Chapter 1: Eyes All Over

In the blanket of a pitch-black night, a child lays still in fear. He’s in complete and utter shock. Terror consumes his expression. He stays perfectly silent, staring in complete horror. Blood. It slowly fills the ground beneath him until it soaks into his feet. Scattered across the red-painted grass are corpses, some dismembered, some decapitated. He trembles as he looks up to see what was behind this carnage. A being. Teeth like daggers, dripping with blood. Red eyes… scattered all across his body, staring straight at the boy. The demon looks upon him with a strong bloodlust that’s seen through each of its eyes. As the child begins to process what has been done to his family, he whales in agony, he screams and cries at the top of his lungs until his throat cracks. This is short-lived, however, as the demon slashes his throat with its giant razor-like claws, decapitating the boy. The demon picks up his lifeless head and bites down on it. Crunching and chewing it up until it’s a mushed-up mixture of bone, flesh, teeth, and skin. All that is heard is the sound of cicadas and the loud crunching of the demon, as he consumes each body one by one. Hours go by as clouds pass by the glowing moon. A single step can be heard on the grass. “How's the feast?”. A man appears from the darkness, “Children? Really? Why don't you hunt something a little bigger?”. The eyes on the demon's back all laser in on the man. The demon turns around to meet the wanderer. It lets out a roar that echoes through the night.

The man grabs his hilt with his bandaged left hand. He unsheathes a tall blade that glistens in the presence of the moon. He points the sword straight at the demon, his bright red eyes completely zoned in on the monster in front of him. The demon gets on all fours, then darts at the man, creating a wind that shakes the tall grass it passes by. As the demon approaches, it launches itself high into the air, getting ready to slash down on the bladed man.

The man pulls his blade back until the hilt is at his eye level, and the blade is pointed at the demon nose-diving towards him. He whispers to himself.
