“And… Finally,” whispered a boy barely out of his teens, “I am going to start playing.”

He ran his hand over the capsule, a tiny smile flickering at the corner of his lips. It cost him over 700,000 yen – and juggling multiple part-time jobs together with school months before Royal Road was released to the public – but it was worth it.

Royal Road was every gamer’s dream.

Opening the capsule, he slipped inside and quickly booted up the system. Immediately, his vision went dark.

‘Hah, the tutorial is for noobs. There is no way I’m going to be following that thing.’ Skipping past the tutorials, Gem appeared in Rosenheim Kingdom, right next to the fountain.

Slowly, he flexed his arm and fingers, making sure that he’s at least familiar with the interface before attempting to walk.

Sure enough, Royal Road has not deviated much in terms of basic interface, and it took virtually no time before Gem was flittering from board to board, taking in various information before deciding on his next move.
