My tears hadn't really stopped yet but only came sparingly and I had to move.
I had gotten rather cold and my stomach decided to disrupt my mourning. I needed to find food and drink as well as a source of heat or at least a way to insulate my body.
Odd that. I would have thought dragons to be rather resistant to the cold.
The thing was, that I still couldn't see! This was getting rather frustrating.
Hrm. I know they usually say not to go into the light but that was the only real point of orientation I had. I'm pretty sure that I was looking at the sun.
I slowly crept towards that super bright point in front of me while always feeling forward with my hands claws paws. And good thing that I did because I soon found a ledge.
Not very encouraging.
To make sure that I couldn't actually make my way down, I followed the ledge first to the right and then to the left. There was no ramp or stairs. I was trapped.

Wait. I scrunched up my face in peevishness and crawled back towards my point of birth. I grabbed a part of my old shell, made my way back to the supposed cliff, and then threw it over the edge.
The shard landed with a CLACK pretty much immediately. My face scrunched up further.
I was nearly ready to climb down when I thought of something. What if that's just a small overhang?
Fetching another couple shards I threw them from different points and to different distances and was rewarded when one of them began to slide down what I assumed to be a ramp and stopped with the rustle of grass.
Once again readying myself for a short descent I turned my backside to the edge and shimmied backward slowly while trying to find purchase on the cliffside with my claws. Suffice to say I didn't find any.
Since my tailbone was a lot more padded and robust now I walked away from the slight fall without much pain.
I searched for the ramp and slowly and carefully made my way down. I did definitely not slip and flip to tumble the last few paces. No.
Voluntarily lazing on my back in the grass, I thought about, what to do next.
Let's be honest here. Dragon or not, I was a newborn. I had no impenetrable hide or fire breath. Not to mention, I was blind!
~Ugh~
I rolled onto my empty belly and stood up. I felt the grass under my claws and listened.
I think I hear trees? But rather far off. Oh! The bubbling sound of a creek reached my ears and it was thusly decided that I would go there.
