Chapter One: The First Experience

Chapter One: The First Experience

I was sitting on a cold hard floor. My eyes were closed, and I was holding my face in my hands because I felt so groggy. I got up and when I opened my eyes I was blown away by disbelief.

I was expecting to be on the vinyl wood floor of my kitchen after maybe falling asleep there somehow. But instead, I was on a smooth stone floor and the room I was in was a long rectangle. The walls looked like a weird combination of stone blocks and dirt. There wasn't modern electric lighting either; instead, there were torches along the wall in front of me. I was looking at the longer side of the wall maybe about ten feet away from me. I groggily got up, planning to scan my surroundings just to see what was happening.

It was then that I heard it. The gasp of ragged breathing was almost like someone was just holding their breath and giving up. I looked to my right and down on the floor was a girl. She was a small thing; she was sprawled out holding herself up with her hands and she was shaking hard. She wore a brown sack-like cloak, and I could see some white ruffles around her neck. Her face was that of a very young girl, maybe eleven years old? She had brown hair with widened blue eyes, and she was looking at me like I was a monster.

I started towards her, but she started shaking her head and scooted away. She tried saying something, but I guess she was so scared nothing came out. Then she pointed behind me. So of course, I obliged and turned around to be struck in awe.

I was greeted by two men holding these wicked-looking knives. They were literally like daggers from the movies. But the guys themselves had some dark brown-maroon-colored robes with their hoods down. And these guys looked like crackheads: they both had dirty blonde hair, both were super skinny with hallow faces, and their gaping mouths were missing teeth. But they weren't what even had me in awe.

There were two large dogs on either side of the men. The dogs looked like gray huskies. But the issue is that they were low to the ground almost like they were about to pounce.

I decided to try to say something, "What seems to be going on here?" My voice yet again had me freeze in awe. It was crackly and significantly deeper than my normal mid to high-pitched voice. The men reared back like I was a demon or something and grasped their daggers so tight I could see the whites of their knuckles with my atrocious eyesight.

Behind me, I heard the softest voice I think I had ever heard. "Please help me... please." It was a simple phrase, but it got my mind back on track and made things a lot easier to process. These people understand me. One little girl literally shivering in fear. Two men with daggers and some big dogs. With my mental prowess, I should have been able to process this immediately but my dumbstruck self needed a whole two minutes to process this from when I first felt the floor.

"Well buckaroos, it seems we have a very violent problem on our hands. And I don't exactly fancy myself a hero, but it looks to me like two grown-ass men are trying to hurt a precious little girl." I looked at their eyes. My voice was the same as a minute ago and it seemed to make them take a few steps back.

Behind the two men, I could see a classic medieval rounded wooden door probably about thirty feet away. Meanwhile, behind the girl, I saw a wall maybe about two football fields away.

Abruptly one of the men made a motion with their index finger and pointed at the ground. Immediately the two dogs charged at me, finally growling and snarling. I immediately panicked, but I proceeded to immediately calm myself. It wasn't a conscious thing; I was just calm out of nowhere.

But that made things easier and quickly I charged at the dogs. I didn't have a weapon but what other choice did I have? Thankfully I've had to kill a pit bull before with my bare hands. Not a pleasant experience but it came in handy, I guess? The issue is that there were two dogs.

Ok, I got a game plan. I'll do an uppercut motion to grab the first one by the throat and I'll sidekick the other one hard so I can strangle the first one or hopefully crush its throat. Then they were upon me. I grabbed the first one by the throat just as planned. Then I kicked the other one and it went flying. I didn't pay attention to it though and went straight to squeezing the dog's throat. After maybe half a second it just went poof. Just gone. All that was left was some rising smoke, like smoke from a scented candle my mom would put in the kitchen.

Looking up, one of the meth heads was hunched over coughing up blood that was like a waterfall out of his hand. So much blood it was almost like he was vomiting but he wasn't, he was simply coughing up that much blood. Then I saw the other dog, it was limping at me from next to the other guy. Did I send it that far? But the man quickly pointed at the ground again and his finger glowed. It glowed for only a brief second, but I felt like I was staring at it for several minutes. The dog was gone.

I started walking towards the guy. "What in the world is going on? Where did your dog go? Why did your mutts try to kill me?" I felt like I had asked the questions very quickly but after I had consciously stopped talking the words were slowly coming out of my mouth.

Now he was looking at me with the same face of fear the child had given me. He bolted for the door. Dude, I hate running. I ran to catch up to him, but it only took a few long strides. Had I always been able to do this? I grabbed his collar and yanked him back. I pulled him exceptionally harder than I meant to, I think. When I pulled him back, he was immediately right next to me. There wasn't a delay in him falling back, it was maybe a quarter of a second at most, but he was right next to me rather than simply falling back. He was lying on his back just in the air right next to me.

But then he fell to the ground. He hit his head and made a gasping noise. When I looked down at him, his eyes had already rolled back in his head and a pool of reddish-black blood was forming. I squatted down to check his pulse, but I didn't need to because I could hear his breathing.

Oh, that's right I can ask the girl. I turned around to see her standing up staring at me intently. I started towards her to get within talking distance. When I charged the dogs, I didn't realize how far I had gotten from her. But then again, I also sent that dog flying with a sweet sidekick. And then when I pulled that guy back, he fell to the ground ridiculously fast. Something has happened, and this could be a good thing. Because I'm stronger than I have ever been right now.

When I got close, I threw my hand up flat as a universal greetings sign, but that gesture made her snap back to reality, and she started backing away. Nuh uh. I lunged forward, and I went way faster than intended. I landed right next to her; she was so surprised she fell right on her bum and looked up at me mouth wide.

Ok I don't want to hurt her, and I can't control my strength so let's not touch her. I squatted down to talk to her and began. "Hey there, my name is James. Where am I?" When I finished her face had a complete transformation, it went from scared lips quivering in horror face to a wide relaxing smile almost as if she had a moment of clarity.

"Mister... James. My name is Nateen. And I think I summoned you!" She started nervously but she said that last sentence excitedly. She looked at me excitedly and almost expectantly. "What do you mean you 'summoned me'?" I questioned, still in this weird crackly deep voice.

"Well, those big guys brought me here because they said I could summon their queen or something as cool as her. They told me to drop my blood on a piece of paper and think of bringing something in front of me. I did that and bam you were sitting on the ground, and they summoned some big doggies. And... And... You know the rest."

It is exactly like a fantasy novel. Or maybe even closer to something I'd see in an anime? I was flabbergasted. I sat there and just stared at Nateen for a few minutes. She broke the awkward silence first in a quiet quivering voice "Do you want to go home, Mister James?" I thought of my cats and nodded, "Yes. Yes, I do."

"Then let's go!" She jumped up full of energy and held out her hand to me. I looked at her face and saw a pure smile that only a young child like her could give out. I gave a small crackly chuckle and stood up, making a careful note to not grab her hand. But alas it didn't matter because she grabbed my hand, and we started walking to the door.

Next to the door, the guy who was coughing up blood was just slumped there. As we got up to the door I didn't hear any breathing from next to me. I made sure to keep my body between me and Nateen and opened the door. On the other side, we had a long hallway lit up with no torches and saw a door just like the one we opened at the other end. But the other end was so far maybe even four or five football fields away.

We started walking because well what other choice did we have? As we were walking, I decided to pray for more information. "So, what is the name of this place?" "Well, this is just a mountain behind the capital... So it doesn't really have a name." She replied.

"No no no, I mean like a name for the planet that you summoned me to."

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"What's a planet James?"

"Like your world, where do you guys just exist?"

"Oh, you should've said that first silly! We live on Earth."

That information hit me like a punch to the gut. Earth?? What? Where? That doesn't make sense!

We kept walking and I just brooded that over for a minute. "So those guys who took you in there. Who were they?" I asked.

"Oh," she said meekly lowering her head. Softly she continued, "One was Father Al, he was a Priest at a new church that sprouted near where me and my family lived. The other mister... Never really told me his name." She looked up and gave me a nervous smile.

I smiled back, or at least I meant to. "Well, those two cra-... Priests looked super similar and I think they were brothers." I said as joyfully as I could. Although it still came out cracked. She nodded and kept looking ahead. We were almost at the door now, so I guess there was no need for more small talk.

We got to the door, and she suddenly jumped in front of me. She put her hands on her hips and made a proclamation, "Mister you need to take three steps back and wait here." Before I could protest my legs backtracked exactly three steps. Woah. She looked smug after that. I rubbed the stubble on my chin and nodded.

She pushed open the door and we were bathed in warm sunlight. Well, it was more accurate to say that she was the one bathed in sunlight. As if a miracle had occurred the sunlight stopped in front of my toes, millimeters away. I wanted to move but I was waiting. She ran outside though and that was when I saw them.

There were knights clad in shining silver armor, exactly like what I would see in a Hollywood movie. There were only about five of them though. Alongside them, there were about a dozen or so uniformed soldiers. They had little green cloth hats and had on white shirts with some chainmail leggings. On their white shirts, they had an embroidered yellow insignia on it: a rearing horse with some rapiers making a cross on it. Additionally, I could see swords at their waists and they carried crossbows.

Then I saw their ranks open and a blonde teenager came waltzing out in the stereotypical authority-driven walk. By this point, Nateen had stopped walking and he walked right up to her and stopped about ten or fifteen feet away.

He spoke up in a high-pitched voice "Little girl, are you with that church that recently formed in the lower sections of the city?" God his voice made me want to punch him, and he spoke to her like a typical noble from anything fantasy.

Even though his voice and vernacular gave off the aura of a spoiled brat Nateen still put her hands together and looked at him and managed to stutter out a simple 'yes sir'. When she finished, he shook his head and raised his hand. The hair on my neck stood up and I tried to run forward because I'd seen that signal before in movies, games, anime, and books. It was the global hand signal for archers to fire. But my body wouldn't move, it was simply waiting. He brought his hand straight down without even taking any steps back.

Nateen screamed as a bolt hit her little shoulder causing her to fall back and the other bolts whizzed right over her head. I was able to move, and I quickly lunged straight forward. Due to the downward slope, I hadn't really taken note of before, I was instantly several feet in the air above the noble brat. He jerked his head up and looked at me with a shocked face. Swiftly he regained his composure showcasing his noble lineage. "Kill the summoner!" He shouted as I fell straight for him. Looking up I saw the arc hers reloading their bolts and the knights charging forward.

"I'll at least kill you brat." I spat out as I landed on top of him. Now his face was that of complete fear and helplessness, a face befitting one with his personality. I slammed my fists straight down into his forehead. I knew I had gotten strong but was still expecting it to take a little bit of ground and pound. But it took one to leave a deep dent in his forehead which causes his eyes to roll inside and his mouth to open wide. And the second one with my right hand splattered the insides of his head all over the grass. I didn't pay it much mind though as I was only seeing red due to my anger.

I jumped up to my feet and dashed toward Nateen. Even though I was angry I still had to make sure this little girl was safe. I scooped her up in my arms as I ran ignoring her crying of pain. I sprinted towards the tree line while another volley of bolts whizzed past me, and I arrived within moments. I sat her behind a massive tree trunk. I had to take care of these guys before they got to her.

I went around the tree and ran at them. The four knights had almost crossed the clearing and the crossbowmen were running along the opposite edges of the clearing. The crossbowmen noticed me first and immediately dropped down and fired a volley at me. Using my newfound strength, I ignored it and charged the knights. I heard the bolts slam into the trunk behind me. I was almost upon the knights when the one in front stopped, braced his feet, and then swung his sword in a wide horizontal slash. I saw it coming because it was telegraphed, although it was very fast, and jumped in the air at him for a tackle. I felt it graze my knees as my hands grabbed ahold of his helmet. I immediately brought my knees in and slammed them into his helmet repeatedly as we fell. By the time we hit the ground his whole helmet was caved in and blood was oozing out.

By this time the next one was upon me and dropping his sword in a downward strike. I rolled backward like I had done when I was a little kid but this time it was fast. I jumped back into a squat and noticed the fallen knight's sword right next to me. I grabbed it and it was surprisingly light. In the same motion as completing his downward swing the knight charged me with his sword pointed at me as if he was planning to run me through.

I dashed towards him and sidestepped the sword. He sliced it at me. I blocked it with the sword I picked up. He took some frantic steps back but with a few long strides I caught up to him. He dropped his sword and swung a gauntlet-covered fist at me in a noticeably untrained punch. Before his punch landed, I threw a straight jab at his face with my left hand, still clutching the sword, and knocked him backward. When he fell backwards, I saw the third one run at me. I slammed my right elbow down into the falling knight's helm and hastened his fall. When he hit the floor I stomped hard on his neck with my foot.

The third one let out a roar and swung his sword downward at me. I blocked it with my sword grasping the blade in my right hand while grasping the hilt with my left. He pushed downward and my superhuman strength started to falter. I quickly ended that risk though with a front kick to his chest with my stronger right leg. He went flying backward. He crashed into the fourth one and they both tumbled to the ground. I dashed over there and drove my sword straight down in one smooth motion getting a collateral piercing of them both. I tried pulling the sword out but it was lodged in the two knights very thoroughly.

I looked up and realized the crossbowmen all had a perfect line of sight on me and they had already taken their knees and were aiming their crossbows at me. God Damn it! Dashed away as they shot, and I barely avoided them. I dashed towards them and was on them within moments. It only took two punches per soldier, but I dispatched them one by one before they could pull their swords from their hips. It only took a few seconds, but it was a decisive few seconds. I then looked across the field and marveled at my handiwork.

I never would've imagined being able to do this before. I had spent a few years training martial arts off and on, because of motivation problems as well as gym problems, but never would I expected to be standing on a battlefield with bloody fists and bodies of many men under my feet. After counting there were fourteen bodies of these ranged infantry and four silver bodies of the more difficult knights. Wait FOUR? I frantically dashed back towards the tree but hadn't taken a second step before I got extremely nauseous and fell forward on the ground.

I mustered up all my strength that I could gather and was able to get up to my knees. I looked at the trunk as the last silver-donned soldier turned the corner. In his right hand was a short straight sword dripping with blood and in his left was Nateen. To be more precise he held a part of Nateen, just her head. The eyes were left open wide motionless in death and her mouth was open wide. Together they made a face of horror and I felt so sorry for her.

The knight walked a few more steps to me and threw the head a few yards onto the grass between us. Then he just started laughing. As the seconds passed I grew increasingly light headed and my eyes started closing on their own. The last thing I heard was a middle-aged voice proudly shout "Take out the Summoner and the summoned will follow right after! Haha!"

Then I was back in my apartment on the vinyl wooden flooring of my kitchen. And the nausea hit me harder than before. It hit me so hard that I judged I could only make it to the sink rather than the toilet. I puked off and on for a solid hour in that sink. I turned on the garbage disposal, because I clogged up the sink, and sunk down to the floor. It was then I was comforted by my cats. The first was Peaches, she was a three-year-old cat with a white underside and orange topside. The second was Pepper and she was a five-month-old gray tabby kitten.

These two are the reasons I would never want to be on some fantasy Earth. I sat there for a long while stroking my cats and thinking about that experience.

Logically speaking that had to be a dream. But it was far too vivid to be a dream. I could smell the non-showering stench that Nateen had. I could feel the metal as it caved in under my blows. I could even vividly smell and see the brain matter of that noble brat. Recalling that caused another vomiting fit. This one was longer.

Oh, whatever, I'm just going to go to bed. And so, I simply went to bed, but I could not sleep for the life of my life. The thoughts of that whole ordeal kept swirling around my head. The mental image of her smiling up at me with her hand outstretched would immediately be followed by the image of the soldier holding her lifeless head. And it made me angry.

I got no sleep due to not being able to stop thinking about the prior events, so I called into work the next morning. As I hung up the phone with my store manager, I recalled Nateen's lifeless head and the blood dripping from it. This time the mental image was vividly focused on the blood-dripping aspect of it. This triggered some early morning vomiting in the toilet. I guess I'm not as mentally capable as I thought.

The entire next day I mulled over that experience. It was a very violent ordeal as I woke up in that room and was attacked by two meth heads that were apparently priests. Following that I talked to the little girl and was attacked shortly after. I successfully saved her but then because I was so focused on satiating my bloodlust, I just threw her off to the side and ignored her. Due to that, the soldier was able to sneak around and kill off a poor defenseless girl. And the way he shouted so triumphantly after killing a girl as a fully grown man deeply angers me.

After that day life carried on still. I went to work and sold paint. Had two terrible atrocious shifts where my manager was on vacation, and I was the acting manager due to being the assistant. And I would come home and play video games as well as watch anime. It was weeks upon weeks since the first experience and with work being so hectic. At this point. I had completely forgotten about "Earth". But the second summoning still came nevertheless.
