing but the unity of the music.

And as the song drew to a close, she lifted her face to see a massive, frozen rock hurtling toward her.
