Ben is released from his confinement by Albert and Rin after Bison gives them the key. Albert informs Ben about the battle he missed out on and asks about the egg in his possession. Ben made hand signs as a reply, but neither Albert nor Rin could understand it, so Ben requested them to return his phone.
After they return it, Ben opens the monster app and summons the Great Dreamer out. It seats itself on top of Ben's bald head before expanding its body to consume it and proceeds to mentally communicate with Ben.
"How dare you let that stinking Minotaur remove me from my seat of power?"
"I didn't have a choice in the matter. It didn't help our cause when you tried to use mind infliction skills on the guy."
"The nerve of that bull to challenge me to a staredown. If that white Moth didn't have those mind cleansing powers, then I would have succeeded in my attack."
"The master of that white Moth just released us and gave you back to me. So don't try anything like that again."
"Show some respect to your superior! I will not bow down to those with weak wills like you."
"Would you give it a rest already with the Emperor's Haki bullshit?"
"NEVER!"
As the two argued internally, Albert and Rin curiously studied the Dumbo Octopus that had replaced Ben's head.
Albert. "How did you get an Octopus as a monster partner? I am certain that it isn't among the species available in the monster app."
Ben paused the internal argument and borrowed the Great Dreamer's telepathic powers to answer Albert's question.
Benjamin. "My first monster partner died to the Icebugs near Seward and decided it wanted to be something stronger in its second incarnation."
Albert. "Wow... I always wondered what telepathic communication would sound like, but this is a pretty amazing ability you have. Though you could try reducing the volume."
Benjamin. "I am still not used to talking to others like this, so forgive me if I sound a bit too loud."
Rin whispered into Albert's ears when she noticed they were silently communicating.
Albert. "I understand... Rin here is quite jealous of that skill. Does it translate it to any language like our Butlers?"
Benjamin. "Haven't tried it on a non-Enligh speaker before."
Albert. "Can you give it a try?"
Benjamin nods and then concentrates his focus on Rin's mind before asking a question in English. Rin smiled on her face when he heard the question and replied in Japanese.
Rin. "I can hear your voice in Japanese."
Ben. "Albert, it seems the telepathic communication has an auto-translate."
Albert. "Can you add me into your conversation with Rin?"
Benjamin obliged, and soon the three of them exchanged pleasantries before Albert asked a Question.
Albert. "Can you hear the thoughts of others in the stadium without them knowing about it?"
Rin. "Can you let us listen in as well?"
Benjamin. "You want me to go, Professor Xavier on everyone?"
Albert. "Just asking if it is possible."
Benjamin asked the Great Dreamer he had that kind of power, but all he got was 'depends on your own mental strength' as a reply.
Ben then focused on the Marines organizing the hundred and seventy plus survivors in the stadium into several lines, slowly guided into the passenger transport JTD one at a time. Ben selects the leader of the Marines as the first target to mentally eavesdrop on.
Captain Razack. "I can't believe this ridiculous gear worked on the Bugs. If those Tamer back at HQ can mass-produce this shit, then the US Army will be back in action."
Ben then selects the Chinese Tamer who arrived with the EVAC team.
Lang Chi. "I can't wait to report to Chairman Zao about what happened here. I hope he will grant me the nickname 'Wolf God.'"
Ben then moves onto a woman with a Seal Dragon by her feet and two bunnies on her shoulders.
Selvaria. "Why did they all ignore me when I said I am from the moon? Do they not believe me, or is it... wait! who is listening to my thoughts?"
Ben pulled back his focus on her while Albert and Rin had stunned expressions on their faces as Selvaria rushed over to them. She points her index finger at Ben and asks a question with her mind.
Selvaria. "You! Why were you trying to read my thoughts?"
Ben. "I..."
Ben spent the next two minutes answering her questions before Albert interrupted them.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Albert. "I want to know how you found out when the others didn't."
Selvaria. "If you know that I am from Vector, then that shouldn't be a surprise."
Albert. "Are you saying they found a way to make people talk with their minds?"
Selvaria. "Classified."
Albert. "Is that all we get from you?"
Selvaria. "I am not allowed to divulge our body and mental enhancements to those from Earth. Try to understand my position."
Albert. "Were you serious about being an Admiral in the MSDF? How come you didn't share this info when you joined us here?"
Selvaria. "Yes, I am an Admiral on an asset acquirement mission. Normally I am in charge of the navy. If you follow politics, you should know Vector is viewed as a rogue nation by your old governments. But right now, the UGP is the only power capable of helping me get back to the moon, so I decided to break infiltration protocol and reveal my identity."
Rin. "What was the asset you were meant to acquire?"
Selvaria. "These two."
She patted the heads of the two bunnies on her shoulders and then explained in detail what made them special.
Ben. "They sent an Admiral to get pets?"
Selvaria. "I had the most experience in blending in with your people. The others never get a chance to leave the moon to study Earth IRL. So they rely on Flashpods to teach them your society, religions, tactics, and views."
Ben. "What about the Humans who were originally from Earth?"
Selvaria. "They are all gone. I am one of the last Earth Born on the moon."
Ben. "Can you explain how that happened? I know that the first ships to the moon left Earth over forty years ago, so how are you among the last?"
Selvaria. "Though we are rich in asteroid resources, our government decided that we must extinguish ourselves after reaching the age of sixty. There are some exceptions to reduce the burden on the younger generations, though. Military Vets, teachers, technicians, and those who have gone above and beyond for our society can live out their days."
Albert. "Fuck me! That's a brutal society, no wonder the governments call it a rogue nation."
Ben. "Are they coming to Earth to help us anytime soon?"
Selvaria. "This monster invasion has nothing to to do with the moon as far as I am aware unless the monsters are capable of space flight. However, they will come for me if I get their attention, so I will help you until then."
Albert. "You said your mental abilities are classified before. Can you at least tell us if you have the same skills as Ben?"
Selvaria. "My mind is more sensitive, but I cannot read other thoughts.... wait! I need you to read someone's mind for me."
Ben. "Who are you talking about?"
Selvaria. "The man in the black hoodie and neon green jeans standing near the Icebug corpses by the Cargo JTD."
Ben looked around the area she pointed out. In their combat styles, Tamers were dragging the body parts of those they termed as Bug Commanders into the JTD along with the hundred-ton mound of Icebug corpses that Albert used his necromancy skills to bring into the stadium. Next, Ben found Selvaria's target and focused his mind on listening in on his thoughts. There were several voices inside the man's head, to his surprise.
"I am telling you that Woman with the Bunnies on her shoulders was staring at us! I think she knows what we are!"
"Quit panicking over her! You have to admit we look suspicious with the hoodie and these disgusting jeans."
"But the guy she is talking to has the egg we are looking for!"
"Should we attack them and grab the Bug bitch's precious egg?"
"Why? We know where it is going to end up, right?"
"That's brilliant! Get on the transport and wait for her group to bring the egg to us."
"Once we break our cover, all those people will come after us."
"We can use our Toxic gas skill to escape."
"But that would kill everyone who breathes it in."
"I don't like killing innocents."
"Says the serial killer."
"I killed those who deserved it."
"Fucker! We have been here for four days. Don't tell me none of these people deserve it."
"I admit there are a few dozen of them who need to die..."
"We are not human anymore, so why hesitate?"
"Its' not about being human, I have a code, and you people are messing with it."
"Fuck all that! How about we just join them and go to their HQ?"
"Huh? What brought that up?"
"Did you forget? The military will launch three city killer missiles after the Evac is done. So let's use this chance to get out of this place before we get vaporized."
"You know that Bug bitch will take over our body if we try to escape."
"I doubt she has the strength to subdue all of us right now. The other Chimeras were slaughtered by the new Tamers, and half her swarm has been decimated by Ajax."
"Right, her willpower is only as strong as the size of her swarm."
"We should escape while we can."
"I didn't sign up for a life of servitude, not to mention sharing a body with ten others."
"Are you people insane! The Tamers will kill us if they find out what we are."
"We can try to reason with them once we reach Alaska. We have a human body... just a lot of souls in it."
"Do you think they will accept us and let us walk around their base? Instead, they will put us in a lab, torture, dissect or lock us up for study."
"She does have a point..."
"I have no desire to be locked up. How about we sabotage the plane once we escape the blast radius?"
"Oh, I like where this is going."
"So we act natural, get on the plane, and then force it to land in the wilderness before using our skills to escape?"
"Works for me!"
"Acting natural will attract attention."
"I meant, act like one of them!"
"Are we abandoning the Egg?"
"Who cares what happens to it?"
"That thing is supposed to make more Chimeras like us, right?"
"More stable types with one soul as far as I remember."
"We won't survive on our own out there, so why don't we grab it, hatch it and create our own army of Chimeras?"
"Can we raise the new Queen to be obedient to us?"
"Who says she has to do it willingly? I want payback for what her mother turned us into."
"Making more Chimeras will require her to eat a lot of Tamers."
"Well, we are going to bring down a plane with a lot of Tamers. So why don't we make use of them."
"Why are you all so bent on killing people? The Serial Killer seems to be the most stable one out of everyone here."
"That is because I have a code. You lot just want to see the world burn."
"I was literally burned alive and eaten by the Queen. So seeing the world burn is something I don't mind."
"Oh shut up! We all know how we all got killed and ended up here. The point is whether we kill these people or not."
As the ten souls kept arguing, Selvaria, Ben, Albert, and Rin stood dumbfounded by the revelation they had just heard.
Selvaria. "I am going to kill that freakshow!"
