THE SAMURAI NAMED MIMI
----------------------------------------
“Mimi!”
The shout of an elderly woman’s voice broke me out of whatever trance I had been halted in. ‘Mimi? Who the hell is that?’ I pondered.
Before I could continue that thought, a giant flying beast passed over my head. Even though the beast was thousands of meters in the air, the beast’s wings created a massive shockwave that nearly swept me off my feet.
“Where am I?”
The voice that spoke was beyond sweet. ‘That can’t be my voice!’ In panic, I looked down at the pool surrounding the waterfall and there it was. A slender and young, white-skinned girl with glowing pink eyes and long blue hair was captured in the pool of water.
The girl I was observing looked to be no older than 15 and she was clothed in a violet-colored Hakuma adorned with beautiful butterflies. ‘This girl could be defined as a transcendent beauty, but why am I this girl?’
I took a deep breath and touched my chest. It was predictably very modest, but even through my clothes, I was able to feel small mounds. “Hya!” Out of nowhere, I let off a small squeak, which left me feeling my face heating up. After the brief reaction, my body gave off after I touched my chest, I didn’t dare to reach down to my crotch after that.
When I looked down at my waist, there were two Katanas attached to the Hakuma. Both of them were blades that I could recognize without even pulling them from the sheathes. The blade closest to my hip was a Katana that I named Minami. It matched the color of my hair and seemed to bellow with the force of the sea.
I vaguely remembered the name of the second Katana was Una, but when I pulled it from the sheathe, my mind was assaulted with various pieces of text that I was able to understand was sword technique.
“Who am I? I’m a samurai… right?” I racked my brain for any memories of what was my presumed job, but I came up with nothing.
“Who am I now?”
“Mimi!” I heard the voice call a name again, and the name made my ears slightly twitch.
‘Am I the girl that she is referencing?’ I pondered the thought before I felt a splash in the water, which alerted me to the woman’s presence.
“There you are, Mimi!”
I finally saw the source of the voice that had been repeatedly calling my name. It was a woman who seemed to be about 50 centimeters taller than me; she had white hair, and her eyes were black. Her face was slightly wrinkled, but she still held a figure that captured an image of elegance.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
She was dressed in a silver dress that looked foreign to me, and she was only armed with one dagger that sat in its sheath at her hip.
“Mimi? What are you wearing, and where did you get those swords from?” The woman was looking at me as if I was a completely different person, which is somewhat true.
‘Fine then. I play the role of Mimi until I can figure out who I am and where I am.’ I finally decided and took a step forward towards the woman.
“Um, miss… I seem to have lost all of my memories and I woke up by this waterfall.” I pointed at the close by waterfall that reflected a rainbow in the distant sunlight.
“No way…” The woman took another step and now stood directly in front of me. She was about 10 centimeters away from me now.
When she embraced me, somewhat of a warm feeling enveloped my body. ‘What kind of feeling is this?’ I thought to myself as I found myself lost in a feeling of bliss.
“Mimi, my name is Luna. Do you remember me?” she asked softly while she still firmly held me in her embrace.
All I could do was shake my head slightly in confusion. ‘The Mimi that you knew is gone, after all.’ While I couldn’t directly tell her I wasn’t from this world, I still refused to lie to her and say I remembered her.
“I am your grandmother, and you have been living with me for 3 years since your parents died.” She explained as she let go of me and stared me in my eyes.
Memories briefly flashed before my eyes of two figures being slashed in half by a monster. I couldn’t make out the figure, but it was large and was covered by darkness.
Luna seemed to notice the brief pause in my breathing as I recalled the memory and grabbed both of my hands.
“Mimi, did you remember something?” she asked, with a hint of hope plastered across her face.
“Yes, just briefly,” I spoke and was once again pained by the tone of my voice.
“Well Mimi, let’s make our way back home. It’s very dangerous in the area.” Luna explained to me, but I was slightly puzzled by what was dangerous about this open forest. The waterfall I woke next to was stunning and aside from that flying beast that had soared thousands of meters above me, nothing around me had stoked my senses.
“Elder Luna? What exactly is so dangerous?”
----------------------------------------
As we made the trek home, Luna explained to me about beings known as magic beasts and demons. Magic beasts were animals that absorbed pure Mythica, which seems to be the source of all magic in this world.
Demons are also beings that absorb Pure Mythica and release impure Mythica into the land. This impure Mythica, however, pollutes the soil and makes it impossible for humans to live around them.
While this created a rift between the humans and demons, it hasn’t caused any large-scale conflict between the two races. More advanced demons can control the amount of Mythica they release, and they can even take human forms. Those beings are called Demi-Humans. In the city closest to where Luna lives, there aren’t many of them.
As we crossed over a shallow creek, I noticed the presence of a very powerful being. A massive creature that resembled a horse approached the creek that Luna and I had stood at. The creature had two massive horns on its head. Both of them were white and seemed to be imbued with some sort of energy. The enormous creature was also covered in beautiful scales violet scales and stood on four legs at about 3x my height. It let off a roar that pierced my ears with power and fear, but I stood tall without moving from my position as I observed the beautiful creature.
“Mimi run! That is the B-Rank magic beast, Syrinix!
