Chapter one:Rebirth
Emptiness is a quiet void where nothing happens that only a few beings experience. I have gone through that feeling, lived through it, and survived, not thrive. I escaped while many fell and couldn't rise to the challenge. I died. I could not stay, but I have gotten a second chance this time. I won't let my light die out again! under challenge. I will thrive and survive. I will get my way in the end, no matter how many people or animals I have to crush to get my way.
My eyes open up and then close them immediately. I see the leaves and the blue skies. The gray clouds slowly move in the sky, creating a shade above my body. Feeling the wind on my skin after what felt like an eternity felt like a haven. I look around at my surroundings. Green big trees that have most likely been there longer than I stand unmoving in the brisk breeze. Grass as long as my feet sway weightlessly at my feet. Bushes with fana unknown to my eyes await my discovery, all mine for the taking. My legs are almost wobbly under their weight, but I stay strong. For all the fallen, my hopes, dreams, and possible future determine if I could get up today. The first list on the agenda is to find the nearest living being and either befriend it or kill it.
Next to the list are the rest of my priorities: food, shelter, and water. I feel a tug in my stomach. That was hunger, a reminder that my body still needed sustenance. I look around the area and see a nearby pond with beautiful pink lotus flowers drifting on the surface. My senses are a bit heightened at the possibility of food, but I did not see anything fish-like under the surface. I did notice, however, a tiny bug that was trying to eat one of the petals. I was confident that I could catch it and consume it raw. Bingo! I caught the bug by the skin of my teeth. I bite into it with my sharp canine, and the juices drip from my mouth. The taste was overwhelming with a mix of sweet and spicy. I lick my lips in excitement and then down the whole bug like a shot.
Immediately, my mood shifts from elated to nauseous, but the feeling subsides quickly. I catch a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye. It was a bird,
Perhaps, a Pidgey, flying high up in the trees, minding its own business. It didn't spot me, but I was instantly on guard. It was never certain that a wild pokemon would see me as a friendly face. I had to be vigilant and use any means necessary to keep myself alive. With that in mind, I couldn't help but think about my hidden gift that no one else knew about. My fists tightened, and my jaw clenched. It felt like a dam had been released in my mind.
Now that I was aware of it, the urge was almost too much to handle. I need it, and I had to have it. I stalked the bird, ready to grab it out of the air and break its neck between my fingers. But just as my hand reached up, a strange black ball hit the poor Pidgey's back, and the bird fell to the ground, defeated. I was shocked and bewildered at what had happened. Out of nowhere, a young man emerged from behind a cluster of bushes. He had curly brown hair and tanned skin that contrasted his blue eyes. He was wearing a red and white baseball cap and a red jacket over a white shirt.
"Are you okay? That was a pretty hard hit," the guy asked me. He looked concerned, and his voice was friendly. I held my breath and stepped back, eyeing him warily. I didn't trust people easily, and especially not someone who was able to strike down a living creature so effortlessly.
"I'm fine," I replied, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. The man beamed and held out his hand.
"I'm Alex. What's your name?"
I continued to watch him carefully, ignoring his hand. I felt slightly repulsed and intrigued. Here was another human being, offering me his friendship or pity. Still, there was something about his aura that drew me in, almost as if he understood my need for survival.
"Adrian," I muttered, taking his hand and shaking it. Alex grinned and looked me up and down, sizing me up.
"You look like you're heading somewhere," he observed, taking in my bare feet and ragged clothing. I shrugged, not wanting to reveal my true intentions.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"Not exactly. I was just catching a bite to eat." Alex chuckled and took a step forward, his hands in his pockets.
"Well, maybe I could help you with that. Why don't you come with me to Rustboro City? I hear it's pretty cool, and they have lots of fun stuff to do." Before I could respond, he grabbed my arm and dragged me towards a shiny, red motorcycle. I couldn't resist, and my feet moved automatically. I had nothing better to do anyway, so I jumped on the bike behind Alex and held on tightly. He turned on the ignition and sped off down the dirt path. I tried to remain stoic, but my heart was racing.
The bike engine roared in my ears, and I felt like a stranger in a strange land. Everything passed by me in a blur as I clung to the only thing I could hold onto. The air rushed through my hair, and I felt my stomach flip and flop from the uneven ground. The bike jolted and bucked underneath us, but I was so elated that I barely noticed. Alex veered right down a narrower path, and I gripped him tightly to keep from falling off. We continued to zoom through the dense trees, and the air started to get denser with smoke. I was about to shout at Alex, but as we emerged from the forest, my jaw dropped in awe.
The city of Rustboro spread out before us, its tall buildings glinting in the afternoon sunlight. Alex rode the motorcycle down a massive road and pulled into a parking lot. We parked, and I couldn't stop staring at the city. It was like nothing I had seen before, with its bright lights and bustling streets. I could almost feel the energy pulsing beneath my feet as I followed Alex to the Pokémon Center.
He smiled reassuringly as he pushed open the doors and led me inside. The Pokémon Center was filled with people and Pokémon alike, and the air was thick with conversation and activity. Alex nudged me, and I realized that he was staring at me expectantly.
"Come on, man. Let's go check out our rooms and grab some food."
He led me down a narrow hallway and opened a door to a room. I stepped inside and blinked in surprise. The room was small but clean and well-furnished. There was a bed, a desk, and a bathroom. Alex threw his bag down on the floor and collapsed on the bed. He looked tired, and I couldn't help but feel bad for him. He had taken me in without a second thought, and I hadn't said thank you. I turned around and left, closing the door softly behind me.
The first thing I saw when I entered the lobby was a massive billboard that had pictures of different pokemon on it. I stared at it in fascination and felt something tug inside me. I knew that I would one day find my own pokemon and start my journey. But for now, I had a whole new world to explore and a budding relationship to nurture. Alex's words echoed in my mind as I wandered the city streets. He had said that Rustboro City was a great place to find Pokeballs and potions, and I knew that it would be a good place to start.
I walked up to a store that sold the stuff and picked out a couple of potions and a few balls. I'd need to go get registered to have a Pokemon, but for now, it would be nice to have something for emergencies. I paid for my stuff and wandered around for a while, admiring the sights and sounds of the city. People stared at me and whispered to each other, but I didn't care. I was enjoying my newfound freedom and didn't want to let anyone ruin it for me.
One good question would be why the hell are they staring at me. Surely They see homeless people and vagrants all the time, so why the hell are they staring?
Another question would be what the fuck am I going to do to get a pokemon? Maybe I could steal one or capture one myself. I'm assured that i could take out the wild pokemon around here. After all, I'm a survivor and always will be.
That night I returned to the Pokemon Center and went to my room. Alex was asleep, and I didn't bother him. I lay on my bed and stared up at the ceiling, thinking about my future and how I was going to get a pokemon. The next morning, an announcement was being made in the center lobby that trainers were welcome to sign up for the Rustboro Gym Challenge. I immediately knew this was my chance and hurried to join the line.
As I stood there waiting, I wondered if I was crazy. I didn't even have a pokemon, and I doubted that anyone would let me borrow one. But I had to try. When it was my turn, the gym leader looked me up and down and smiled.
"Ah, a young man with a dream. You look like you have a lot of potential. She gave me well crafted smile clearly a display for the public eye. " Unfortunately, I can't let you join the trainers program without a pokemon of your own. But I suggest you head to the town square where i heard they would be doing challenges for getting a pokemon. Good luck!" She handed me a flyer and waved me away.
I felt disappointed but not surprised. I headed to the town square and found a group of trainers battling it out with their pokemon. I watched for a while, trying to figure out where to sign up. Finally, I spotted a table with a clipboard and a pen. I approached cautiously and signed my name. The lady at the table smiled and handed me a note with my name on it.
"The challenge would start at the entrance of petalburg woods tomorrow morning. Please arrive on time." I pocketed the note and walked away.
