Another two weeks have passed since we left the slaves with Emelia to take care of.
I traveled alongside Asellus out of the forest, towards demon lands. As she looks almost like a human, her identity as a Mystic isn't exposed while she was in human lands. During the day, we walked towards the general direction towards Mystic lands. In the evening, we stopped to set up camp and did some training.
As of now, even with a successful sneak attack, Asellus would probably still lose to Vergil. Having personally seen Vergil's might in battles last time, I daresay that even if we had a one-on-one, with the current me, I might not be able to win. Therefore Asellus had no chance.
The most I can do for her is to train her basics, sharpening her movements, and constantly spar with her to increase her real-life battle experiences.
Hmm...I daresay that at our current pace, we'll reach Vergil's castle within a month or so. By then, he should have realized that Asellus is missing and preparing to find her.
We only have one month's period of time to train her up...this is going to be an uphill task.
If only we can find a prey suitable for her to synchronize with; that would give her a boost in abilities that might just be enough to land a good strike on Vergil.
I did try to let Asellus defeat some of the monsters that we could find. However, none of them synchronized with her. Of course, if it were that easy, Mystics would have long ago became the strongest clan.
Guess this is going to be a really tough task...
Today, we got lucky and walked to a nearby small town as the sun was beginning to set. We rented a room in an inn, and went out for some training first before
"Asellus, what were you doing before you were turned Mystic by Vergil?" (Gideon)
I was curious. After all, she is rather strong, even for a Mystic with a single synchronization. After just two weeks of training, she moves visibly faster and reacts quicker, as well as her attacks was getting sharper. Her attacks were strong at the start, so those improvements made her even more of a threat. That growth rate certainly is rather unusual...not that I'm one to talk.
"Hmm...nothing, really. I am an orphan, and worked in the fields daily, tending to crops when all of a sudden, a carriage went by the road, and stopped. The carriage door opened and Vergil came running over, without any regards for the mud and water. He held onto my hands and asked me to be his bride." (Asellus)
"That...was sudden." (Gideon)
"Know what, yeah, now that I think about it. At that time, a guy of his looks, asking a countryside girl like me to marry him, I was stunned, in a...happy way. My mind probably wasn't thinking straight then, but I went head-over-heels for him and decided to go along with him."
That...womanizing cheater. One day he'll die at the hands of a female for sure.
"After that...stuff that I do not wish to vocal happened, and I found myself a Mystic. Needless to sad, I was pretty shocked then, but at least life was better then, so I didn't complain much even though I wasn't that happy." (Asellus)
"I...I see. Alright, did you had any sorts of training then?" (Gideon)
"Hmm...yeah, for awhile. One of his consorts helped me with training." (Asellus)
"How did it go?"
"Well...it was going great but after a few days, when I am getting the hang of it, she suddenly stopped.the training altogether."
"Hmm...weird."
"Yeah, Mystics sure are a weird bunch, aren't they?"
"Don't forget, you're one too."
"Ah."
"Don't "Ah." me! Sheesh..."
We went back to the inn just before the sun fully sets, and went to rest after washing ourselves clean. Being very tired everyday from non-stop walking and training, I almost immediately went to sleep after taking a good bath.
The night descends, and I woke up in a start. Asellus was awake and looking extremely alert, and turning her head around constantly, as though looking out for someone, or something. Howling sound can be heard from a far distance, along with slight trembling of the ground.
(Master! Danger's approaching! A lot of presences are approaching from the direction of the Demon lands!)
Tsk...that can't be a good sign. And if I can still recognize that sound, it must be them...
"Asellus, let's get out of here first!" (Gideon)
"Too late...I'm pretty sure they already noticed us, with our presence being so strong. Darn it...we were careless, and didn't mask ourselves probably. We shouldn't have trained too much near demon lands after all." (Asellus)
"Too late for that...those presences, and that howl...it's the Werewolves Clan, isn't it?" (Gideon)
"Hmm, you are quite knowledgeable, aren't you?" (Asellus)
"For now, we should go out and see what they want."
"Agreed. As much as possible, I would like to keep this town away from any harm." (Asellus)
The both of us quickly left the inn, and rushed out to the outskirts of town. There, we can see the advancing werewolves coming closer towards us. There were probably...a hundred? Maybe even more. Right in the middle of the whole group, there's one with an extremely strong presence, one that I recognize very well. One that I have fought with, and together, previously while I was still part of the Overlord's army.
"W...Wourein. Damn it, this won't end well." (Gideon)
"You even know the name of the Werewolves Clan leader? Who are you really...?" (Asellus)
"If we make it out of this alive, I wouldn't mind telling you some stuff." (Gideon)
This is quite the situation. After all, werewolves get their strength from the moon, and though not a full moon today, their strengths are still considerable. However, with Asellus's help, perhaps we can get through this alive.
After a short while, the werewolves surrounded the both of us, and the biggest of them all walked towards us. It is him...it's Wourein, I'll never forget that scar of his left eye that I left.
"So...you two are the presence we felt from before, when we were patrolling the nearby area. Such strong humans, are you two perhaps...[Heroes]?" (Wourein)
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"Such a wild claim. Don't you know who this is? She's the fourth consort of the Mystic Leader, Vergil! All of you, how dare you surround her in such a threatening manner!" (Gideon)
"Oh, the consort of Vergil, eh? Well then, what is a consort doing so far away from Mystic lands?"
"Whatever Asellus-sama is doing, I believe, is none of your concern. Please step aside and let us be on our way." (Gideon)
"...I think not. Even if what you say is true, nothing is going to stop me, Wourein, from doing as I please!"
That guy...he's the same as ever. Doing what he wants, whenever he wants. That's why I had to stop him once from nearly killing one of my ogres from some stupid reason, giving him that scar in the process. Though, looks like there's no escape from a fight tonight.
I stepped in front of Asellus, towards Wourein. With a single thought command to Eva, a silver axe materialized, as I held it with my hand.
"Hey Wourein...do you want another scar on the other eye, or are you going to move away in peace?" (Gideon)
I released killing intent, and the encirclement of werewolves became larger, as those in front moved back from my killing intent. Wourein however, stood his ground and stared with amusement.
"Wahaha! For a kid, you sure know how to talk big! Hardly anyone has dared mention about this scar, and all those you did died in my arms! Your blood shall cleanse that insult you spat upon me!" (Wourein)
He gave a loud howl, as the encirclement of werewolves howled as well.
I turned my head slightly to Asellus, and whispered to her.
"Hey, take this guy for a few seconds, I'll get rid of the rest in those moments."
"What, me? But..."
"Don't worry, if it's for awhile, your burst strength is more than capable of stalling him."
"Alright...if you say so. Why am I fighting one of the [Six Pillars] here anyway..?"
"When I say now, jump away as high and you can, alright?"
I wanted to test this skill out on goblins previously...to think that I'm now trying it out on werewolves instead. That's too much of a difference in level, isn't it?
"The strength of wolves is the pack; the strength of the pack is the wolves!" (Wourein)
He rushed towards me, as some of the werewolves rushed towards us at the same time. Asellus jumped out, and clashed with Wourein with [Tiger Rampage], whereas Wourein who lost the initiative, started blocking and pushing aside the punches and lost the chance to retaliate.
As expected of Asellus...her strength is great enough to temporarily stall a [Six Pillar]. If I was the one on the receiving end of such a fierce flurry of punches, even I wouldn't be able to counter-attack for the first time I see it.
As the werewolves came too near for comfort, I jumped upwards, high up.
Eva, increase the size of the axe!
(What? But, the mass will increase as well! It would get too heavy to swing comfortably!)
It's alright, just do it!
(Hmm...alright, if you know what you're doing.)
The axe grew three times it's normal size, as I held it above my head. Perfect, with the additional weight and gravity pull, I think it should be strong enough to blow away most of them werewolves!
"Now!" (Gideon)
Asellus crouched down and jumped upwards, as the ground approaches for me. I swung the axe downwards with brute strength and assist from [Burst Stream]. I'm going to launch an attack that's thought only doable by a whole group of Ogres!
"Modified technique: [Encompassing Devastating Earth Wave]!" (Gideon)
The instant the axe hit the ground, a shockwave of earth and rubble and stone erupted from the epicenter and spread outwards, nearly instantly clearing a field of thirty meters around me, severely injuring or killing most of the werewolves surrounding us. Even though a larger portion of the impact went towards Wourein, where I pointed the axe towards, he managed to block the attack in time, and didn't take much damage from that attack. Most of the survivors are also those who were behind Wourein.
As for me, I flew upwards from the impact, being too light to withstand the force, and Asellus caught me as she fell towards the ground. The both of us landed safely after.
That was a really strong attack, if I dare say so myself. Not bad, even for me!
[Master, you idiot. If you wanted to do that, shouldn't you ask me to change into a club, or a pointed hammer?]
Oh right. That would work well.
[...you are an idiot, Master.]
Hey! At least it did extra damage to Wourein, and it managed to wipe out most of the werewolves.
"That attack...and [Burst Stream]! I know it when I see it! You...you're the human Del'thrush talked about...Buvul!" (Wourein)
"Buvul? You mean...the previous Ogre clan leader, one of the [Six Pillars], Buvul?" (Asellus)
"You know quite a lot, don't you?" (Gideon)
"Well...I was blooded for over 2 years already. I know quite a bit of history, seeing that I have nothing much to do other than training and reading up on history." (Asellus)
"Ahh...no wonder. Yes, I am Buvul. Or at least, I used to be. Now, my name is Gideon."
"Wahaha! I didn't think I'll see you here, the one who gave me this scar! To think you've fallen this low, being a human!"
He clutched his scar, with a murderous look on his face.
"This must be fate. There is no fighting between members of the [Six Pillars], but now that you're a mere human, I can slaughter you as I please!" (Wourein)
"Give it up, Wourein. I've reduced your fighting force to nearly single digits, and you are injured. Retreat, and live to fight another day. If not- WOAH!" (Gideon)
Wourein rushed forward and slashed with his claws. Even with me lunging backwards and my toughness, I still received a small cut near my chest.
"Fool! There is no retreat for the [SIx Pillars]! We shall fight with honor, and cleanse the humiliation of defeat with the blood of our fallen enemies! As long as I still breath, I shall take you down, even if it cost me my life!" (Wourein)
