4 - Lesser Apostle II

4 - Lesser Apostle II

The Apostle's large jagged claws swiped at Mikael relentlessly, as he weaved and dodged every single slash.

Gwynne kept shooting spells from the distance, four magic circles permanently shooting out a continuous barrage of large ice crystals that exploded into countless shards, the blasts sometimes landing lucky hits that would distract it, while the shards consistently hit, keeping it's focus split on dodging the lethal hits from Gwynne and trying to not get countered by Mikael.

A stray crystal exploded near the Apostle's eye, making the shards imbed themselves into its face, its eyes gone, replaced by countless glittering remains of the ice shards that hit their mark.

This sudden wound made it back off in pain, blindly swinging its claws around in a desperate attempt to defend itself.

Mikael used this to his advantage, and broke the Apostle down.

He started with the goat like legs, breaking the knees as he crushed bones into fragments

With it crashing down, Mikael proceeded to beat the Apostle as it laid on the ground, slamming his mace unto it's head, the mace head went straight through it's head and came out the other side.

When he was confident he had sufficiently damaged the Apostle's head, he moved on to the arms, breaking every single bone and tearing it apart, before he finally arrived at the torso, where he proceeded to imbed his mace into it's center as he punched countless holes into the Apostle.

One of the Apostle's arms healed, and smacked Mikael away, shredding him with its claws as the damaged parts fully healed, this time though, the Apostle's body had adapted to the magical harassment that Gwynne was doing, and had regrown with bone-like armor plates.

As Mikael backflipped and recovered from the hit, he looked to his left to see his arm and sides mangled, looking back to the Apostle, he snapped the fingers of his right arm, disappearing from his spot and appearing right infront of the Apostle's body, gripping his mace, his left side now fully healed.

He ripped it out of the Apostle's torso, creating an open wound, and threw it up in the air, as he grabbed deep into the wound his mace had been in and used it to damage it further.

The Apostle used its claws to try and shred the Seraphim punching its chest once again, but Mikael saw this, and jumped off as the Apostle's claws tore deep into its own chest.

Midair, he felt a numbness seep into his bones, and he snapped his fingers, vanishing once again as a moment later, an extremely large needle seemingly made of transparent glass went through the Apostle's neck, tearing its head clean off as a large portion near the fresh wound instantly froze

Seconds later, five more glass needles hit the Apostle's arms and legs, one needle for each limb, tearing them off and freezing the area around it.

As it started to fall forward on its face, the fifth struck dead center, pulling the Apostle's crippled body into the ground, pinning it, as the area around it froze.

The Apostle was a frozen statue now, and Mikael right above it, slammed his mace down onto the needle.

As dawn broke, the Apostle's entire body shattered into small, crystallized chunks.

The Lesser Apostle never spoke once during the fight, and died an undignified, honourless death.

Mikael's weird eye shifted as he grabbed the red crystal that came out of the Apostle's body, the air near his head revealed a small hole, and Mikael shoved the crystal in. The hole closed right after.

An ice flower grew near him, and Gwynne appeared.

"Did you get it's crystal?" She asked him bluntly.

"Yes." Mikael looked at her.

"Give it to me."

"No, you'll just eat it."

"Of course I will! Don't you know how much those crystals can help in improving a mage!?"

"I'm not giving it to you."

"Why."

"We need proof to give to the Archpriest."

Gwynne clicked her tongue, "Fuck, I forgot about about that."

Mikael only hummed and held out his hand.

"What?" Gwynne raised an eyebrow.

"Teleport us back."

"Fucking lazy bastard, fine." She grumbled, grabbing his arm by the wrist and teleporting away to the flower nearest to the camp.

Back at the camp, they went towards the Kyrios who was waiting outside the central tent.

The Kyrios bowed as he greeted them. "My Seraphims."

The three of them went inside the tent as the Kyrios started his report.

"There were no casualties amongst the citizens, nor our ranks, there were a couple strays that had snuck around the battlefield and tried to attack our formation, but we handled them.

The priests have reported that the purity of the air and earth have went back to normal after the Lesser Apostle's transformation, it seems that the Lesser Apostle took in all the surrounding Scourge's Taint and used it in the fight."

Gwynne let Mikael do the talking as she stared at him.

Mikael nodded in approval, "Good work, let the citizens go back to their tents and rest, tell the troops to rest aswell. Dismissed."

"Thank you, My Seraphim."

Mikael went out and Gwynne followed.

A couple of minutes passed as Mikael walked around, Gwynne following him, silent.

Stopping at a secluded part of the camp, he turned to Gwynne and asked her directly, "Why have you been following me? I'm not gonna give you the crystal."

"I'm not after the crystal." She replied, "I'm here to ask you something."

"Shoot."

"What the hell happened to you before the fight? You started twitching like crazy, your voice was being weird as hell along with your weird eye... then your entire demeanor and aura changed into something totally different."

"I can't tell you, but all you need to know is that you don't have to worry when it happens."

"The hell do you mean 'don't have to worry'? I thought you got possessed! I almost lopped your head off with an ice spike, for fucks sake!"

Mikael sighed, "Must we really do this here?"

"I'm not budging until you spill."

Mikael went silent for a while as Gwynne stared at him.

"The Archpriest." He finally stated.

"What? What about him?"

"We continue this conversation with the Archpriest present, it's the only way I can think of, that will allow you to understand."

"Why does the Archpriest need to be present? Is it some sort of secret power or something?"

"No, well yes, but no."

"Huh?" Gwynne's face scrunched in confusion.

Mikael groaned, "Look, I literally can't explain it well enough for you to understand, but the Archpriest can, so can we please do it with him present?"

Gwynne stared at him in silence.

She clicked her tongue and was about to walk away, but before she did, she told him, "You will ask the Archpriest to tell me everything."

Mikael could only stare at her back before she went into her own tent.

The pupils in his weird eye shifted around, and he groaned.

"Can you guys shut up, please?"
