Chapter 22 - Violet

Violet felt pretty good, all things considered. Sure, she was still part dragon, but even that likely wouldn’t last much longer.

Still, her wounds were healing up pretty nicely and it was kind of nice to be babied for a little bit. Lying in bed while others came to her. Her grandmother had given her an earful over the phone for not having told her about everything. Tani was apologetic for having left her at all, though frankly she was pretty sure it was the only reason she was still alive. Even Duke had put in a little bit of effort to help her out, the Security Forces moving in and finishing dispersing the evil spirit before it could try to reform. They’d even managed to recover most of her knives.

Best of all?

Nobody told her mother, otherwise she’d likely have to put up with who knew what. She’d wait until she was full strength to hear about that. Now there was only one final thing to do before this whole ordeal was put to rest.

A light knock on the door told her it was time. “Come in,” she called out.

Scarlet opened the door and beside her was a young man. He wore great flowing robes and, unsurprisingly, was covered in more charms than even the Witch of the Pale Moon had been. He even had a few woven into his long beard and hair. Eesh. She didn’t want to imagine the kind of stuff he usually dealt with if he felt the need for that much protection.

“Ah, so you must be young Violet, then?” he asked.

“Uhhhh… Grand Warlock Xavion?” Violet asked.

“Indeed,” the man said before walking towards her. “Now, I do hope you understand I don’t normally do house calls, however, your friend made quite the convincing argument.”

Violet glanced towards Scarlet. “She did?”

“Not her, your other friend,” Xavion said.

Violet blinked and gave Scarlet a confused look. The vampire mouthed ‘Jasmine’ towards her. Ah, that explained it. “Yeah, she can be convincing.”

“Now then, may I take your hand?” Xavion asked before holding out his own hand towards her.

“Only if I can have it back after,” Violet said sheepishly. He didn’t laugh. She gave a sigh and held out her hand to him.

He muttered some incantations before pulling his hand back from her. “What in the blazes have you done to yourself?”

“Uhhhhh…” Violet said, blinking a few times. “Nothing? I mean. Cursed necklace, I guess. But other than that…”

Xavion shook his head. “No, that is not just some ‘cursed necklace’. Have you been tampering with magic?”

“Maybe a little bit?” Violet said sheepishly.

“This is why amateurs should stay away from things they do not understand. I’ll be right back,” Xavion said before storming out from the room.

Violet gave Scarlet a confused look, though the girl just shrugged.

------

Violet felt, oddly, incredibly light. Also, incredibly stupid. At least now she had some answers.

Unfortunately, those answers could be summed up as she was an idiot who couldn’t be trusted.

He’d used a lot of words she didn’t understand, quite a few she was fairly certain were insults and a lot of other talk she didn’t quite grasp. But, as best she could understand, the necklace was cursed, but the curse was relatively minor in comparison to everything else. Unfortunately, her spell to check if it was cursed hadn’t been done correctly and had caused a bit of a chain reaction when she’d put it on. Since her other curse was already transforming her into something, combined with the weird necklace, the dragon’s blood, not to mention the ‘binding spell’ she’d tried to use before, well. It had all been the perfect storm of half a dozen spells and curses that were all creating a weird, wild storm of chaotic magic. Practically a beacon to any angry spirits nearby.

Who knew how long it had been festering in her, or how bad it would have gotten in the end if she hadn’t ended up leaving the city so quickly? Fortunately the city itself specifically had shamans, warlocks, witches and any number of different experts in such things on staff to ensure that such spirits didn’t congregate inside city limits. But once outside?

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

In the end, the warlock had done what she could only truly describe as taking a steel wool scrubbing brush to her soul, disentangling the mess and removing the magic bit by bit. After that, removing the necklace was tricky and something he claimed should ‘only be done by an expert, NOT by some halfwit hunter with an immortality complex’. That one stung a little bit, not that she felt it was unwarranted. It just kind of felt embarrassing to know she’d nearly gotten herself killed over a few minor miscasts. She wondered if it was arrogant to be kind of proud to know that her ‘miscasts’ had been so impressive that even a Grand Warlock thought it was ‘a truly awe-inspiring display of incompetence’. Probably a bit.

Still, once it was all done, Violet slept better than she had in weeks. She felt clean in a way she hadn’t in ages. When she woke up, she felt wide eyed and bushy tailed, even if she no longer had a tail.

She crawled out of bed as slowly as she could, making her way towards the door and pulling it open.

Only for Scarlet to be standing outside of the room, a predatorial grin on her lips that made her stomach do a little flutter. “Feeling better?” the vampire asked in a soft, delicate tone that made Violet’s toes curl a little.

“A little bit,” Violet said gently. Before she knew it she was back against the wall, a hand over her shoulder. Her legs suddenly felt so weak and not because of the prior blood loss.

“Only a little bit?” Scarlet asked. “Then why are you walking around?”

“A lot bit,” Violet said again. Struggling to stop her legs from shaking.

“Mmmm? A lot?” Scarlet asked. “Good, then. Because I need your help…” she whispered before pushing in a little more. Her chest pushing into Violet’s own. Trapping her against the wall. “There are quite a few gorgeous little dresses upstairs, just waiting for someone to wear for me. To dance for me. I think I’ve earned your obedience now, have I not?”

“O-obedience?” Violet asked weakly.

“Mmm hmm. I saved your life, did I not?” Scarlet asked, grinning down at her. “To the victor go the spoils, no?”

Violet’s legs gave out a little, but she couldn’t even fall with the vampire pinning her to the wall like so. She swore her face couldn’t get much redder. “I-I’m spoils n-now?”

“I intend to spoil you,” Scarlet whispered, before leaning in and whispering into her ear. “My little Violet. Doesn’t that sound… fun?”

“I don’t… I…” Violet said softly.

“Put you in some cute little stockings, make you dress in little pretty gowns. Make you my cute little princess… to start,” Scarlet whispered before, very gently, biting her earlobe. Not piercing it. Just nibbling it delicately and making her whine.

“I can’t,” Violet whispered. “I don’t…” Oh, but how she longed to. How desperately she longed to. She’d never felt anything in her entire life that sounded as appealing as being her little dress up doll then.

“Then say it,” Scarlet whispered. “Say ‘no’… tell me you will deny my desire to make you my pretty little dolly…”

“I… I…” Violet whispered, shuddering when Scarlet pulled back, giving her ear one last little tug, then stared into her eyes. The vampire had such gorgeous eyes that she longed to melt into. “I… can’t…”

“Then you will obey,” Scarlet said in a commanding, arrogant tone. “Like a good little girl.” Her hand reached up, gripping her side just under her chest.

“Yes,” Violet said, surrendering to the other woman. “You’re not… using your charms, are you?”

“Only my feminine ones,” Scarlet said with a light chuckle that filled Violet with both desire and shame at the same time.

“This isn’t fair,” Violet whispered.

“Do you want me to play fair?” Scarlet asked.

“No,” Violet said, the first thing she felt absolutely certain about. Her stomach tightened into a wonderful knot at the vampire’s smile.

Scarlet snickered before her hands moved down and she picked Violet up, carrying her in a gentle bridal carry. “Good, because I don’t intend to. I know all of your little weaknesses. Just where to poke and prod. Just where to touch to make you squirm. I know just how desperately you long to be my cute little dress up dolly. You can deny it, try to argue it, even fight it. But in the end, we both know you’ll be up there soon, spinning in your cute little dress, a blushing, squirming, giddy mess…” she whispered.

Violet shivered, her heart pounding so, so hard as she was carried out the door and slowly brought up the stairs. “Yeah? What makes you so certain?”

Scarlet gave a light snicker before kissing her delicately on the lips. “Oh, my little hunter. I’ve had centuries to figure out everything I desired. You’ve had, what, a decade? You’re still just a rookie.”

Violet blinked a little bit, struggling to push through that fog of giddy, squealing excitement that made it hard to focus. She felt there was something there, in those words, that she was missing. Maybe not important, but definitely there.

She didn’t get the opportunity to piece it out, though, as within a few moments they were up the stairs and she was put down, now standing directly in front of the beautiful red dress she had not too long ago worn in a shop. Now she would wear it here. For a special vampire.

Scarlet gave a small, delicate little growl into her ear. “Shall we then, my little princess?”

“Yes,” Violet whispered gently. Her entire body shaking when she felt the vampire’s hands stroke down her back. For once, when she heard that voice that told her she had to be a tough, strong hunter and couldn’t be a cute little dress up doll too, she told it to shut up. She could be whatever she wanted to be.

And right now what she wanted to be was Scarlet’s little dancer.

Later? Well, later she’d take some time to ‘spoil’ the vampire. Show her that she wasn’t the only one who could be spoiled.
