The Land of Zetia. A world like ours. Technology, medicine, cell phones, and all. However, this land is still vastly different. For example, the presence of mana. The magical energy that resides in all living things. Those with high amounts of mana possess special abilities that gave them an edge over the rest of society. So naturally, royalty and nobility had high mana power.
With the numerous amounts of technological advancements, you would assume they would form a powerful government giving equal power to everyone. No, not in the slightest. Zetia is ruled by an absolute monarchy. Apparently, there was a time when they were considering having a democracy instead. The vote was tied and ended up being decided by a game of rock paper scissors. Not a smart idea to decide the future of a kingdom on a game of rock paper scissors.
However, a new conflict arose. Just who would have the power? The men, or the women? This argument had developed into an all-out Civil War pitting the feminine gender against the masculine gender. War was long and tedious. Families were torn apart, building crumbled, and peace seemed almost impossible. The leader of the females, Mary Daiyamo grew tired of the everlasting conflict and thought of a compromise to end the war. In the end, the war ended with a rock paper scissors match (best two out of three). Very underwhelming, I know. Mary won the match and women became the dominant gender in Zetia. She was praised as the first Queen of Zetia and labeled “the savior of the world.” It’s crazy how much history can be exaggerated over the years, huh?
Of course, you can’t talk about Zetia without talking about its rival countries. Nepter, the Lava realm, and Swagtion, the Swamplands. The inhabitants of these countries were the Hogs and Ogres respectively. They weren’t too happy once their ally became a female dominant country. The two countries cut ties with Zetia and often work together to take it over. However, they’ve never once been successful as Mary Daiyamo was there to completely obliterate them. It’s hilarious, you should’ve seen it.
Well, that’s enough exposition, let’s jump about 120 years into the future, shall we?
Ever since she was young, she was extraordinarily gifted. Blessed by the mana of the world, Eliza Daiyamo was soon to be the next Queen. The granddaughter of the famous Mary Daiyamo, Eliza is the most popular person in the kingdom. Well-rounded in offense, defense, intelligence, agility, you name it. Not to mention, her looks. Long red hair that reached her waist with lovely blue eyes and milky white skin. She wore a plump blue dress that was a bit hard to move in, but she made it work. She had a smile that would bring warmth to anyone. In short, the perfect heir to the throne. The highest authority in the kingdom. She became Queen at the young age of 19 after her mother’s sudden passing. No one in the kingdom really thinks she can be Queen though. She was too young they would say. She eats too much they would say. Although, with her strong resolve and power, she’s determined to live up to her mom’s name.
According to the law, each queen is provided with a personal knight. Trained to be an expert swordsman, his sworn duty is always to be at the Queen’s side, fighting her battles, making sure she doesn’t need to lift a finger. Enter James Boeing, a 17-year-old citizen of the middle class. The first time he laid eyes on Queen Eliza was when she guest-starred on his favorite television drama, “Silver’s Structure.” It wasn’t that great of a show, so the producers brought in Eliza to boost the ratings. It was a total success. She was soon to be Queen. Why wouldn’t it work? Alas, I’m getting off-topic.

James instantly fell in love with Eliza. Not just because she was the most gorgeous woman in the Kingdom, but her status as well. There are many ways of increasing your power and status in Zetia. Buying land, starting a business, or hoping you have good enough luck to cash out at the lottery. By far the easiest way was to gain recognition from someone of high status. They would praise you, celebrate you, and the whole kingdom would know your name! So, James enrolled in a Knight class hoping that one day, he’ll be appointed as the knight of Queen Eliza. That way, he could easily gain merit from the good deeds he was bound to do. After a few months, somehow, James became the lucky knight of Queen Eliza. Today is his first day on the job…
He straightened his messy black hair and stood up straight. So straight that even if you balanced ten cartons of eggs on his head, they would not move an inch.
“I pledge my allegiance to you, Queen Eliza.” James kneeled before his newly appointed Queen. “I shall protect you with my life! Nothing will get in your way. I do this all for you, my Queen.”
Queen Eliza stared at him funny. He was really into this knight stuff, huh? Trying not to laugh at his over-the-top speech, she cleared her throat.
“Well thanks, I guess. But I don’t really need a knight. I’m perfectly strong on my own with my mana…” She said. James furiously shook his head.
“Nonsense my queen! I shall protect you always. With my heart and soul. I’ll follow you everywhere.” He pounded his chest.
“Even to the bathroom?”
“Yes.”
Eliza scrunched her face. Having him as a knight could prove to be troublesome for her. He was trying way too hard. Best to send him away somewhere.
“Hey, could you run an errand for me-“
“Anything for you my queen!” James interrupted her.
Eliza gave a confused look at the young man. I thought chivalry was dead, she thought to herself. Nevertheless, she thought it was funny and decided to play along.
“Sir James Boeing, honorary knight to the queen, I want you to…” Eliza paused to build up suspense. James was eager to learn his first mission.
“Go buy groceries from the store!” Eliza exclaimed. James’s face quickly changed from excited to confused. Why was he going on a fetch quest?
“Uh. Queen Eliza… Is that all?” He asked, hoping for something more “knight” like. Eliza loved this reaction on his face.
“Ahem. As the honorary knight of Queen Eliza, you should be able to take on ANY task, isn’t that right?” Eliza questioned. She tilted her head while asking.
“Well, yea but-“
“Then it’s decided. Go buy some groceries for your dear Queen.” Eliza had a smug look on her face, clearly enjoying this.
James, trying his hardest not to show his disappointment, accepted the quest. “You will not be disappointed, my majesty! Any specific requests?”
Eliza placed her finger on her cheek as she began to think. Though she was supposed to be the role model of the kingdom, she was a complete glutton and took her food very very seriously.
“Well, I want to make roasted pork for dinner. So I need you to get some rice, celery, soy sauce, vegetable oil, some pans, turnips, onions, grapes, potatoes, bacon, frying oil, a spatula, pepper, salt, paprika, and some non-alcoholic wine because we’re not old enough to drink.” On top of the long list, she said it as fast as she could.
Safe to say, James did not get any of it. At this point, his fake smile was on the verge of becoming a real frown.
“Oh, I almost forgot! Buy some pork because I’m making roasted pork.” Eliza added. It was a fairly obvious ingredient and it’s impossible to know how she forgot about it.
Several hours pass as James finally delivers the groceries to the castle. He didn’t get anything on the list except for pork. It was the only ingredient that his brain took in. Despite the shortcomings of ingredients, Eliza was still happy anyway and gave James a thumbs up.
Finally. Some recognition, James thought. It only goes up from here.
