In a forgotten land, barren and dangerous, there were three kingdoms. One was named Mandel. A kingdom whose passion burns like that of flames, dons a mantel of fire. They seek to conquer all that stands in their way no matter how absurd or reckless the tactics they employ may be. The second was Gran, A kingdom of Earth and stone. Unlike many other kingdoms, this once peaceful and passive civilization dug through the ground to build its structures underneath the chaos of the outside world in hopes it may remain unscathed by future wars. The only way in or out were secret tunnels. Thus, is the ultimate defense against any opposing force. The last was Syndicate, a kingdom of technology and experimentation. It’s curiosity of the unknown and hidden potential drove them to the relentless pursuit of knowledge. Robots, Cyborgs, floating vehicles and more were common sights to see. Though war never interested them due to the want for self-preservation and thus never did want to create weapons of mass destruction.
These kingdoms were locked in the clutches of war for centuries. The king of Mandel wanted these kingdoms for his own and thus waged war on them both. Gran, the solitary kingdom, wanted no part and held its ground underneath its impenetrable shield of Earth. Syndicate also decided to hold off the attacking force by developing new technology that could render people immobile rather than kill them so they can bring them back to their labs for experiments. Though the defending kingdoms could gather forces to retaliate against the armies of Mandel, neither were willing to help each other. For Syndicate was shunned and rejected for its research and Gran was seen as cowardly for its unwillingness to fight. Thus, relationships were worsened, and they ended up waging war against each other. However, they knew that if one kingdom would send enough forces to take down one other kingdom, the third would swiftly send armies to conquer the weakened foes. And so, they stood at a standstill, waging small altercations from time to time on the borders of their land.
Then one day, a strange light appeared in the sky. It was small and dim, seemingly harmless in its purple twinkle. The kingdom of Mandel thought nothing of it. Gran wanted nothing to do with it. Though Syndicate was curious enough to investigate it more, they could not find any answers as to what it was or why it shines. As days passed, the light grew bigger and brighter. A cause of concern settled within the people of the three kingdoms. Syndicate could not find any clues of the anomaly, Mandel was uneasy of its presence, and Gran feared the unknown and what ruin it may bring. The three kingdoms decided to cease all attacks until this purple light had gone away or until they figured out what it was. In the meantime, as the light grew ever brighter in the sky, they prepared for the worst.
Mandel decided to build a retractable dome around the kingdom from a special alloy that absorbed sunlight. Then, when the time was right, they could press a button to make the dome rise from the ground like a shield and then send an electrical current through it so that it would catch fire. Warding off any attack with searing heat. Syndicate developed a chip that they implanted in the people of the kingdom. This experiment led to the creation of an energy field that drew its power from the lifeforce of the people. This field covered the kingdom like a bubble and would remain active so long as the citizens drew breath. Gran, however, placed their hopes in the Earth and its defense. With nothing to build, they remained dormant as time went on.
At last, after many dreadful weeks of the luminous purple light that gleamed its intimidating glow amongst the Earth, it arrived. From the sky, where if it were not purple it could be confused with the sun itself, it floated down in the middle of the three kingdoms. It was a pulsating purple ball in the sky with no motive. Mandel and Syndicate both promptly raised their defenses. Gran remained silent. Without warning, a beam of light shot from the invader in the sky towards Mandel, shattering its defenses instantly. Flaming metal rained upon the kingdom and its denizens after suffering many casualties from the initial explosion. Soon after, another ray of light fired upon Syndicate. The energy shield tied to its people ripped open and warped around the beam. The people inside were being burned alive from the inside out since the shield was connected to them. Destruction and death found the kingdom swiftly and without mercy.
However, the energy shield that warped around the light fused with it, creating a reaction that reflected and amplified the same power back at the entity. The reflected light caused an explosion of the invader and sent it crashing to the ground near Gran, who remained unnoticed since its arrival. Mandel, who once prided itself from the fire in their hearts, were set ablaze by their own creation and left in ruin. Syndicate was also left littered in debris with the bodies of the people charred in place like blackened statues, expressing only the last agonizing seconds of their life in the form left behind. Gran, who was the only kingdom intact, went to investigate the wreckage of the intruder who left waist to the other kingdoms. What they discovered was a destroyed ball of metal with a purple goo-like substance covering it and the ground around it. No one was inside. They decided to salvage the parts in fear of the other kingdoms obtaining the technology to use it against them.

Soon after bringing it back, they realized they could make weapons with this purple substance. The energy it produced was like nothing they could have ever thought of. Knowing the destruction of the other kingdoms, the king of Gran took time to equip his armies with this newfound power so that he could control the neighboring lands; peace could be eternal if he obtained them. After a few days of preparation, he mobilized his armies to wipe out his enemies once and for all. They emerged from the Earth in battalions equipped with weapons of mass destruction. Marching onward for a true era of peace that will reign forever. However, fate had other ideas for this nation…
The king of Gran, who craved desperately for his ideology of peace to come to fruition, he ignored the effects of the substance he found. People were getting ill. Skin tainted purple and hacking up blood were common symptoms of the infected. Some went mad, others motionless like if they were in a deep slumber. The king paid no mind to the infected and wanted to investigate it after the reign of the other kingdoms officially came to an end. So, he sat down in his room. He imagined his future rule of the land and the peace it would bring. He felt sleepy, for he had been working a lot more than usual the past few days. He fell asleep in his chair expecting it all to be over when he woke. After hours had passed, he had woken to a strange noise.
He sat upright in his chair to listen, hoping he could catch the noise again. It happened again. He heard a scream. The king jumped to his feet and darted to the door. He opens it to see one of his guards down the corridor in a corner. He’s leaned against the wall, motionless and facing towards a hallway. The king walks over to him, demanding to know what is going on. But as he approached, he notices the guard isn’t responding. Upon closer inspection, he see’s something dripping from the guards’ body. It’s blood. A sword had been driven through his chest and is now pinned against the wall. The king stumbles backwards in shock. He then hears slow footsteps from the hall the guard was facing. The king shouts at the footsteps to reveal itself. From the hall, a man appears in the glow of a torch that’s been mounted on a wall. The light from the flames flicker and fork upon the face. It illuminates a purple tint of skin, blood running from the mouth, and darkened eyes sockets where it seems the eyes were clawed out.
The king screams and runs back to his room, locking the door behind him. The man seems to run after the king, pounding on the door with loud echoing BANGS. The king whimpers and cries under his bed in fear for his life. After some time, the noise stops. The king hears footsteps fading away as it leaves the door. In time, the king summons the courage to leave the room and find an escape tunnel. He unlocks the door and looks down the corridor. Nothing is there except for the deceased guard. He sneaks down to the corner and peeks down the hallway. The stench of the dead overwhelms his senses. He can only see bodies and severed parts littering the ground. Blood is everywhere and stains the walls. A door resides at the end of the hall that opens to the courtyard. A tunnel is found next to the door in the courtyard where he could escape.
He slowly creeps past the fallen guards and body parts. His breathing quickens and his pulse racing as he makes his way to the door. He opens it and is left speechless. Strange creatures roam around. Some with outstretched torsos and extended limbs. Some walking on all fours and some with multiple heads. Bodies twisted and contorted flesh that form most hideous creations. The king hears something behind him, scuttering about. He turns to see crimson thread-like lines on the walls. It has human shaped figures trapped inside and sticking to the wall. The king takes a step back and trips on a corpse covered in this substance. Then, as the king tries to stand back up, a giant dark silhouette slowly lowers itself from the roof. The king stares at this creature. The creature stares back with its numerous eyes. Before the king can scream, he’s overtaken by crimson webbing and punctured through the chest. He’s lifted in the air as what punctured him is pumping something painful in his body that melts away his insides, causing them to leak out.
Like that, the three kingdoms fell to this unknown intruder. Will the survivors of this tragedy live to see another day, or will the monsters of the purple light consume all?
