Chapter Two - Damn you, Little Bro!

The surprise on my face couldn’t be hidden as I listened, in complete and utter shock, to the words coming from this supposed system. The fact I had broken through two body realms, consecutively, mind you, with no cultivation technique at all… This proved I had monstrous talent. But what shocked me even more was the function of this system. I had… no idea it would do this!

“For surpassing one major Body Cultivation Rank, you have been gifted [Bronze] Frost Dragon Spear, One Hundred 2nd Rank Spirit Stones, and [Earth] Supreme Qi Cultivation manual.”

“For surpassing one major Body Cultivation Rank, you have been gifted a Beast Holding Bag.”

“For reaching two years of age, you have been granted a [Silver] Imperial Spear, 1,000 3rd Rank Spirit Stones, and 10 Ox Body Fortification pills.”

System, please explain to me how getting items work. I’m not… not sure I understand! Also, Item ranks and Technique ranks as well… I felt like spitting blood. This system just came out of nowhere and gave me things? Where were the things it gave me? I’m… supremely confused! It took quite a while for the System to respond to my questions, but the answers it gave made sense.

“Every major rank you pass in Qi/Body cultivation grants the chance for a Spear, a Technique, an item, and pills. You have a guaranteed chance for a Spear every year on your birthday, as well as a technique, item, and pills.”

“Item Ranks are the following.

Ordinary/Trash

Bronze

Silver

Gold

Superior Gold.

“Technique ranks are the following.

Yellow

Red

Black

Earth

Sky

Heaven.”

As I thought over the ranks, I asked another question. “System, how do I access my items, and see what they do?” It responded rather quickly this time.

“You can access your items by just thinking about summoning them, and you can see what they do by thinking of the word ‘Stats,’ and the item itself.”

Naturally, I already wanted to try this. It was almost inevitable. I began to imagine the Imperial Spear, a nice gold-rod appeared in my hand, and it took me a second before I realized how large it was. The staff of the spear was probably five feet in length, and another half foot in diameter. The top of the spear, like most other fantasy spears, was a cone shape. Unlike others however, I noticed that the cone had wave like indentations with sharp corners. This spear… would definitely deal lots of damage!

It was sad, I thought, that this spear was only Silver rank. It should be at the very least Gold, no? I shook my head, a smirk on my new-found childish face, and opened its description. To say I was shocked, well, it would not be apt. It was more than shock, far more than shock, at what I saw. This spear… had to be legendary! There was absolutely no other word that was fit to describe it…

[Silver] Imperial Spear

Wield the might of ancient monarchs, and hold your spear high. This spear allows you to pierce anything, and get a power boost once every month! The power boost is not significant, but is a permanent increase in strength.

Just using the spear, once every month I was able to get a power boost that lasted indefinitely, and could greatly strengthen me in the long run! Immediately, I shifted some of my Qi into the spear before cursing the heavens.

Even for something that required such a trivial amount… I did not have enough Qi! This was nonsense! I scrunched my brows in mild annoyance. If I did not have enough Qi now… I would just cultivate until I had enough! How hard could it possibly be? I thought of the Qi Cultivation manual I had just received. The Supreme Qi Cultivation Manual, as it was arrogantly titled, appeared in my hand. The book seemed ancient which I supposed wasn’t a bad thing, as long as it didn’t turn to dust in my hands…

I opened the novel, only to be assaulted by images and feelings on how to use the Technique. I stored the book near immediately, and sat down in a classic meditation stance. Yes, criss cross apple-sauce with my hands in those stupid circles… I could already feel my cheeks flushing in embarrassment as I did this, but I quickly felt the benefits as I continued with it’s instructions. Qi was flowing rapidly into my Qi Core! With this, I could probably end up as a Qi Core Foundation cultivator in no time!

But for now, I waited. I sat in that cultivation pose for probably ten minutes before I reached a small, solid door in the middle of my cultivation. I grunted in annoyance, before punting the door into non existence. I continued onward. It took another twenty minutes before I reached another door, though I could definitely tell this one was slightly sturdier, and tsked in annoyance once more. I still broke through it with one kick. The next door after thirty minutes, and the fourth after forty minutes, met similar fates. It was then, after another fifty minutes of cultivation, that I reached what I had assumed was the barrier for Qi Core Foundation. I gathered the rather miniscule amounts of Qi in my body, and formed it into a Spear. This spear… looked very similar to the Imperial Spear!

As I rushed forward with that Qi Spear, he clashed with the door. It only took a few seconds for the door to groan, and then crack. A few more seconds was all it had left, before it broke into what could be called splinters as my previously small river of Qi flooded into a lake, and my Qi Core condensed a considerable amount. I left my conscience rather swiftly after I had reached the Qi Core Foundation stage, and summoned my Imperial Spear back into existence. I looked at it, admired its glory, before sending Qi to flood it. It activated promptly, and my body surged with power. The feeling I received didn’t feel good. It also, surprisingly, didn’t feel painful. It was more of an uncomfortable surge as my muscles expanded and contracted.

I couldn’t really explain what happened, except for the fact I was definitely stronger. My body almost certainly contained more explosive force, my stamina had risen, and everything was, all around, much higher quality. It was shocking to say the least that this could happen every month. Seriously, how was this Spear only silver rank? I shook my head, a grin on my face. It didn’t matter. For now, at least, I would continue powering up. I hadn’t even felt hungry since I got here, or when I was in the black void, so I assumed the trend would continue.

I put away the Spear, and observed my surroundings a bit more. The presumably charred sand, although I didn’t know how you would burn it since it should have been turned to glass, looked dominating. I felt a slight pressure, and I could almost tell that the pressure got much thicker, and more crushing the farther in you went. Although I wasn’t too sure if that was in, or if it was out, I just assumed that whatever had blackened what was probably a desert was in the middle of this place. I pursed my lips in thought, before cursing.

“Damn this place… To get stronger, do I really have to fight this indomitable pressure? Can’t… can’t I just laze around, while some god-like technique does the work for me…” I shouted, my eyes watered just a bit as I spoke that.

I just wanted to be lazy! That was my life goal, in this and the previous one! Goddamn you, John, I’ll kill you one day! Trust me, your head will lay on a pike, as I laugh maniacally with my harem behind me! Truly, this would be a perfect future… But I shook my head sadly, as I knew that killing John… would be impossible! If he had warped reality to bring me here, who’s to say that he wouldn’t do it again… to kill me! I sighed, my breath foul; I wondered the reasons as to how I would continue onward. Would I truly venture into the central areas of this place, where there would no doubt be Beasts, Cultivators? What if there were Immortals just sitting there, waiting for the next person to come? How would I survive?

I steeled myself. I knew that if there were people in this world who were strong enough to grab whatever was causing this, it would be long, long gone. I looked to my side, which wasn’t too difficult considering my miniscule stature, and stared at the gray stone. How had it remained so pure and colored in this wasteland? I grabbed it, the previous weight of it had lessened and I could definitely pick it up now. But, if I wanted to throw it… that would be another story entirely. My two chubby, probably less than two-foot long arms held it in front of my face as I examined it.

I murmured something, as I had finally noticed… that it wasn’t just a rock! This thing, this damnable thing that had made my ankle feel pain was an Egg! Perhaps I would get some godlike beast, or a beautiful pet that made all the girls fall in love with me! I would be famous, all around the planet if this turned out well! A grin quickly re-found its way on my face, as I laughed joyously.

I was going to dominate this life, one way or another! I would rule the Empires that had stood for thousands of years, and stamp my name all over it! I would become the God-Emperor of this place, and wield 10,000 Spears! My grin faded, and what replaced it was a much more calm look. But first, I had to be strong enough to usurp the Thrones of various kingdoms, and their Empires. I clenched my hand, baby-fat still jiggling, in contempt for the weakness I had right now. I would travel to the center, and I would take whatever was there. I began to reposition my body, a juxtaposition with the egg, and meditated.

It was a boring thing to do, yes, but I was determined to be lazy for now. While I could still speed-run the stages of Qi Cultivation, I would. I sat there for hours, until the day had turned darker than the sands around me, and continued onward in my journey of break-throughs(of which I had none since I had started), determined. It had taken another several hours before my monstrous speed had slowed to a snail's pace, a mighty gate laid in front of me, stopping me from continuing in the Void that was my consciousness.

I sucked in a cold breath, shocked at the sudden difficulty, before I realized that… it made sense. I had broken through a major step, so naturally… it would get so much harder! That didn’t stop me from cursing the very deity that brought me here, John, again. I shook my head in trepidation, before conjuring all of the Qi inside of my body. An enormous whirlpool shook the front of the gate, before forming into a condensed, pure green spear. I looked in awe at the Spear and its jade-like texture, before shaking all the thoughts from my head. My face morphed into what I could only assume was the war-face of a baby trout before I sent the spear to clash into the Gate in front of me.

Clang.

Clang.

Clang.

The gate stood, and I almost coughed blood. The Qi that was in my body dissipated, before slowly re-gathering. It took several hours for my Qi to be full again, which made me all the more cautious of approaching the Gate. I merged all of my Qi into a pole-arm, before waiting for my Qi to gather again. Slowly, the conical tip of the Spear formed, as my Qi filled in the outline. The Qi spear felt powerful, and before it the mighty gate felt weak and full of gaps in its defense. I pushed the spear with all of the strength in my body, before letting go and throwing it at the Gate.

Clang.

Clang.

This time, however, the Gate fell. I was welcomed into the new realm, just like I had been before, by massive surges of Qi while my Qi Core expanded. My previous lake-sized storage, had now been filled to the point of an ocean! I was utterly shocked. Just one step into the new realm, and it was already this beneficial? It was absolutely insane! A massive smile bloomed on my face, as I exited my consciousness. By the time I had gotten out, it had already turned to day. My mouth twitched in annoyance, but then I sighed. I accomplished so much… in one day! My talent was probably outrageous.

But, that mattered little. I advanced into a thicker section of Qi, the air here much more viscous and pressuring than before, before sitting down and going deep into cultivation. It took another day for me to hit the second-step of the Qi Core Foundation realm. I wasn’t quite on-point with the rankings, as my Qi Core had already been there, but I don’t think the name mattered much. My ocean of Qi had nearly doubled in size, and the Gate had been much easier to break through with the more viscous Qi in my surroundings. The Gate was definitely sturdier, though compared to my heightened amount of Qi, it didn’t affect the outcome.

I continued onward, and two more days passed before I stopped again. The gray egg I had been carrying with me had twitched.

“Shit! Little Bro, are you about to be born!?” I shouted excitedly, my Qi had surged wildly in response! This egg, which I had named Little Bro(because at that point, I treated it as my brother…), had actually twitched!

But… Why was this egg absorbing my Qi? Damnit, Little Bro… stop taking my Qi! You’re sucking me dry! Fuck… I felt like coughing out blood. I had saved this little egg from hatching with no food around, and this was how it treated me? How… how shameless! What a leeching little egg… I was tempted to just throw the egg away, but as days passed, the egg had grown darker… If I threw it, I would probably never see this damn egg again! I cursed silently, my brain beginning to go into overdrive as my Qi rapidly depleted.

I couldn’t help but panic at this situation… How was I supposed to deal with a parasitic egg that constantly sucked out my Qi? This was… absolutely diabolical! Little Bro, I beg you… please stop! I will throw you, I will! I began sending murderous intent(which was quite weak) toward the egg, in an attempt to scare it… Immediately the egg started shivering, and my Qi began to stabilize. I sighed a breath of relief… Scaring this Little Bro, wasn’t it too easy?
