The park master.
chapter 4 shopping proofread

chapter 4 shopping proofread

One hour later I arrived at the nearest town gate. Before entering, I naturally took stock of how many gold coins were in my possession. I had worked hard to earn these coins in my parent’s flying park.

Flying vehicles/objects are not allowed to directly land in town If they were my parents and I would never walk or take the horse carriage to town again, we would fly their on their flying park every time. I counted about 2 platinum coins and 520 gold coins. Even without using the gift cards that I had just received as presents, I had more than enough funds to freely shop in town.

I tried to enter the town after counting my coins but I was blocked by the guards. They looked as though they wanted something from me.

"Young man, where are you from and what is your reason for entering town?" one of the guards gruffly said.

"Hello sir. My name is Jacob I recently came into the ownership of parcel of land about one hour walking distance from this town and I would like to do some shopping in town," answered Jacob, warily.

"May I ask what you are going to buy?" asked the guard.

"I am going to buy stuff for my home and some supplies for my park grounds sir," answered Jacob.

"Are you a park master?" asked the guard.

"Yes sir. is something wrong?"  asked Jacob.

"No, there is nothing wrong. It t is just that we were tasked to bring you to the mayor,"  said the guard.

"Would you follow us please young man?" asked another guard.

"Yes sir. I will follow you to the mayor," answered Jacob.

"Okay. Let's go," said the guard.

After the conversation, I was lead to the mayor's home.We arrived there in just a few minutes and one of  the guards briskly knocked on the door.

Knock. Knock.

“Who is it?” asked a melodious voice.

"I am Henry of the city guard, sir! I have brought the park master," said the guard.

The door slowly opened, revealing a dignified old man.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Hello, young man. I am Carl, the mayor of this fine town. You must be the park master that recently bought that property outside of the city," said mayor Carl.

"My name is Jacob, sir. I am indeed that park master," Jacob replied.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you Jacob. You can just  call me Carl. Please, come in," said Carl, with an elegant wave of his hand.

"The pleasure is all mine Carl," said Jacob, with a nod.

We entered Carl’s home and the guards turned around and went back to the gate without speaking another word. We sat down and the mayor fetched us some refreshments. After a small bit of idle conversation, the mayor got to the point of his summoning of my presence.

"I called you down here to make you an offer. My town would like to offer you some supplies to grow your park in exchange for you beautifying the property. If you can change the land surrounding the town for the better it would benefit us both. What do you say, will you accept my offer?" said Carl.

"Thanks for the offer Carl. I will gladly accept it, but first I must go shopping," said Jacob.

"No problem. You can pick the supplies up at this place when you are done shopping," said Carl, with a beaming smile.

"Alright then, please excuse me, i will see you later," said Jacob.

I walked out of the house and walked over to the shopping district. The first shop that I entered was an alchemy shop. When I entered the alchemy shop I saw a young woman at the counter. The woman was a beautiful elf, with gentle features. I walked up to the counter with a confident smile and said. "Hello there! I am Jacob, fair elven lady. What would fair maiden's name be?"

"Hi Jacob. I am Selphie. May I ask why you are here?"  Selphie professionally replied, completely unperturbed with my attempted flirting.

"*Cough* I came to buy mana stones and mana potions," said Jacob, with an embarrassed expression.

"Mana potions are 1 silver coin a bottle. Mana stones are 1 gold coin a piece," Said Selphie.

"I would like to buy 100  mana potions and 300 mana stones. Can I pay with this  gift card?" asked Jacob, as he thrust a gift card forward.

"Yes you can. That would be 301 gold coins please,"  answered Selphie, after briefly glancing at the gift card.

I gave her the gift card and she said she would be back with the items in a bit. After a few minutes, she returned  with a backpack full of the items. We  said our goodbyes and I left. After the alchemy shop , I went to a carpentry shop  and bought 300 gold coins worth of furniture and wood. Afterward, I went to a pet shop. When I entered, there was a big, muscle-bound man behind the counter. I walked up to the counter and asked:

"Hello sir. May I trouble you to buy some rabbits and any other small animals that you may have in stock?"

"Yes. You  may buy them," grunted  the big, muscle-bound man.

"And do you know where the park shop is in this town?" asked Jacob.

"This town does not yet have a park shop. One will be built in a month ," said the big, muscle-bound man.

"Thanks for the help," said Jacob, with a bow.

After the conversation, I bought animals worth 399 gold coins in total. They will be brought to my park tomorrow.

Then I walked to Carl's house to pick up the stuff they gave me and journeyed home.
