While experimenting, her father received some replies on the reform from his closest friends whom he had sent the first hand-written copies to. Most of them agreed that this reform would be quite beneficial and gave their feedback on some points. But even so most of them warned him from actually going public with it since the most of the scholars from the capital would reject it.

This made her father hesitate if he should really go forward with it. But under the pestering of her daughter, he finally decided to do it. After implementing the feedback of his fellow scholars, they finally went forward with a 1000 print edition. One must know that such a thing was unprecedented, as books would usually only attain such a number after having circled around for a few years being copied by the disciples of some scholars that had got their hands on it.

Zona also came up with an idea that she hoped would be able to spread the usage further. She asked her father to insert a blank first page only containing the following text:

“What more noble task for a scholar is there than spreading knowledge?

In what way can this be achieved better than by spreading literacy?

The intent of this book is to make this task easier.”

These words were quite provoking, with them she was targeting younger scholars still learning to adapt it to make their life better, but also the group of scholars that were teachers and also those who believed in spreading knowledge being an important task of the scholars.

As they started sending out copies to all the corners of the kingdom and to the capital, the reaction was huge, way more extreme than expected. It created a huge commotion in scholarly circles, who broke out into huge fights. There were two reasons for this the first was the shock about how many copies had appeared out of thin air, the second was the content, especially the first page. It literally split the nation into two.

The first biggest group was made up by a big group of scholars mostly from the capital, they were scared that this reform if adapted would put their position in jeopardy. This group was made up mostly by older scholars whose whole livelihood was based on being the literate ones and the prestige that went with it, mostly working for the nobles and under the imperial government.

The second group was made up by those outside of the capital and young scholars of the city, who were not as pretentious as the people of the first group and whose life was made a lot easier by implementing the reform. Most of them started using this new way of writing as soon as they had read the book. This group was also the people that Zona intended to touch with her words and it seemed to have worked. Some of these scholars especially outside of the capital started to teach people reading in their free time. The people were first cautious about it, but then they started to send their children to these classes in the hope that they could become scholars in the hope of a better future. These scholars rapidly won the respect of their communities and were treated more respectfully and in a way franker way than they ever had been before.

There actually was two more smaller groups, that Zona had not expected, one was a group of old foxes who recognized what this meant for the future. These people were the very old, those who were thinking about the legacies they would leave behind after they left this world. They were respected elders and were the ones who had the biggest positive impact on the spreading of the reform. They immediately started working on their biggest works, editing them based on this reform. At the same time they ordered their disciples to start teaching the masses as a compulsory work. They also contacted their former students telling them to use this new way of writing from now on. Some of the most cunning ones, noticed that there was a new way of reproducing writings, and contacted Zonas father, requesting him to print copies of their greatest works.

These old foxes, were like catalysers, with their backing the reform spread like a wildfire. They spent most of the money they had accumulated over the years to get their works replicated, filling the pockets of Zonas family and making the further printing of more copies viable, and what was even more important to Zona into spreading literacy to the masses. With the leftover money Zona encourage her father to open the first public school in the nation which in the future would become the biggest academy of the continent but that is a story to be told later.

The last group stayed invisible and was one that Zona had not put in her eyes yet since she did not know enough of this world yet, and because of these kind of people had long-lost influence in the society in which she had grown up in her past life. This group had a huge influence, they were discontent with this new evolvement especially with the spreading of literacy in the common people which might largely affect their influence in the future. These people would create a lot of trouble for Zona and her plans, but they would not act on such a trifling matter.

Within a short year, the use of the reform was wide spread and the literacy rate had gone up to heights that no one would have though possible. The first group had no choice and bow down reluctantly to this evolvement, forced to start following the new ways or else they would be left behind.

The father and daughter duo had not expected such a rapid result. Her father had to open a special printing workshop to follow up with the demand. As for Zona, she could only cheer in her heart this advanced her plans by a few years and would make them a lot easier to execute than she had originally thought.
