Pinching with his fingers, Kirin lifted a pink figurine off a board to advance it forward. "Bubble Bunnette marches on, in the face of the scaly demonic beast! She raises her staff, chanting! And hastily comes a white light from the heavens."
"Very brave, very brave!" Alia nodded proudly. "Roll up then! We'll see if the spell succeeds."
Kirin picked up dice, shook them in her hand, and dropped. "Here we go...!"
Three cubes spun on the wooden board. As they settled, the scores on top totaled five.
"What?!"
"Muahaha!" Alia grinned behind cards she had in her hands. "A failure, you are, Bunnette!"
Kirin was in a kneeling position and his knees had already locked together, but the quick insult to his character obliged him to squeeze his thighs even tighter.
From the closet room, Faolan leaned in to see what was going on. "I'm done." He was rubbing his wet hair with a white towel, then, having dried it enough, let the towel rest on both sides of his shoulders, uncaring about the moisture seeping into his shirt.
It was weird seeing him like that.
So casual and no armor nor suit on. Just a red tee and soft shorts hiding just half of knees.
He crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame, giving Kirin a smile as his green eyes brightly gazed.
"I've reheated Alia's chickens." Onyx kicked the dorm room's door close, balancing a tower of wooden boxes in his arms. He headed straight for the table and set them down.
"Ooh! Thank you!" Alia nodded excitedly. "Sorry I couldn't bring any other food. The chicken place was the only one I could stop by at."
Kirin cocked his head to a side. "We're lucky you even came with food at all. Why did you even decide to go here?"
"Well, since it rained, The Hive got a little bit too dewy. Thought it would be safer to join you guys here! Didn't think Faolan would be here too though. Luckily, we have room." She twisted to see the bed behind her. "I'm excited! We've never really had a sleepover even before you joined the guild, Kirin. There are so many things we can do for fun!"
Faolan walked over, knelt beside Kirin, and extended his neck flexing a strong vein as he did, to peep at a sheet of paper in one of Kirin's hands. "Like what you're playing now?"
"It's Prisons and Pride. A tabletop roleplaying game!" Kirin grinned.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"But you're playing on the floor?" Faolan chuckled.
"Didn't think they were smart enough to consider that we're using the table for eating?" Onyx began unstacking the boxes onto the table. "Yeah, me neither."
Faolan simply smirked and shook his head. "What are you playing as, Kirin?"
The trap closed his eyes, bowing as if he had just fallen asleep. As he awoke again, a bright light shone from his irises. "I'm playing Bubble Bunnette, a bubbly mage with jiggly jugs perked up by a tight, light blue leather tunic barely held together by strings locking them at the front. She has bushy, light bronze hair flowing as far down as her knees. Her eyes are blue as the ocean and her lips rosy. With light magic and unmatched beauty, she can dazzle any enemy she faces in the battlefield!"
Onyx paused, about to set down the last box.
Alia was nodding very proudly at Kirin's monologue.
"What do you think about my character? You wanna play with us? I can help you make your character too!"
"Hmm." Faolan changed position to sit on his behind, leaning backwards whilst supporting himself with his arms, as he kept one leg and the other's foot flat on the floor. "Not sure what I should be. There's no way mine could be of match to yours. Your character sounds very awesome. She's almost like you except for the big boobs."
Imaginary glass shattered as it crashed behind Kirin.
"Any suggestions?"
Pursing his lips shut, Kirin sulked, hugging his knees to his chest. "I'm not helping you."
"Wait, what's the matter?"
Alia nibbled on her knuckles. "Now that you mention it... Kirin is very flat, isn't she?"
Another set of glass cracked and shot a sound so sharp that it deafened Kirin.
Onyx had been staring intently for while. When he finally seemed to recollect himself, he put down the final box, and mumbled, "I didn't think you were also... that... into roleplaying."
Kirin hid his face and sobbed into his thighs.
"Do you want props? I have staffs and fake potions in my cabinet." The man walked over to the doorway into the closet room.
And just like that, Kirin's mood switched back to jolly. "No way! You do roleplay too?"
"I--" Onyx flinched. He cleared his throat. "Not this kind, usually."
Faolan, Alia, and Kirin exchanged glances.
"A different tabletop game?" Alia suggested.
"Probably." Kirin hummed, and then clapped twice. "Anyway! Let's make you guys your characters! Faolan, what do you wanna be?"
"Let's see..." The Dragonlaird raised his chin, ruminating by looking at the ceiling. "I've always wanted to be normal. Do you reckon it would be any fun if I played a weak sort of character?"
"Sounds like a challenge!" Alia picked up cards from a pile she had nearby. "As gamemaster, I won't go easy on you no matter how weak you are."
"Fine by me!"
"Here!" She handed seven cards over. "These are low level spells and entry level actions. You can see the requirements indicated for each. When you roll the dice, the total should equal or exceed the requirement. Otherwise, your action won't be successful!"
Kirin's eyes sparkled. "This is so exciting."
"Great! These spells look like they could be casted by agualla riders back in Cernunnos. I guess I'll be playing one."
Onyx came back and tossed dull swords, light wooden sticks, and corked bottles onto a bed. "Let's come back to that in a bit. There's no way I'm going back downstairs to reheat your food again."
"Sure! We can eat while we come up with your character." Kirin pulled himself up, letting the shirt he had borrowed from Onyx loosen up and drape to hide his undergarment.
Faolan coughed and looked away.
"I don't need to come up with one. I already have an idea."
"Ooh! What do you want to be?"
Onyx bent over to pull a stool from under the table. Standing straight back, he turned to face Kirin, and gazed for a good moment, before answering, "A god."
