The Observer.
The Observer finds themselves in a world. A peculiar world where the fundamental laws of physics are slightly different, giving rise to the phenomena of magic.
Here, The Observer is experiencing something. The observer can see a warrior. A hero perhaps? He is fighting the another individual. An individual resembling a stereotypical Demon Lord of this world. It appears to be the final battle; as if whoever wins the battle decides the fate of the world. The are both desperately holding on but it has now become a battle of attrition.
They both wants to win. They both want to "save" the world. They both ask for strength from the divines. Anyone, anything, any Gods, any being. Any Observer. Someone to give them strength and defeat their opponent.
The Observer hears these words: Do you wish to save the world?
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The words appear inside The Observers mind. Save the world? Both the hero and the demon lord wish to save the world, but who is right and who is wrong? Depending on the answer of The Observer, the fate of the world is decided.
Do you wish to save the world?
Again, The Observer hear these words. It appears The observer must make a choice and decide the fate of the world. The hero, or the demon lord. The Observer must pick one to help and decide the fate of he world.
Or alternatively, The Observer can simply look away, decide nothing and leave the world to its own fate.
You are The Observer. The Observer now realises who they are. They must now choose.
Help the hero.
Help the demon lord.
Leave without choosing and leave the world it to its own fate.
The Observer inevitably will make a choice. That choice, is what decides the fate of this world.
However, the role of The Observer is over with that, they will not know what happens after their choice. Was it the right choice or was it the wrong one? The Observer will never know. Perhaps it is a story they choose themselves.
This is the end of The Observers role.
