There we are, standing on this heavy-looking stone platform. Surrounding us is a beautiful grassland spanning a few miles with occasional trees sticking out of the ground.
It seems like we are on a rather tall hill. I can see a lake down there, connected to a river, and at the start of the river, a mid-size town. The buildings are rather unique to say the least. “Medieval European” is the only way that I can describe it. Windmills and wheat farms can be seen all over the outer skirt of the town.
I can see a cathedral-like building in the centermost part of the town, clearly the most important building there judging by its sheer size, small houses alongside the river. The river splitting the town into two parts, a few bridges connecting the two sides and a small dock with fishing boats neatly docked down there.
The town is beautiful and all, but I don’t have the time to admire the view, considering the situation I’m currently in.
A group of men stands before us, pointing sharp swords and spears at our clueless faces. Around 10 people maybe? But after a few seconds of staring at our frightened faces, they all lower their weapons.
Eh, what was that for? Are these people good or bad? I’m so confused.
“Ahh~, such fine goods.” A voice said, from the crowd.
“Sorry for scaring you, you see, sometimes, the ‘goods’ here aren’t necessarily ‘fine’ if you know what I mean.” A fine young man stands out from the rest of them, he wears a black suit, just a normal suit. While the others wear heavy-looking armors and robes with weapons in their hands.
“Umm~ Let’s see. I need to assess all of you before anything.”
He quickly walks toward us and starts pointing at everyone while giving his ‘assessments’.
“You’re 5” he points at Aleki.
“You’re 4” he points at Ricardo
“You’re 3” he points at Anna
“You’re 2” he points at Stephan
“You’re 2” he points at me
He just keeps going for all the 17 of us, while another guy writes it all down on a small piece of paper. I’m a bit offended that he scores me a 2 to be honest. But never mind that, why did he ‘assess’ us?
I have a gut feeling telling me that I will be sold as a slave or something. I need to think, fast.
We outnumbered them but they are armed to the teeth, so fighting isn’t a viable option. We can run, but half of us might not make it. We could also take the man in the suit hostage, he seems like an important person. Though I might be too pessimistic here, they might not even be evil.
Before I could think of any conclusion, Aleki steps forward to the man and grab him by the neck.
“Now, now, we don’t want to have any trouble here? Let us explain ourselves before you do anything stupid Mr…?” The man said, unafraid. Even though there’s a man almost twice his size choking him, he doesn’t seem to have trouble breathing.
“Aleki” Aleki replied with a monotone voice, releasing his tight grip on the man’s neck.
“Right, Mr. Aleki, I bet you are confused right now. I bet you all are. No memories, woke up to a group of armed men. I’ve been there, so I can understand your feelings.”
“…” No one replies.
“Let me assure you, we mean no harm. We are here to help you. My name is Jean Baptiste and I’m going to be your Greeter. I will explain everything about this world and get you set for a new life here. But first, for formality's sake, Welcome to Lusan!.”
“Lusan?” -Aleki
“You are no longer on Earth! And most importantly, you are most likely, dead! Yayy…” He said while clapping his hands.
“We are… Dead? What do you mean by that?” -Ricardo
“Yes, you are transported here from our old world. Reincarnation, rebirth, teleportation… Whatever you wanna call it. The reason, we still don’t know. But you are here and whether you like it or not, you have to accept this new reality.” -Jean
There was a few seconds of silence there, all of us are still trying to grasp on what he says.
“What did you mean ‘our world’?” -John
“Ah~, yes. I’m also from Earth, came here 12 years ago, just like you all. We are what people here would call ‘tourists’ or ‘Terran’. My personal favorite is ‘dirty devils’, people in the North would call us that hahaha.” -Jean
Interesting… So, there are others like us.
Jean then goes on to explain about a lot of things, he also answers all of our questions.
So, if I have to make a summary of everything that I knew so far…
We tourists came from that underground cave called ‘Incunabulum’, basically a spawn point for every Earth dweller that got teleported here. No one knows why it happens or how. There are a lot of theories but none were proven true. There are lots of these spawn points all of over Lusan, the one where I came from is called “Catania Cavum” named after the town nearby. Every few months or sometimes years, a group of people would appear from down there.
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Jean came from an organization that was founded to help Terran, people like us integrate into Lusan’s society and protect us from being tricked into slavery. Before the organization was founded, nations would treat ‘tourists’ as slaves.
The organization was made up of a lot of smaller groups, allying with each other. They call themselves the Terran Union. The way Jean explains it, it's a mutual relationship between tourists-majority groups. They trade with each other, fight together, and help each other. Basically a country without any specific governing body or ruling system or even sovereign territory.
“Why we don’t remember anything?” someone suddenly asked.
“Ah~ That’s a bit tricky to answer, no one knows why most of our memories were wiped out, some say it's just the side effect of transportation here, others have differing views. But don’t worry, you will slowly regain pieces of your memories after a while. My only advice is, don’t force the memory to come back, it will only hurt the process even more.” -Jean
---------------
It seems like an hour or so has passed, Jean is still diligently explaining everything to us. He even explains the existence of magic. He didn’t elaborate on that topic though. Granted, it will take weeks to explain everything to us, so he only explains about the most important of topics.
Magic? I thought that only exist in video games. How does it work? I wanna ask him so badly but he says he has to leave the town at night. I guess it's better to learn it later, now I have to focus on understanding how to survive in this ‘medieval’ world without modern technology.
“And that’s how the currency here works… You can obtain coins by working, obviously. You can also join the Adventurer’s Guild if you love exploring the wilderness while also making some cash. If you don’t, you can come with me to the capital, I’m sure the Terran Union can provide a position for you in our ranks.” Jean explains.
ADVENTURER’S GUILD? My gamer brain finally activates its last 2 remaining neurons, hell yea I want to be an adventurer. That sounds way better than whatever he is proposing, some government job in the capital, sounds like a boring office desk job.
Suddenly, I hear galloping of horses coming from my back, the sound slowly becomes clearer over time. Another group of men, armed and ready, these guys give off a different vibe than Jean's private guards, a hostile vibe. They stop right in front of us, the leader went straight to Jean…
“We heard the bell, this the new ones?” The guy said, looking down on Jean.
“Yes, and who are you?” -Jean
“Doesn’t matter, we are taking them.” He mocked
“No, you’re not.” Jean quickly counter.
“Look, these are Terrans, direct properties of the Union. You must’ve known the rules about this. Whoever you’re working for, they need to buy slaves elsewhere.” -Jean
“We work for no one” He replied, followed by waves of laughter coming from his men.
“Ah~ so you are bandits? And you want to threaten us to give them to you?” -Jean
“So, you finally understand. I thought your brain is too s-“
“You are threatening us? Don’t make me laugh, just leave before you get yourself hurt boy.” Jean, not even a hint of fear coming out from his face. He just turns his back on the guy and comes back to us.
“Ah~, what an idiot~” -Jean
The leader looks angry, I don’t know why Jean is so confident, should we be worried? Their numbers are literally 5 times larger than his guards. If anything ugly happens, I will just run to the town, they will probably ignore an unarmed skinny dude like me.
The leader finally explodes he pulls out a small dagger and sprints towards Jean.
Jean quickly turns his back, not even evading the attack, he catches the guy’s hand, I can hear the sounds of bones breaking from the leader’s arm. How strong is this Jean guy?
“Ah~ I knew this would happen. Some people just don’t know when to stop.”-Jean
“ARGHHH! MY HAND!!” He screamed in agony.
“Welp, he turned” I heard the guards behind me talk
“Someone’s bout to die” Another giggles.
They are talking about Jean, his face is no longer that of the ‘Mr nice guy’ anymore, with a friendly approachable demeanor, no, he changed. His eyes are emitting malicious intents. Jean then takes that dagger off of the screaming man’s hand.
“I told… you…. I told… you…” Jean mumbles under his breath.
The sharp dagger ran through the leader’s arm, his whole right arm fell to the ground. Blood gushing out of it. No one stopped Jean, not even the bandits, the aura he emits is… evil.
He didn’t stop there, another arm fell off, this time the left.
His blood stains the green grass blades on the ground. His scream slowly fades away as the final blow was delivered, this time to the heart. No hesitation from Jean, I can’t believe he is the same person as the one that answered our questions earlier.
All I can hear is heavy breathing from Jean as he throws the dead body toward the bandits.
They pick it up and leave without any word spoken.
I notice Jean still struggling, hitting his own head and making weird breathing noises. After a while, he stops. That eyes, that malicious eyes finally went away. Jean walks up to us with a nervous smile…
“Umm, I’m sorry for that. Must’ve been a horrible sight… on your first day too.” He apologized, this is the first time he talk without a playful manner.
The walk toward the city was awkward.
We are going to get our identification card and documents done at the town hall, and finally went on separate ways.
I guess even in this world, you still need that formal stuff.
Aleki, Kamal, and most of the others said they are going to the capital with Jean. There are more Terrans there, so its easier to get friends I guess. I personally want to get to know the locals more…
Venture to the unknown, meet people from different cultures, finding treasures, and fight monsters in dungeons. What an exciting life ahead of me, an adventurer’s life! Please don’t disappoint me o future!

Today I learned:
1 copper coin is the lowest currency in Acraria Kingdom, where I am now. You can buy normal food items like apples, bread etc for a price of 2 or 3 copper. If I remember correctly, 1 apple on Earth is about $1. So, that might be the easiest metric for me…
1 copper coin = 50 cents
Half silver coin = 10 copper coins / 5$
1 silver coin = 20 copper coins / $10
Half gold coin = 5 silver coins / $50
1 gold coin = 10 silver coins / $100
Ruby piece = $50 (much lighter than gold coins)
The half coins are just smaller version of coins
Bank checks can be use for large amount of credits so merchants don’t have to carry it on the road and risk being robbed.
Note: Ruby pieces that shatters under cold temperature are fake.
!learn basic ice magic!
Another note: Storing coins in my pocket or body is a bad idea, sneaky thieves can easily snatch them.
!Tie the coin purse to me or store them elsewhere!
That’s it for my first log, Just got this book from Kaleph, one of Jean’s guard. He said he can tell that I’m a diary person just by looking at me. What a creep. I’m thankful for it to be honest, I already forgot 70% of Jean speech…
Who am I talking to anyway?
