XV - BLUE

Still shaken, Clémentine helped Nestor to stand up. He was physically weak because of his wounds, but he noticed that the raw Pourpre Spice filled them.

“How did you reach the astral world?” Nestor asked.

“I saw your body writhe in pain while you were unconscious. That’s when I realised there was another place, so I swallowed some red spice. Then I woke up to Alia. She gave me life—a new life worth fighting for. And she also gave me her power. She told me that this power is too much for one mind, so that’s why she has split it in two for you,” Clémentine explained.

“Yes, the two of us will be even stronger than she was. When one is on the astral plane and the other physical, the astral manoeuvres can resonate with physical time. This will allow us to stop the Pourpre War.”

“Come, we need to go.”

“No, I can’t go with you here. My physical life is completed; Alia gave me the duty to be your astral side.”

“And what about the spice?”

“I have seen the corruption of those who artificially extend their lives with spice. I will not take that risk, especially with the responsibility of our power. People have sacrificed themselves so that I could continue my quest, and it is taking me to the other side.”

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“But how will you survive there?”

“I will survive with the link we will create. We need to mirror our souls to match perfectly through the reality wall before my body gives out.”

“I understand. We should start the bonding ritual.”

They aligned their bodies face to face and took a pinch of the raw Pourpre Spice that they put on their respective tongues. They concentrated in perfect harmony, so that each of their movements mirrored the other. The two then inhaled the spice and closed their eyes. They placed their hands on each other’s hearts, feeling them beat slowly. She and He pressed their mouths together and kissed, exchanging their inner spice, pushing with their winds. They were now completely connected. The two sides of the Wind were now one again. Their hearts were now synchronised. They each took a step back and opened their eyes, noticing an extra sense. It opened a world of collateral sensation to them through this unbreakable link.

The world shook again, but this time, the tremor resounded in the submerged room. They heard a heavy sound coming.

“You have to go, Clémentine,” said Nestor, holding her arms.

“I think you are right. Thank you for everything Nestor; you have helped me to regain my self-confidence, and with poor Alia, you have given me a new life. I don’t say goodbye to you, because we are not really leaving each other. But I say farewell to your body and your pretty face,” she said, kissing his cheek.

Nestor did not hold back his tears. “Farewell, Clémentine. See you soon through the wall.” He kissed her forehead softly.

Clémentine grabbed the knife on the ground and departed quickly. She called over her shoulder, “Don’t forget to kill him when he is back; Alia told me he will be alive for a few minutes soon, but incapable of speaking or moving.”

“I will,” promised Nestor, as he lay back on the floor, totally exhausted and suffering.
