Chapter 50:

Io paced back and forth inside the interrogation room. The man in black sat quietly at the table. There were several other men in black suits behind him, carefully monitoring Io’s actions. Scattered papers decorated the table. One of them was a Social Security card that read “Lola Barrett”

“Miss Kekoa, would you like to sit down now?” The man asked in a polite tone. Io halted for a moment and looked at him. There was frustration and anger in her eyes.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Io said in a harsh tone. She looked down at the papers. “You’re telling me that I am to assume a new name and life and move to a city somewhere in the country; never to go back to my old life again? That’s pretty fucked up, man.” Io said as she grabbed the chair, spun it around and sat in it backwards with her arms crossed on the back of the chair. The man across from Io gave her a blank stare.

“We understand that this has come at a time of inconvenience for you but please realize that the alternative would have not been in your favor. This is a mercy of what we are doing. You get to continue your life, your pursues, dreams and ambitions but at the cost of your previous life.” The man said.

“Who the hell are you clowns anyway?” Io asked.

“We are the Magical Threat Containment Unit.”

In the room across the hall, Nyssia sat in a colorful room. There were clowns and colorful balloons decorating the walls and a small wooden table with some toys on it. Nyssia sat on the floor playing with toy wooden blocks. A woman sat in a plastic blue chair across from her holding a clipboard.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Nyssia,” She started in a gentle voice. “Tell me what happened to you in the past few days.” The woman said. Nyssia sat in silence as she stacked some blocks. Her gaze was a bit hazy.

“Stuff.” she finally said after a few moments of silence.

“What kind of stuff?”

“Big stuff. Bad stuff.” Nyssia said as she stopped her construction. She looked up at the woman with a distant look. The woman started to write down some notes on the clipboard. Nyssia then reached into her pocket and pulled out the little nun puppet and had it face the woman.

“Nyssia doesn’t want to talk right now, lady.” Nyssia said in a squeaky voice. “She’s still feeling icky about stuff.”

This didn’t seem to phase the woman at all.

“Please explain what kind of stuff.”

Nyssia turned the puppet back to herself and then had it face the woman again.

“She’s feeling sad about her friends. She’s worried. She also has been having nightmares of bad things coming after her.” The nun puppet said as it danced back and forth.

“Who are her friends?”

“There was a giant, an alchemist, a vampire and a witch.” The little nun said.

The woman wrote down some more notes and flipped through the other papers on her clipboard. She took out several photos and placed them down in front of Nyssia.

“Are these your friends?” The woman asked. Nyssia tilted her head down and looked at the pictures. In a flash she discarded the nun puppet and snatched one of the photos up. She hugged the photo and started to shake and cry.

“I wanna go home. I wanna go home. I wanna go home. I wanna go home.” Nyssia said frantically as tears flooded her eyes. Her words trembled with fear and sadness. The woman, who remained unphased by Nyssia’s actions, looked down at the remaining pictures. There was a picture of Io running with Samantha through the hallway. There was a picture of Evelyn leaning against the wall, shirt stained with blood. The picture that Nyssia was holding was one of Jane walking down the hallway with a cup in her hand.
