Chapter 2: The System

The soft, fading rays of the afternoon sun filtered through the cracks in the window, illuminating the room with a gentle warmth. The small space was simple, furnished with wooden furniture and stone walls that reflected the modest life of the village. Yet, there was something more profound hidden behind the stillness of the room. In the center, lying on a comfortable bed covered by a rough cotton blanket, was a baby whose expression was far from typical for his age. His large eyes stared blankly, as if lost in a sea of deep thoughts.

Daniel was now trapped in the body of a newborn in a strange world. It had been more than two months since he first opened his eyes here, and during that time, his mind had been constantly wrestling with this new reality. Though his body was small and fragile, his soul still belonged to a 28-year-old man from Earth—more specifically, from modern Earth, a world vastly different from this one.

As he gazed at the ceiling with vacant eyes, his thoughts replayed the events of the past two months. No skyscrapers, no internet, and no signs of the modern life he once knew. Based on Daniel's observations, this world resembled the medieval era. Wooden and stone buildings, unpaved roads, and people living in ways very similar to ancient European civilizations. However, after almost three months, Daniel was almost certain: this was not Earth.

Even though the lifestyle of the people here reminded him of medieval Europe, Daniel knew that even the most remote villages on modern Earth had access to basic technology like electricity or modern tools, which would be evident even in the farthest corners. But here? There were no electric lights, no sounds of machines—only campfires and strange glowing crystals that illuminated his room at night, with tools entirely handmade. This wasn’t just a remote part of Earth. This was a completely new world.

Yet, it wasn't only the civilization that made Daniel feel out of place. His new parents, a young couple seemingly in their early twenties, added another layer of discomfort. He, a 28-year-old man, was now being treated like a baby. Imagine, an adult man used to making his own decisions, now had to submit to being bathed, carried, and nursed by a woman clearly younger than him. What an extreme contrast! Every day, he had to face the bizarre experience of being breastfed by his new mother, which—though he tried to adjust—still stirred strange feelings in his heart. While he could now tolerate it, the oddity of the situation could never be fully ignored. His body may have been that of a baby, but his mind remained that of a grown man.

His mother, a woman with curly blonde hair and emerald green eyes, possessed a beauty far above the average women Daniel had encountered in his previous life. On the other hand, his new father seemed to work all day. The only time Daniel saw him was at night, and even then, only briefly. His father's short yet dedicated presence left Daniel in awe. A real man, he thought, though the words were only spoken in his heart. Daniel wasn’t sure what his father did for a living, but he respected his dedication.

*Creak*

Daniel’s reverie was interrupted by the creak of the old wooden door, revealing the graceful figure of his mother. She wore simple clothing, typical of a village housewife, yet remained captivating with her natural beauty. Her lips curled into a soft smile, and though Daniel didn’t understand the words she spoke, her tone was enough to convey her intent.

"Sah-narh, veran a lum?" His mother’s voice was melodious, though to Daniel, it was just a string of unfamiliar and meaningless words. However, from her gaze and the gentle tone, he could guess it was time to eat.

His mother approached, and Daniel could smell the distinct, soothing scent of her—a mother’s scent. His small body was lifted gently, and though his mind still struggled to comprehend everything, his baby instincts took over. His tiny lips began to nurse, and slowly, his consciousness melted into the warmth that flowed through his little body. It didn’t take long before exhaustion overcame him, and Daniel drifted peacefully to sleep in his mother’s arms.

That night, the pale moonlight streamed through the cracks in the window, casting a mysterious glow over the small room. A cool night breeze rustled the thin curtains. The silence of the night was broken only by the soft breathing of two figures, sleeping in sync on the bed.

Daniel awoke, his vision blurry from the lingering drowsiness. But something was different. His body felt strange, as though filled with an unfamiliar energy. And he could feel it—something was off. He felt refreshed, as if he had just awoken from a long sleep that had restored all his strength. He glanced at his mother, who was still sound asleep beside him. He tried to make a sound to wake her, but his efforts were in vain. Turning his gaze to the other side, he caught the eyes of his father, who seemed to have been stirred by the tiny noise he made.

“Arah-ten, ver nuh?” His father’s deep voice spoke in a foreign tongue. The words were unclear to Daniel, but from the curious expression on his father’s face, Daniel guessed that he was asking what had happened.

Daniel could only stare, unsure of how to respond. His father’s mouth moved, and the sounds that came out were alien. Yet Daniel was certain that the man sensed something strange about his body. Their eyes met, and in that moment, Daniel felt a strong urge to look up—toward the ceiling of the room.

Suddenly, a transparent blue panel appeared before him.

Daniel felt a strange sensation spreading through his body—a vibration that traveled from his toes to his head. His body temperature fluctuated between cold and warm, and an invisible energy seemed to flow freely through his small form. His body twitched, and not long after, the sensation faded, replaced by a feeling of rejuvenation. However, with it came a wave of overwhelming drowsiness.

With the remnants of his willpower, Daniel—or perhaps now Arslan—tried to stay conscious a little longer. His eyes focused on the blue panel still hovering in front of him, particularly on one word that caught his attention: Auctiva.

That word wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to him. However, many questions flooded his mind. How could that word be here? And what did it mean for him now? Those questions swirled in his head, but soon after, Arslan’s consciousness succumbed to the irresistible pull of sleep.

Meanwhile, Arslan’s father could only squint, staring at his little son with a myriad of unspoken questions.
