Chapter 12: The Alchemist’s Craft

POV: Theo

The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a silvery glow over the fog-laden valley. I sat cross-legged by my makeshift campfire, the flickering flames dancing in rhythm with my racing heart. Tonight felt different, charged with potential. With my alchemist kit spread out before me, I was ready to take my first step into the world of potion-making.

“Alright, Theo, time to put that knowledge to use,” I murmured to myself, excitement bubbling within me. I glanced at the Sunblossoms I had collected earlier, their petals shimmering softly in the firelight.

Using my Ingredient Analysis skill, I had noted that these flowers possessed incredible healing properties. If I could successfully create a potion from them, it might prove invaluable for my survival—or for anyone else I might encounter.

With a deep breath, I began sorting through my kit, gathering the necessary tools: a small glass flask, a mortar and pestle, and a few other basic alchemical instruments.

“Let’s see... petals, water, and maybe a bit of... what else do I have?” I rifled through my supplies and pulled out a handful of dried herbs I had foraged earlier, a mix of mint and something I couldn’t quite identify. “Let’s go with it. Worst case, I get a weird-smelling liquid.”

I set to work, carefully measuring out the Sunblossom petals. As I crushed them in the mortar, their sweet fragrance filled the air. “This is already promising,” I thought, a grin spreading across my face.

Next, I added the dried herbs, mixing them into the paste until it turned a vibrant yellow. “Now for the water,” I said, pouring in a measured amount. The mixture fizzed slightly, a sign that the reaction was occurring. I watched, fascinated, as the colors swirled together.

I carefully transferred the mixture into the glass flask, sealing it tightly. My heart raced at the thought of what I had just created. “Please work,” I whispered, holding the flask up to the moonlight.

Now came the moment of truth. I had to decide how to test it. “Maybe on a small cut? Or... should I just drink it?” I pondered. The latter seemed a bit reckless, even for me. Instead, I glanced around and noticed a small stone I had scraped my hand on earlier.

“Perfect,” I said, and I squeezed a drop of the potion onto the minor wound. As I watched, the skin began to tingle, and I could feel a warmth spreading from the spot. Slowly, the redness faded, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“It worked! I actually did it!” I exclaimed, feeling an exhilarating rush of accomplishment. I had successfully crafted a healing potion, and it felt like magic.

Suddenly, the air around me shimmered, and the familiar chime of the System echoed in my mind.
