Chapter 13 - The Labyrinth of Knossos

Chapter 13 - The Labyrinth of Knossos

“Right this way,” the receptionist beckoned as she led Tetsuya and Chelsea down a long corridor.

The duo had been summoned by Oswald Porter, the Guild Master of Midgard’s Adventurers’ Guild.

The receptionist gently knocked on the door thrice. “Tetsuya Miyazaki and Chelsea are here as you requested,” the receptionist announced.

“Send them in,” a gruff voice commanded from behind a pair of large wooden doors.

The receptionist opened the door and gave the duo a polite nod as she held the door

Tetsuya’s eyes wandered around the small, sparsely decorated office. From a glance, one would not expect such a quaint room to be the office of one of the most powerful men in all of the Frostlands. At the center of the room was a desk full of stacks of paperwork. Behind the desk sat a tall, middle-aged man in his early forties. He was quite muscular, his physique could put men half his age to shame. His body was covered in scars, the most prominent one was a diagonal scar running across his face. This was a man who had seen a lifetime of battles and earned his position as the Guild Master of Midgard’s Adventurers’ Guild.

“Never seen you here before,” the Guild Master said, lifting his eyes from the mountain of paperwork in front of him. He carefully studied Tetsuya’s face, his intimidating glance made Tetsuya desperately want to look away, but the boy stood firm and maintained eye contact with the grizzled warrior.

“I just moved here recently,” Tetsuya replied.

“Where do you hail from?” the Guild Master asked.

The question caught him off guard. It was such a simple question anybody should have been able to answer it in an instant. Anybody who didn’t come from another world. “F-from far away,” Tetsuya stammered nervously.

“What town? What city?” the Guild Master pressed on further. “Bergman’s Village? Cullen’s Town? Fort Larsen?”

“Why can’t he just ask me why I don’t have ears and a tail like everyone else does?” Tetsuya thought to himself as panic began to set in.

The Guild Master stared at Tetsuya wordlessly for what seemed like an eternity.

“I’ve been told that you’re staying with Roland Eicher,” the Guild Master spoke, mercifully ending the moment of silence. “And that he’s taken you in as a student. Is that correct?"

“Yes sir,” Tetsuya nodded.

“Roland is a close friend of mine,” the Guild Master said with a sigh. “I know he would never waste him time taking someone as a student unless he saw something in them. I trust his judgement."

Tetsuya breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced over at Chelsea expecting her to be smirking like she usually does in a situation like this. To his surprise, she too had a look of relief on her face.

The Guild Master stood up. “Allow me to formally introduce myself,” he spoke in a loud, commanding voice. “I am Oswald Shepherd, Guild Master of the Adventurers’ Guild of Midgard. If there’s anything you need in your career as an adventurer, I’m the man to come talk to.”

Oswald reached out his hand to Tetsuya, the boy was not the least bit surprised at the Guild Master’s crushingly firm handshake.

“Now, let’s get down to business,” Oswald sat down back in his chair and beckoned from Tetsuya and Chelsea to sit down on the chairs across from him.

“MacGregor briefed me on the part the two of you played at Galanis’ Village,” Oswald said as he rummaged through the drawers on his desk. “I wanted to congratulate the two of you on a job well done.”

Finding what he was looking for, Oswald tossed a dog tag to Chelsea, then one to Tetsuya.

“Congratulations,” Oswald smirked. “You’ve both been promoted to Rank C adventurers.

Tetsuya turned to Chelsea, the half-orc girl’s face was beaming with joy as she took off her old dog tag and put on her new one that reflected her updated rank. The boy followed suit, putting on his new dog tag.

“Now that you are both Rank C adventurers, you are eligible to take part in Rank C contracts. Higher rank contracts means you’ll be facing higher rank threats, which of course means higher rewards,” Oswald explained. “You are now also eligible to participate dungeon raids, as long your party leader is Rank B or higher.”

“Dungeon raids? Sounds dangerous,” Tetsuya thought to himself. “Better to stick to just simple, safer contracts for now.”

“Are there any dungeon raids available right now?” Chelsea asked excitedly.

Tetsuya hung his head in defeat. “Dammit, Chelsea...” he thought to himself.”

Oswald smirked. “As a matter of fact there is,” Oswald said as he pulled out a map from his drawer. “Scouts have reported an unusually high amount of monster activity in the Labyrinth of Knossos.” the Guild Master said as he placed a marker on the map. From a quick glance, the Labyrinth of Knossos appeared to be about a day away from Midgard on horseback.

“We can’t have these monsters settling in this close to our city. They’ll be a threat to travelers coming to and from Midgard,” Oswald continued. “I want you to go in there and wipe them out. Any treasure you find is yours.”

“Any idea who we will be working with?” Chelsea asked.

“Duncan MacGrergor will be leading bravo team. Liam Cullen will be there as well,” Oswald replied.

Tetsuya breathed a little easier. He found comfort in the fact that his friends would be there.

“I’ve assigned my subordinate Henry Dalton to lead alpha team,” Oswald continued.

“Henry’s back?” Chelsea grinned excitedly.

Oswald nodded. “His excursion to Svartalfheim has served him well,” the Guild Master replied. “He’s even stronger now than he was the last time you saw him,” he mused to himself.

“I won’t let him leave me behind,”

“Joining Henry will be Galatea Stavropoulos, Oliver Reed and Kiyoko Fujiwara.”

Tetsuya raised an eyebrow. “Kiyoko Fujiwara?” he pondered to himself. “Sounds like a Japanese name. I wonder if Truck-kun got her too.” Tetsuya shook his head. “No, she’s probably a Farlander, like what everyone thinks I am.”

“Let’s see...” Chelsea thought out loud. “I know Galatea is a bard. But I’ve never worked with Oliver or Kiyoko before. What classes are they?” Chelsea asked.

“Oliver is a rogue and Kiyoko is a samurai.” Oswald replied. “The two of them are visiting here from the Kingdom of Alfheim.”

“Samurai?” Tetsuya muttered mindlessly to himself. “Well, that’s going to be interesting.”

“The only one in the group who specializes in support and healing is Galatea. Will she really be enough to cover for the rest of us?” Chelsea spoke up, voicing her concern.

Oswald smirked. “Six of you have received an invitation to the Queen’s Tournament.” he said, carefully watching the expressions on Tetsuya and Chelsea’s faces. “I don’t think you’ll run into any problems.”

“Six of us?” Chelsea’s mouth was agape.

“Henry, Oliver and Kiyoko will also be participating in the Queen’s Tournament,” Oswald informed them.

“I see,” Chelsea said, a smile spreading on her face. “So, you set up this raid...”

“Because paperwork is boring,” Oswald cut her off. “I need something interesting to look forward to. So, do try to make your reports a little bit interesting for my sake.” the Guild Master turned his attention back to his mountain of paperwork and motioned for them to leave him be.

Chelsea turned to Tetsuya on their way out. “Looks like we’re about to get a sneak peak at our competition,” she smiled ecstatically.

----------------------------------------

The group of adventurers stood at the entrance of the Labyrinth of Knossos. The two teams traveled in separate horse-drawn wagons, so their interactions had been limited so far. The members of the two teams exchanged brief introductions and pleasantries back at Midgard before they departed for this dungeon raid. But only now did the two teams have the time to properly get acquainted with each other.

Tetsuya recognized Galatea, she was the faun bard that he occasionally saw busking around town. She was quite a good guitarist and her singing voice was sugary sweet. She reminded him of a certain stylish musical artist from America, but when he tried to remember her name he just drew a blank space. He always wondered how a faun ended up living in the Free City while the rest of her race lived so far away from the city.

“Sounds like a hell of a battle,” Henry said as he walked beside Liam and Chelsea “Wish I could have been there to help.”

“You would have just gotten in our way,” Liam teased him.

“I could have at least stood around and cheered you guys on,” Henry flashed them a good-natured smile.

“So, what have you been doing doing in Svartalfheim all this time?” Chelsea asked.

“Frost giants have been attacking the trade routes between their cities,” Henry replied. “At first I was just there to escort merchants carrying medical supplies between cities. Eventually, they paid me to lead a group of Svartalfheimian adventurers to pillage the frost giants’ encampments and drive them back south.”

“Pretty crazy that they’d hire a human to lead such an important job,” Liam said. “We all know how dark elves feel about us lesser races.”

“Can’t argue with results,” Henry grinned.

“Henry seems pretty close to Chelsea, Liam and MacGregor,” Testuya thought. “They must have all known each other for a pretty long time.”

Sitting by himself, sharpening his dagger was Oliver. He was a tall, emaciated man. His most striking feature were his sunken eyes. He looked up to see Tetsuya staring at him. Tetsuya awkwardly looked away and Oliver continued to sharper his dagger. There was something off about him, but Tetsuya couldn’t quite put his his finger on it.

“I don’t think he’s sketchy or anything,” Tetsuya thought. “But-”

“Where are your ears and your tail?” a gentle voice called out from behind him.

Tetsuya turned around and saw a young woman with distinctly Japanese facial features staring curiously as him. She wore an olive green yukata and on her hip she carried a katana. On her head was a pair of fluffy fox-like ears. Swaying playfully behind her was a fluffy fox-like tail.

“Oh, a kitsune,” Tetsuya muttered to himself. “Well, that solves that long-running mystery.”

“My name is Kiyoko Fujiwara,” she introduced herself with a slight bow.

“Tetsuya Miyazaki,” he returned a courteous bow.

Kiyoko’s swaying fluffy fox-like tail caught the boy’s eyes once again.

“Fujiwara-san,” Tetsuya strengthened his resolve to ask a question that’s been burning in his mind.

Kiyoko tilted her head to the side. “What is it?” she asked.

“I know this might sound a little weird but,” Tetsuya quickly blurted out his words. “Can I touch your fluffy tail?”

The kitsune brought her tail close to the boy’s hand. Reluctantly, Tetsuya reached out and gave Kiyoko’s fluffy tail a few gentle strokes.

“Oh,” Tetsuya said with a disappointed sigh.

“What did you think would happen?” Kiyoko asked curiously.

“N-nothing,” Tetsuya shook his head.

----------------------------------------

“Alright, ladies and gentlemen, let’s get this show on the road,” Henry said, addressing everyone. “Alpha team will take point. Bravo team will follow and cover our rear in case we need to make a retreat. This dungeon is pitch-black, Galatea, Liam, we’ll need the two of you to activate Guiding Light.”

Galatea began to play a few notes on her guitar. Immediately, she radiated a warm glow that illuminated the entrance of the labyrinth. Liam waved his hand, casting the same spell to light the area for his own team.

“Everyone, move out,” MacGregor said.

With that, the adventurers descended upon the Labyrinth of Knossos.

“What kind of monsters should we be expecting here?” Tetsuya asked with a hint of nervousness as he walked beside Chelsea.

“Typically, whatever monsters are found in the local ecosystem that have a strong nesting instinct and posses Darksight are what you would find settling inside a dungeon,” Chelsea explained. “Since we’re in the Forest of Erinyes, the usual things we should watch out for are middle races like lamia and harpies.”

“You’ve done your homework,” Henry called out from the the front. “I’m impressed.”

Chelsea smirked. “You’re not the only one who’s been pushing forward these past few months.”

Henry stopped abruptly in his tracks. “Kill the lights,” he said.

Galatea and Liam cancelled their Guiding Light spell, leaving the whole group shrouded in darkness.

“Torches up ahead,” Henry spoke softly. “Something’s here.”

"Weapons ready,” MacGregor commanded.

Tetsuya palmed his sword. He could see the light moving towards their direction. “Something’s carrying torches,” he thought. “If it can use tools like torches then it’s definitely a middle race.”

“Goblins up ahead,” Oliver said. “Looks like there’s eight of them.”

“How can you tell?” Galatea asked.

“I have Darksight,” Oliver replied. “Want me to take care of them?”

“Can you handle you handle them on your own?” Henry asked.

“Piece of cake,” Oliver replied.

“Cullen, get within casting range of them,” MacGregor said. “Cover him just in case.”

“You got it,” Liam replied.

Standing in pitch-black darkness was unnerving for Tetsuya. An attack could come from any direction and he would never know it. At any given moment a goblin could sneak up behind him and slit his throat. And he would never see it coming, that was the most terrifying part about it.

After a few moments, he heard a commotion up ahead. Within seconds it was over. The torches were all snuffed out.

“Coast is clear,” Oliver called out from up ahead.

“Give us some light,” MacGregor said.

Liam and Galatea cast Guiding Light once again and the group of adventurers proceeded ahead.

Tetsuya looked down at the dead goblins as he passed by. Each of their throats were slit with a single, lethal cut. None of them saw it coming. Oliver’s skills were truly terrifying.

“Good job,” Galatea said smiling at Oliver.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Oliver silently nodded to acknowledge her praise.

The group walked together is silence. Their brief encounter with the pack of goblins had made them all thread more cautiously. They were in a dungeon raid after all. There was no room for errors.

“Hold up,” MacGregor said, halting the group. “There’s a treasure chest over there,” he said pointing at towards a treasure chest sitting in the corner of the labyrinth.

Everyone’s face lit up.

“Could be a mimic,” Henry reminded the group. “I mean, it’s basically just screaming for a sucker to come and try to open it.”

“Right, right...” MacGregor thought for a moment. “Cullen, go check it out.”

“What? Why me?” Liam asked.

MacGregor gave Liam a playful shove. “Stop wasting time and just go do it.”

Liam threaded towards the treasure chest ever so cautiously, his sheleighleigh in his right hand, ready to strike down any threat.

“Hurry up!” MacGregor yelled, startling the high elf.

Liam let out a battle cry as he hammered away mercilessly at the treasure chest. After a minute of his brutal assault, the treasure chest fell over revealing that it was empty.

“It’s empty, guys,” Liam announced to the group. “False alarm.”

Everyone was engulfed in a fit of laughter. All except for Oliver who was as stone-faced as he’s been the entire time.

The adventurers continued on.

“So, you guys are going to be competing in the Queen’s Tournament, huh?” Chelsea spoke, finally addressing the elephant in the room.

“That’s right,” Henry replied. “In a just a few days we’ll be facing each other as opponents.”

“No hard feelings when I kick your asses, right?” Liam asked with a cocky grin.

“Please go easy on us, I’d hate to end up like that treasure chest back there.” Chelsea retorted.

Kiyoko covered her mouth and attempted to stifle her laughter, but to no avail.

“Do you guys think any of us stand a chance against beating a member of the Queensguard?” Henry wondered out loud.

Everyone fell silent.

“To win the Queen’s Tournament, we’d have to defeat at least one member of the Queensguard on one-on-one combat. Depending on where we all fall in the bracket, we might even have to face more than one.” Henry continued on. “Feels like were lamb being led to the slaughter.”

“Alexis could do it,” Chelsea replied honestly. “Liam too.”

“There’s a student studying at Alfheim Royal Academy, Arthur Prescott,” Kiyoko said.

“Prescott?” Chelsea asked.

Kiyoko nodded. “Lord Edward’s son,” she explained. “People say at the pace he’s going, he’ll easily surpass his father soon. I think he has a good chance of winning the Queen’s Tournament as well.”

“You’ve met him, right Liam?” Henry asked. “What’s he like?”

Liam shrugged. “Maybe when we were kids,” he replied. “If I did, I’d probably be too young to remember.”

“Why would Liam know Lord Edward’s son?” Tetsuya thought for a moment.

"Liam Cullen, is it?" Lord Edward studied his face. "You wouldn't happen to be-"

"It's a common family name," the high elf lied, but the five-leaf clover emblem that he wore told the truth.

“Alexis Forrester, Liam Cullen and Arthur Prescott,” Oliver said. “The Three Young Lions. That’s what they call you. Did you know that?”

Liam didn’t answer.

“I’ve met Arthur, I’ve seen him fight,” Oliver continued. “One of the finest swordsmen I have ever met. A paragon of justice, just like his father. I don’t think I could ever beat him. Not if I had a thousand years to train. Yet, they say he’s only the third hungriest of the lions. They say that Liam is far hungrier than him. And Alexis, the hungriest lion still.”

“I came to Midgard to see for myself,” Oliver said, staring Liam in his eyes. “If you’re as hungry as they say.”|

“People like to talk,” Liam said with a shrug, walking away from the conversation.

“What just happened here?” Tetsuya wondered, looking out at Liam. “Am I missing something?”

----------------------------------------

“Guys, do you hear that?” Chelsea asked, drawing everyone’s eyes towards her.

“Footsteps,” Galatea said. “A lot of footsteps.”

“Kill the lights,” Henry ordered once again.

“Hug the wall,” Oliver said. Thinking quickly, he used his dark magic to cast Shadow Veil on himself and his allies, concealing them in the dark.

“Don’t move. Don’t make a sound,” Oliver instructed.

The adventurers watched as a procession of orcs and goblins marched through the labyrinth in front of them. Their forces easily stood over a hundred soldiers strong.

Tetsuya noticed that many of the goblins were carrying wild boars, deer and even a few bears on their backs.

“Hurry up!” an orc growled ferociously. “Do not keep the master waiting!”

An orc stopped and turned towards Tetsuya, staring right into his eyes.

In a state of panic, the boy opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out. He looked down and saw Chelsea had placed her hand tightly over his mouth.

The orc continued to stare for a few moments. Each second feeling like an eternity.

“What is it?” another orc asked.

“Nothing,” the first orc replied. “Thought I saw something.”

The procession of orcs and goblins disappeared deeper into the labyrinth.

“We’re clear,” Oliver replied with a sigh of relief.

“Are you alright?” Henry asked walking over to Oliver. “Didn’t think you could hold Shadow Veil eight people for that long.”

“I’m fine,” Oliver replied. “Almost out of mana.”

Henry turned to Galatea. “I’m on it,” Galatea said, playing a soothing melody on her guitar. Within moments Galatea’s song replenished the mana of every ally within earshot of her.

“What’s your count?” MacGregor asked.

“A hundred. A hundred-fifty. Maybe more,” Henry replied.

“So, what’s the plan?” MacGregor asked.

“We kill them all,” Henry replied.

----------------------------------------

“Shit,” MacGregor said. “It’s a minotaur.”

“Well, there goes that plan,” Henry said.

“I mean it wasn’t really much a plan, really,” MacGregor replied.

The adventurers watched from a distance as the orcs and goblins surrounded the minotaur. They laid their bountiful offerings of wild boars, deer, bears and other game meat at the minotaur’s mighty feet. The orcs and goblins bent the knee in submission, acknowledging the minotaur as the apex predator of these group of monsters.

“I fucking hate minotaurs,” Liam muttered to himself. “I fucking hate minotaurs so damn much.”

“I don’t care much for minotaurs either,” Kiyoko said wagging her fluffy tail angrily.

“Vile godless cretins,” Oliver said coldly. “All minotaurs should just die.”

“I agree,” Henry said. “This world would be better off if all minotaurs were dead.”

“Every single last one of them,” MacGregor said shaking his dist.

“Wow,” Tetsuya replied “You guys really hate minotaurs, huh?”

“You have no idea,” Liam said under his breath.

“Fuck minotaurs!” Chelsea shouted, a little louder that she probably should have.

Suddenly, every single monster had their eyes set on the group of adventurers.

“Oops,” Chlesea said with a nervous laugh.

“Bring me their heads!” the minotaur commanded.

The orcs and goblins drew their weapons, crudely made spears and clubs, swords that they pried away from the hands of dead adventurers. The monsters were practically salivating as they set their sights on their new prey. New flesh to feast on, new toys to break.

Kiyoko was the first of the adventurers to step forward. The orcs and goblins howled wildly, their lecherous eyes filled with lust. Three goblins lunged towards her.

She drew her katana and parted her lips, letting out a single word. “Moeru,” she commanded. She hit all three goblins with a single slash. In an instant, their bodies were engulfed in flames, turning their flesh and bones into a pile of ashes.

All were taken aback by her show of strength, even her own allies.

A brave orc stepped forward to be her next challenger. It raised it’s sword and charged at Kiyoko screaming a loud battle cry.

“Kōru,” the kitsune whispered calmly. With a swift attack, her katana left a deep gash on the orc’s chest. Before a drop of blood could even hit the floor, the orc’s body turned to solid ice.

Kiyoko walked up to the frozen orc and pushed it to the ground, shattering it’s body into thousands of pieces.

“Never seen that kind of magic before,” Liam said, a tad bit impressed.

“What kind of magic is that?” Galatea asked in awe.

“Kotodama,” Tetsuya paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain it. “It’s the belief that words have magical powers. Or something. I think."

“I see. It’s similar to a sorcerer’s incantation,” Liam said as he watch Kiyoko slaying enemy after enemy with her unique style of magical combat. “But the mechanics behind it are insane. To achieve that kind of power, a sorcerer would have to repeat the incantation multiple times. But she unleashed that kind of power after uttering a single word.”

“Stop standing around and fight!” MacGregor commanded as he swung his greatsword and decapitated a charging orc.

“Right, right,” Liam said as he cast a barrage of stone shrapnel at the general direction of his enemies. A stone shrapnel to the, a stone shrapnel to the throat, a stone shrapnel to the heart. Liam’s brutal use of magic was enough to make even his most fearless enemies think twice before mindlessly charging at him.

“Feel free to cut loose,” Galatea said with a grin as she played a melody on her guitar. She spun and twirled elegantly, dancing along to her music as she reinvigorated the mana of her allies. Her song magic was specially lethal in tandem with Liam and Kiyoko, she served as a fuel for brutal rampage.

Not wanting to be outdone, Henry charged into the fray. He raised his left hand, on each finger was a ring, a magical artifact like the fire ring that Tetsuya wore. Henry activated each ring in rapid succession. Haste to increase his speed, Nimble to increase his agility, Regen to heal his health over time, and Barrier to lessen the damage he took. Maintaining four magical enhancements in the heat of a battle is notoriously difficult, but even without Galatea acting as a source of mana for him, Henry’s magical aptitude allowed him to do just that. It made him a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

Henry tore through his enemies like a hot knife going through butter. He cut down enemy after enemy like it was child’s play. He used his speed and agility to easily dodge their crude, unrefined attacks, then countered with a devastating. A severed head. A severed limb. A road of blood and death paved behind him.

Having seen enough, the minotaur stood up and drew his massive sword. He towered over his minions, standing at a staggering twelve feet tall. Before he could take a step forward, a dagger tore through his jugular, severing his carotid artery and ending his life in a spectacular spray of arterial blood. Oliver stood over the fallen beast, admiring his handiwork.

“That still only counts as one!” Liam yelled out to him.

Tetsuya caught glimpses of his allies in the midst of battle. He was in awe of their skill and power. But beneath his awe was something else. Resentment. Resentment at the talent his allies were blessed with. Resentment of his own weakness. Deep in his heart he knew he was nothing compared to them. He didn’t deserve to stand against them at the Queen’s Tournament. He didn’t deserve to stand beside them on this battlefield. He was a child, a goddamn child compared to the absolute monsters with overwhelming talent that surrounded him.

The battle ended as soon as it began.

Tetsuya sat quietly by himself. He stared blankly at the dead bodies of their enemies, lost in the thoughts that had been racing through his mind since the start of the battle.

Henry sat down beside the boy. “Where’d you learn to fight like that?” he asked.

“Roland has been teaching me some things,” Tetsuya replied softly.

“Roland? I knew he was a good teacher but I didn’t think he was that good,” Henry mused to himself.

Tetsuya slowly turned his gaze towards Henry.

“The way you moved out there in the battlefield was pretty crazy,” Henry mused to himself.

Tetsuya stared at him blankly.

“Think you could teach me a thing or two one of these days?” Henry asked.

Tetsuya felt his blood boiling.

“I mean you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Henry quickly added. “I mean I know we don’t really know other that well. But-”

“Don’t fucking patronize me!” Tetsuya snapped.

The room fell silent and everyone stared at the two of them.

Tetsuya shook his head. “I know! I know alright!” the boy shouted, trying to hold back the tears in his eyes. “I know I’m not as strong as you! I’m not as strong as any of you! And I probably never will be! You don't have to fucking mock me and talk down to me like I was an autistic child or something!”

Henry reached out a hand and tried to to put it on Testuya’s shoulder, but the boy smacked it away.

“I’m trying my best, alright!?” he said as he began to sob uncontrollably. “But to see where you all are and how far I have to go... I just! I just!”

Chelsea knelt down beside Tetsuya and wrapped her arms around the boy to comfort him.

Henry stared at the boy visibly confused.

“Hey, Tetsuya,” Henry asked as he stared into the boy’s eyes. “How many enemies do you think you killed today?”

Tetsuya looked at him like it was the stupidest question in the world.

“How many enemies do you think you killed today?” Henry asked again.

“I don’t know,” Tetsuya replied. “Seven or eight.”

Everyone in the room looked at each other with a confused look on their face.

Henry looked towards Oliver for confirmation. “I would estimate fifty at the very least.” Oliver replied.

Henry turned towards Kiyoko next. “Somewhere around fifty to sixty.” Kiyoko replied.

“What is this? Some kind of joke?” Tetsuya blurted out. “You’re saying I killed fifty enemies by myself?”

Henry turned towards Chelsea for the final confirmation. “At least fifty.” Chelsea replied.
