Chapter 2. What Is A Fantasy World Without At Least An Elf?

Chapter 2. What Is A Fantasy World Without At Least An Elf?

Immediately after the system notification, he feels some sort of energy is pulled from him by the system. At the same time, his status panel appears automatically.

On the panel, he saw the amount of GP on him start to decrease quickly. Which makes him conclude the energy pulled from him are his GP.

Anyway, the thing happening on his status panel right now is unimportant. Once the GP is pulled from him, Cedric closed his eyes and felt the GP went towards the vast empty space he saw before.

Those GP controlled by the system and turned into the shape of a blurry transparent hollow cube. As more and more GP went into the cube, it became more and more solid, yet still transparent.

Finally, the GP stopped flowing into the cube. Right now, it looks like a hollow cube shaped transparent crystal. The system’s message also appears with its completion.

[First phase completed. Start the second phase, importing basic rules from the universe to the world.]

The GP pulled from him changed its function and turned into some sort of conceptual thing. It spread evenly throughout the interior of the crystal cube while giving Cedric a weird feeling.

Sometimes it gives him the sensation of heaviness, sometimes brightness, or darkness, or even cold and warmth. Along with those sensations, the System keeps on sending notifications.

[Basic gravity rule imported successfully.]

[Basic light rule imported successfully.]

[Basic force rule imported successfully.]

[Basic …]

Cedric feels those spam messages lasted for a long time before it finally changed.

[Second phase completed. Starting the last phase, System will proceed to fill the space with materials.]

With that message, the GP turned into materials that filled the crystal cube’s interior.

It first turned into air like substance and filled the interior. Then, it turned into rocks and metals that went to the bottom of the crystal cube. Those rocks and metals don’t spread evenly, with the center of the cube’s interior being much taller compared to its surroundings.

After it reached a certain height, the GP stopped turning into rocks and changed into movement like force. It shook the rocks on a certain layer and caused them to heat up. With it, the rock within that layer quickly changes into flowing magma.

Finally, the GP turned into water and became a torrential rain that filled every part of the world. It submerged the rock below a certain height and created a massive ocean. It only stopped when around half of the world was submerged.

At last, what existed in Cedric’s sight is a huge transparent crystal cube with a barren square world in it. The world consists of a sea area with a continent in the middle. There is a flat sun, moon and multitude of starry lights projected in the cube shaped crystal wall.

From the outside, it looks like a snow globe. But, instead of globe shaped, it is cube shaped.

[Third phase completed. The basic world system has been created.]

Even after hearing the system’s notification, Cedric still watched the crystal cube world in silence. His heart was full of awe at the process that had previously happened.

Finally he came to his senses and asked. “System, what’s the matter with that sun, moon, and stars? Why are they flat just like a moving pictures stuck on a screen?”

[Those sun, moon, and stars are merely projections. Although they have similar effect as an actual sun, moon, and stars that you’re familiar with. But, they have no physical mass nor mystical properties. A physical sun, moon and stars is extremely expensive and requires a massive amount of GP to create.]

“So, it returns back to not having enough GP.” Cedric sighed while opening his eyes and saw the pure white divine space. “By the way, can I expand the size of that crystal wall in the future? Or even create a new Crystal Wall that contains a world?”

[Yes.]

The system merely answers with a short ‘yes’. Nevertheless, that answer still satisfied him as he added. “Then, let’s continue to the next process. I am starting to get curious about how to fill the world with creatures.”

[Please open the Race section.]

Cedric followed the guide and entered the Race section. When he opened it, he was greeted by a new screen filled with a long list.

[Race (as the world level increase, the average ability of the race will also increase):

…]

“What the hell is this Basic Human Package and Basic Elves Package?” Cedric speechlessly looked at the item's name before pressing the button for the top three items to check their descriptions.

[Basic Human Package. Cost: 1.000 GP

Include 10.000 humans with 1:1 gender ratio and 80 years of average maximum lifespan, basic language knowledge, tribal civilization, basic agriculture knowledge, …]

[Basic Elves Package. Cost: 5.000 GP

[Basic Dwarf Package. Cost: 5.000 GP

Include 10.000 dwarfs with 1:1 gender ratio and 200 years of average maximum lifespan, 1 low level magic mountain, basic agriculture knowledge, basic language knowledge, basic metallurgy knowledge, metal affinity…]

There is a mess of information written on those three. The only thing Cedric understood among those is that humans cost the cheapest to create. Furthemore, their stats are quite bad compared to the other two.

Then, he skipped the list selling specific races and looked for the package that contained a wide variety of creatures.

[Basic Creature Package. Cost: 5.000 GP.

Include around 1.000.000 random species of life. Which include animals, plants, fungi, microbes, etc. also include several viruses.]

[Basic Fantasy Creature Package (Mana). Cost: 10.000 GP.

Include around 10.000 random species of life adapted to special energy: Mana. Include animals, plants, fungi, etc.]

“So, this Basic Creatures Package and Basic Fantasy Creatures only include non-intelligent creatures?”

[Half right. The Basic Creatures Package and Basic Fantasy Creatures Package’s creatures have a certain chance to have intelligence equaling humans. Although most of them have a much lower intelligence.]

“Then, how come their prices are only five times that of Basic human package even though the amount of species in it are a lot more?”

[It doesn’t include civilization and other complicated things. Every single one is born as a blank state in the wilderness. Furthermore, most of them consist of microbes or other simple life forms which are quite easy to create.]

Cedric found the explanation to be quite reasonable. “By the way, are there any limitations on the amount of race I could buy?”

[No.]

He looked at the list of those race’s abilities and fell into thought. “I'd like to purchase 5 basic human packages, 1 basic Elves package, 1 basic Dwarf Package, 1 Basic Creature Package, and 1 Basic Fantasy Creature Package.”

He calculated the amount, and in total, he spent 30.000 GP. Which is much more compared to the one spent purchasing the world system.

Including all of his previous purchases, Cedric already spent 85.000 GP. Which means the amount of GP in his person is only 15.000.

To be honest, he is at first in a dilemma whether to purchase the elves and dwarves package. As for the reason, it is the same as the one that makes him discard both Spirit Qi and Basic Life Force. With their long lifespan, they will be more relaxed in their training.

But it is a fantasy world he is creating. What is a fantasy world without at least some fantasy races like elves and dwarves?

[Are you sure about your purchase? Do you wish to add anything else?]

Cedric nodded. “I am sure, and I don’t think I need to add anything else.”

[Before starting, please name your world.]

Cedric only thought for a moment before he replied, “Just name it Crystal Cube World. I am starting to get used to the name.”

[Name added successfully.]

[The process of creating creatures will start now. It will take at least a month and up to a year. Please follow and feel the change as you need to do it on your own in the future.]

As soon as that notification appears, Cedric feels his GP moved on its own. He closed his eyes and saw the vast empty space with the crystal cube floating in the middle.

The GP controlled by the System went towards the Crystal Cube world and entered it.

Those GP turned into many microscopic living creatures, which began to spread in the world. Whether it is ocean, land, or air, they are quickly filled with microscopic creatures.

While those creatures spread, Cedric also feels his GP is controlled to do some subtle things. For example, to help change the rock into soils with the help of the recently created microbes.

Once the transformation reached a certain level, the GP stopped turning into microbes and began to create plants and fungi. It turns the initially barren world green at extremely high speed.

Cedric feels like he is watching a fast-forwarded reforestation activity.

Once both the land and ocean have been filled with vegetation, the GP finally changed its function. It now begin to create animals of varying shapes. First, there are many species of insects, then small herbivores, big herbivores, the carnivores, and omnivores animals.

The GP keeps on changing into creatures. Among those changes, there is a subtle balance that Cedric can’t exactly say but can be sensed. The amount of predators and herbivores within an area is just enough, with the location they’re placed in being the most suitable one for each race to not fall into extinction within a short time. Some are spread throughout the continent while some races are focused within an area.

Time passes. Among the subtle sense of correctness, Cedric now feels it is lacking something. Just like a puzzle that lacks a few pieces.

When he felt so, the GP controlled by System changed its function and began creating something else. It first created a gigantic mountain located in the continent’s north. Then, there is another forest that grows from a plain in the eastern area. Finally, a few structures that look like houses appear in some areas of the mountain and forest.

Cedric saw it and remembered the magic mountain and magic forest, which is a part of the elves and dwarves package he bought.

Except for the buildings on the magic forest and mountain, there are also a lot of small settlements spread around the southern and western part of the continent. Those settlements are built around the continent’s rivers.

Cedric has counted it and there seem to be ten such settlements.

Once the settlements were created, his GP flowed and turned into humans, dwarves, and elves. Those creatures are created inside the settlements that the System has constructed before.

Although he called them settlements, those groups of buildings give off the feeling of being a tribe instead of a city.

Currently, whether it is the human, the elves, or the dwarves, they are fast asleep at their respective houses.

Those human tribes, elven magical forest, and dwarven magic mountains are placed in a location with higher herbivore density compared to the carnivore ones. The existence of those humanoid races also filled the sense of ‘missing a few pieces’ that he felt before.

Cedric fell into a daze to feel the aftertaste of that creation scene. That is, until the system suddenly sends another message.

[You have the talent to be a god.]

“Huh?” The sudden praise confuses Cedric.

[You’ve understood the basics of creation in such a short time. You can even feel the place that’s still lacking a balance.]

“Do you mean the feeling of ‘lacking a few pieces’ that I felt before?” Cedric asked in confusion, “Isn’t that merely a basic knowledge on the food chain?”

[It’s not that simple.]

Just when Cedric wishes to question the System on what it means, the humanoid creatures that have been created woke up.
