My vision shook violently for a moment and I screeched my bike to a halt. When everything steadied, the other end of the tunnel was no longer visible. Looking back, the entrance had also vanished. And new windows appeared.
First dungeon located. Experience rewards increased by 300%
First temporary dungeon located. Look rewards increased by 150%
Transition dungeon entered. Damage received increased by 50%. Dungeon closes in 5 hours and you will be forcibly removed when the timer expires.
I turned my bike off and dismounted, pulling my sword out of my inventory. I attempted to place my bike in my inventory but, as I expected, it wouldn't work. I really hoped this wasn't where I was going to have to ditch it, but I couldn't take it with me.
The concrete tunnel has completely changed to a jagged rocky cave, the ground was uneven and the walls were too close and had too many narrow turns for me to be able to even walk my bike with me. Even if it wasn't, I doubted rolling my bike around with me would be good for my survival. I sighed and started forward.
So what is this, a 'reach the end' or 'kill the boss' kind of thing? Is 5 hours a lot of time or not enough? How fast do I gotta be, and where are the… anything?
After 30 minutes of walking and seeing nothing, I started to wonder if this was some kind of joke, or if I had missed the point.
Maybe this is some kind of mining dungeon that I can't take advantage of 'cause I don't have the tools for it. Maybe it's a trap, and I missed all the warning signs and I'm about to be ambushed. God, I hope whatever is about to brutally murder me doesn't rip my bike to pieces for parts.
As I worried about how much I was probably not noticing a light started to grow at the end of the passage. It looks like the flickering light of a fire glowing a soft orange. As I got closer to it I could hear voices talking in some kind of animalistic language. I knew it wasn't just the random sounds of animals but I definitely couldn't understand what they were saying. I got to an opening for a large room with several tents set up around a campfire with a bunch of greyish green creatures and scanned one of them.
Hob-goblin fighter.
Hob-goblins are among some of the most vicious races constantly raiding settlements around them, always leaving enough to rebuild just so they can do it all over again.
HP: 400MP: 80
There were 5 of them sitting around the fire and I was pretty sure I couldn’t take all 5 at once. I pulled back into the tunnel so I was no longer visible in the opening and pulled a can of beans from my inventory. I held my sword at the ready and tossed the can into the air. As it hit the ground the hob-goblins went silent. Moments later I could hear footsteps heading toward me. As a head came through I swung my blade down as fast as I could. His head hit the ground and rolled toward the wall then its body hit the ground. I quickly pulled out the scrolls I got from the spider loot and used them both in quick succession then cast my own level 1 flame bolt and watched my mana dip for the first time. 11 bolts of fire flew at a goblin one after another, they all just stood there in shock as it burned up and dropped dead and I evened the odds. 3 versus 1 still wasn’t a great situation to be in, but it was better than 5.
They all rushed at me, anger blazing in their eyes. The first one lunged at me trying to grab me. I stepped to the side and kicked it in the back of the leg, then I swung my blade to the left as the second one came close. I landed a cut on its right cheek and it quickly backed up to avoid my second swing. The third one managed to land a punch on my side as I tried for a third swing on the second one.
They all backed up circling me, not making a move. It looked like the first one I was favouring his right leg meaning I must have really hurt the other one.
Alright, I’ll call him Limpy, the one I managed to cut Slit and the last one Fist.
I held up my hand and cast Flame Bolt at Limpy and ran towards Slit. As I got close to him a patch of earth sprang up in front of me and I slammed into it. Before I could reorient myself, Fist grabbed me and threw me to the ground. As his fist came towards me I rolled to the side and swiped my sword at his leg, goring it and knocking him to the ground. I pulled myself up trying to get my barrings and immediately was pelted by rocks.
Are they….. Throwing ROCKS AT ME
I ran to the side and behind the wall that appeared. I pulled out a healing potion and downed it quickly. As my health bar started filling I peeked over the wall and cast another flame bolt at them. Then I ran over to Fist and jammed my blade into his head. I cast another flame bolt at the others and another wall blocked it.
One of them must have some kind of spell
I ran towards and around it, as I saw the eyes of Slit, I thrust my blade at him slicing his throat open. As I pulled my blade out of him Limp raked his claws against my back. I screamed out and stumbled a few steps forwards before turning to face him. Right as I got my balance he rushed at me I thrust my blade into him and he slashed his claws at me. As my blade skewered him, his claws dug into my chest. I stared into his eyes as the rage left them and he dropped to the ground. I pulled my blade free and placed it back into my inventory and dropped to the ground as I chugged a health potion.

As soon as the battle ended all the windows came up at once. I closed them all and then my eyes and took a few deep breaths.
I have to be a lot more careful. My health was on the brink there. Had that last one been any stronger I’d be dead right now.
My health bar was at 3% before I downed the last potion. I could see that bar was filling slowly and the icon that showed that my health was increasing from the potion and drank another. A 2 popped up on the icon and I focused on it.
Multiple similar buffs and effects only increase the duration unless stated otherwise.
I sighed and focused on the timer for the dungeon closing
I guess I look at my stats and whatnot after the dungeon closes.
I got up and changed my vision to mana sight and looked around the room. There was a faint glowing in one of the tents and I headed towards it. After rummaging through all 5 tents, I only managed to find 2 things of note. A spell book for the walls that one of them was creating, and a very interesting dagger, along with more coin.
Return Dagger.
This dagger, once thrown will return to sender once called.
I looked at the window for a second. That seems like odd wording. Return to sender? I shrugged it off as a translation error and I read the spellbook
You have learned the spell Create Wall level 1.
Create a wall in front of you. The higher the spell level, the tall, wider and more wall types you can make.
I looked back at the timer for the dungeon as it reached the last 5 seconds and took a deep breath. As it reached zero, the walls vanished and it turned back into a regular underpass. My bike had reappeared 5 feet away from me and I felt like a huge weight was lifted from me.
I think that says something about me that I was more worried about the state of my bike than my own safety.
I finally pulled up my stat page and read through it.

I focused on my class and a new window appeared with a variety of classes, a list longer than I had seen in any game. A lot were greyed out with some kind of prerequisite so I just ignored those.
I studied the list for a while but I had my eye set on something from the beginning.
Spellblade. Rare
A mix of magic and swordsmanship, a combat style though long dead. Long ago there was a clan of powerful mages that were more like monks, that used the various forms of martial arts as a form of meditation. Eventually, they found a way to mix their magic with certain forms of swordplay that could channel their mind like an incantation for their magic creating a deadly combat style that had the precision of the blade but the power of spell-slinging. There were, however, many people that thought this was too much power for a sect to have, and when they would not share the secret, they were sought out and hunted. Of course, a powerful fighting style was not so easily eliminated. Some members went into hiding for hundreds of years and trained many loyal students, worked as mercenaries and perfected their style of combat. But even the most powerful fighters couldn’t stand against armies alone and when the King of Valastrauta, the child of the man they first rejected found any of them, he destroyed nations to get justice for his father. Rich boys are the worse, aren’t they?
It might be a gamble to take this, as I might be hunted down. But it did say, it was thought long dead, so hopefully, no one still alive had a hate boner on for me just because I was a spellblade. I selected it and a new window appeared.
Congratulations Spellblade. Please choose a reward for being the first in your world to gain a rare class.
* Magic Blade
* Random spell book
* Spellblade combat skill book.
I chose the obvious option. I already had an evolving weapon and 2 spells with the ability to learn new spells from scrolls or other spell books. As I selected it, the book appeared in my hands and I was prompted to read it. I selected yes and a very animated voice started speaking in my head.
“Hello! And welcome to the Spellblade training program. With this book, you will go from zero to an absolute master in 100 levels or your money back guaranteed.”
A checklist of tasks appeared in my quest overlay that was greyed over with the words ‘Locked until skills are chosen.’
* Practice 1000 guided blade motions
* Practice 1000 footwork drills
* Practice a spell 1000 times
* Eat a decent meal
None of it seemed too difficult, as long as there wasn’t some kind of time limit. I hoped on my bike as I pulled my skill window, and read through them and I continued to the city
