The lost Princess

Chapter 2: The lost Princess part 1

Two weeks have pasts since I arrived at the royal palace. During this time the royal family has treated me as one of their own except for Princess Vienna and Prince Oskar that still ignores me. Princess Vienna is doing her very best to show me how much she despises me and a part of me thinks that she hates me even more now that she understands how much I kept from Prince Oskar. Even though he promised me to help me find the rest of the legendary warriors, he has done nothing these past two weeks to help me in my search, I’m starting to believe that I will be forced to seek help elsewhere. The Queen has invited me to have afternoon tea with her in the royal garden. The handmaiden that has been assigned to me during my stay at the royal palace has laid out five different gowns for me to chose from. Brenda, my temporary handmaiden told me that the Queen had let the palace seamstress make this for me to use at every day occasions. Brenda also told me that the Queen asked for seven ball gowns, the Queen asked her to make the most beautiful one in my favorite color blue in the shade of the night sky. I ask Brenda to describe the five everyday gowns for me as I take a hot bath.

The first gown is a beautiful silver gown made in satin, it has a simple design and it seems like it is compatible for horse riding and other outdoors activities. The second gown is in a light gold shade, it is so long that it when you walk it is one m behind you, it has ecosite golden broidery all over it and it is so beautiful that it is fit for balls and important dinners. The third gown is light purple, it has long sleeves, a v-shaped neckline and the skirt is wide. The fourth gown is forest green, it has a brown discreet belt in which you can put smaller weapons in, this is a hunting gown and that is all that it is suited for. The fifth gown is blue, it is in the same shade as the morning sky, the skirt is made in white and on each side of the skirt there is the morning sky blue fabric. The last gown is the most beautiful everyday gown I have ever seen.

Brenda tells me that the Queen is aware of my dislike of pink so that she demanded that the seamstress not make a single gown in any shade of pink. This moves me to tears, the Queen cares a lot about me and she has taken the time to get to know me. In a lot of ways, she reminds me of my own mother and I am brought back to the last time I saw her before I left my Kingdom, defeated and in chains.

* Your grace, what’s the matter? I hope that you know that you can tell me everything and whatever you say will stay with me. These past few weeks has made me look at you as more than a mistress, I consider you a friend and I hope that you feel the same. Brenda says.

* Thank you, Brenda and you’re right, I consider you a friend too and I trust you. When you told me that the Queen knows that I do not like pink I started to think about how much the Queen reminds me of my mother and then I was brought back to when I last saw her. My mother and father were defeated by our enemies, they put them in chains. When I thought about your Queen everything that happened to my family came back to me. I say.

* Your grace, I know that you are hurting right now but I am certain that everything will end up as it is meant to. You will see your family again and you will save your kingdom. If you let me, I will do everything in my power to help you achieve this. Now, you must tell me which gown you want to wear so that I can bring it here. Brenda says.

* The one in the morning sky shade, please. After you have helped me get dressed, I would like your help with fixing my hair. I say-

* Of course, your grace. Brenda says.

The door shuts and I am finally left alone. I spend my time alone reflecting over the changes in my life and all that has happened since I left Fristad. Brenda takes a long time and I start to wonder what she is doing. Just as I am about to ask one of the guards outside to summon her she enters the room. Brenda lays the gown on the table and she helps me get out of the bathtub, she hands me a towel, place my hair in a quick bun and then she helps me put on the gown. Afterwards she brushes my hair with a silver brush and she forms my hair into an amazing hair do. It is full of different braids and despite being so full of braids it looks very simple. Brenda uses a simple diadem to make it complete, the diadem makes me look like a noble woman instead of a Princess. My tiara is hidden safely and locked in one of my drawers in the guest room that I sleep in.

When we are done, Brenda escorts me to the royal garden. We pass beautiful roses, lilies, orchids, enormous trees and a big, wide lake. In the end of the garden there is a secluded area that is used solely for the royal family. There are two thrones, chairs that are smaller than the thrones, a big round stone table and there is stone instead of grass covering the ground. From my view the Queen sits in the throne on the right side of the Kings throne. The Queen is dressed in an exquisite rose petal shade gown, it is covered in golden broidery and it flatters the Queen by making her even more beautiful. The Queen is wearing her gorgeous golden crown filled with rubies and diamonds big as grapes. The Queen is wearing her official golden ring that has the kingdoms crest and the symbol of the Queen, a small yet beautiful shape of a tiara. The Queen wears a necklace made in white gold and covered in diamonds. The Queen gives me a warm smile and gives me a gesture to sit down on the chair closest to her. Princess Mira and Princess Vienna are both present, there are also a lot of noble women present. The Queen let them stay but when she wants to speak to me alone everyone leaves immediately.

* My sweet, Princess Marianne, I have grown to care for you as one of my own children and it has come to my attention that your birthday is coming up soon, therefor I have decided to give a special gift. The problem is that I cannot wait for that long, so here you go. You may open it right away. The Queen says.

With careful hands, I open my big, round present. Inside the round box there is the most beautiful tiara I have ever seen. I look at the Queen in shock. Why would she give me a tiara? I know that I am Princess, but I am from a different country.

* This is a special tiara, it was made for Prince Oskar’s future wife and that person might be you one day. I know that you are not on speaking terms right now, but I know that he cares deeply for you and even if you are not his future wife, I know that this tiara has hidden magic inside you and some unknown force tells me that you might have the power to draw it out. The Queen says.

* Thank you, your majesty, but I cannot accept this gift, it is too much. I say.

* I understand that you are hesitant to accept this gift, but Prince Oskar asked me to give this to you and to tell you that he is sorry for not being able to forgive you sooner. The Queen says.

I study the box and I find a small note inside that confirms the Queen’s story. I cannot believe that he would do this for me.
