[Act 2] Chapter 46: Against all odds. A Realm ignored.

A trigger within myself.

An organic mental flip.

One that felt one way, then another.

As if changing states were that easy.

When you transcend plateaus you are left forgetting how the struggle once weighed heavy on your shoulders.

Once you clear the mountains, the plains become all you know.

A warm hum resonated within my core. The feeling of a massive progression, one that came teetering at the edge.

At life's edge we either fall or we rise to the occasion.

This was something I had learned through losses that I wish I could've avoided.

But the meek cannot complain.

If we do, we become destroyed by ourselves for ourselves.

Here, kneeling in an entrapment of crowd control web, I looked up and past the man who was to be my executioner. Past beyond my guild, the ones who pulled me out of my mental darkness.

Even further past the rubble and debris of the battlefield, far past the realm itself.

I searched for myself in the world.

A low answer hung in the wisps of the cosmere. Like a ribbon of light amongst a galaxy of darkness it floated from nothing towards me, granting everything.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

A name came to mind.

Ronald Descartes.

The Prince of Magic who should have lived.

After that failure I nearly broke.

Becoming a bandit who eventually wanted more for his band.

The system chimed in.

It whispered of powers unknown within my ears like a fairy that guides us along foreign waters.

Like a mischievous sprite that goes against purely out of a childlike curiosity.

It wishes to see what happens when you tamper with the realm. What we men can do when equipped with powers beyond us.

The system only wishes for us to grow, to unlock more, to be more.

Blade of the Soul has been upgraded

Transcended Blade of The Soul has been unlocked.

As if a chain and bolt had dropped from a mind clouded with doubt. I felt light and free.

A heavy heart is man's worst enemy. I was my worst enemy.

Hovering over the system details of the skills revealed something odd.

A fragmented display, one that looked like shattered glass, that pulsed with a dark energy, as if I shouldn't have this skill in my possession.

As if the realm itself was attempting to stop my Progression.

Odd, I thought, but not for long for he continued his walk towards my end.

He was directly before meI.

I was his shadow.

He was the man in light.

Swabbed in darkness I hummed from the inner reaches of my soul.

Producing my transcended blade of the soul.

It did not sparkle or glitter with a power that radiated strength and force.

Most power in this world was egocentric and ostentatiously proud.

It wanted the world to know it could bring death and chaos.

This wasn't that.

It was quiet and mute.

It produced no force.

It was still and forced everything around it to be the same.

It forced everything and everyone to slow down and breathe.

Then, I swung.

Without force, without hurry, without rage.

I simply swung.

And the path ahead revealed itself.

A path forged by a quiet power from within.
