Planetfall

Streaks of light trailed the scout ship that was hurling towards the ground. It felt the planet was rushing towards them. They got closer and closer. The planet started losing its round shape. Overview became details. Half of their vision filled by endless ocean while the rest held a continent. Soon, with the computer's assistance, they spied a set of islands.

In total three bigger islands and dozens of smaller ones surrounding them. One of the islands painted with a red marker. Indicating it as the target for landing. In the middle of the Island stood a big white tree.

Fi zoomed in on the big white tree.

"It is frozen!" She exclaimed in surprise. Blue tried to say something, but it became gibberish while she was still pushed against the chair.

"You haven't seen something like this before?" Robin said with raised eyebrows. He didn't struggle like Blue. Fi simply shook her head.

"This is my first time in Eden Dream," Fi said with a gleam in her eyes. Blue stopped spouting gibberish hearing this. Robins next question cut off by another countdown.

"Prepare for landing." The announcement said, giving them a few short seconds to prepare for the countdown displaying a zero.

The ship came to a stop with a jolt. Throwing everyone against the straining straps.

Silence filled the cockpit. A groan from Blue cut the silence short. Everyone turned their gazes toward her. Blue's complexion was pale, but she threw a thumbs up showing she was alright.

Sawyer unstrapped himself and exited the cockpit with haste. A soft pshh sound was heard as the cargo door hydraulics were engaged. The three in the cockpit exchanged glances and shuffled they way out back.

In the cargo hold was an ample amount of food, water, quick setup shelters, tools and weapons. The cargo should be more than enough to last for the month.

Blue grabbed a railgun rifle in a trained manner. Robin grabbed a plasma pistol and a holster. Equipping both of them without trouble. He noticed another pistol was missing realizing Sawyer had grabbed one.

Fi was walking, out of the ship, without a care in the world. A feminine hand grabbed her shoulder. Fi turned questioningly.

"I can see you really have no experience here. Take these." Blue said without any ill intentions. Fi grabbed the holstered gun. Putting the holster on under the gaze of Blue wasn't an easy task.

It was evident Fi had no idea how to put it on. Blue grabbed one end and showed Fi how to work the mechanism. Fi thanked Blue with red cheeks.

Robin had walked down the ramp. The two women walked down the ramp after each other. Fi didn't enjoy the feeling of having the gun pushing against her hip on every step. She sighed and hoped that she would get used to it soon.

Outside the ship was a small clearing surrounded by tropical trees. Robin was fifty meters from the ship, looking at the surroundings, as the women approached he turned to look at them and smiled. Seeing Fi wince a little bit every step when the gun hit her bough a chuckle from him.

The air was heavy with odors. It smelled of fresh air and prospering life. Fi had to hold back tears as she hadn't been able to breathe or smell these smells in many years. This was her longing.

Dozen kilometers east stood the frozen tree. It towered over its brethren painting a breathtaking visage. The contrasting white three from the light brown and green palm-like trees was pleasing to look at.

"So you really haven't been in Eden Dream before huh?" Robin said and took another look at Fi. She could only nod, afraid of her voice breaking. When Fi didn't say anything, Robin didn't push the topic either.

He scanned the surrounding once more. Robin spotted the gleam of water through the foliage to the north.

"Let's head for the beach. We need to get familiar with our immediate surroundings before deciding where to set up camp." Robin said and started traversing towards the ocean.

"There is so much more for you to see dear. So much more." Blue said reassuringly as she wrapped FI under her arm.

Fi tensed up as Blue was so close to her. After a few moments, she loosened up and let herself be held. Blue smiled at Fi and only started leading them forward after Fi loosened up throughout.

Walking through the foliage Fi saw all manners of unknown creatures. Many of them scurried away in haste when noticing the two women. Some only looked at the trespassers with interest.

Wonder and awe-filled Fi. She had been missing so much the last six years. The sadness tried to rear its ugly head, but she forgot it when she saw another interesting creature.

It didn't take long for them to get through the foliage. Once the last leaves parted, a blue sea glistened. One of the smaller islands a few hundred meters offshore. The sand Fi stepped on was white and felt hot to the touch.

Seeing Robin in front of them looking into the water Fi rushed from Blue's arms. Fi ran with all the speed she could muster. Her poise was not that of an experienced runner, but of someone quite foreign to it.

It was a new experience for her to run on sand. She hadn't visited Pearl Lake a single time. Only videos and pictures colored her impression.

In a few short moments, she reached Robin and panted profusely. Robin didn't turn but was looking into the water instead. The three of them were in front of a lagoon.

It was completely separated from the sea with high banks of sand. Inside the lagoons crystal clear water, swam many different sorts of colorful fish.

Before Blue could reach the two, Fi was getting out of her jumpsuit. In her underwear, she splashed into the water spraying it everywhere.

Robin couldn't help but laugh.

"She really doesn't have any inhibitions does she?" Robin said as Blue arrived. Blue shook her head with a gentle smile on her face.

Fi dove under the water elated to be together with her most favorite element again. She could see so many new and interesting things in the lagoon.

Fi waved at a nearby school of fish. The fish scattered in all directions. She swam through some long red seaweeds to look at the multicolored corals.

When Fi was halfway out of the seaweeds, she felt something grab her leg.

She turned to look, only to see the red seaweed moving and grabbing her legs. It wrapped its long strands around her legs pinching them hard.

Fi couldn't help but scream underwater. It was painful. Excruciating, pure pain. She tugged at her legs, wriggled with all her power, but couldn't get free whatsoever.

Her air was running low and depleted faster the more she struggled. Panic started to set in as she realized she had to do something, soon or she would die.
