"Agh!" Mindy fell to the ground. "Mistress!" A beast made up of teeth stared at Mindy, a feeling of blissful rage emanating off of it. Nebula stood up, summoning ice from the ground. It wrapped around the beast, freezing it in place. It squirmed and shrieked as Mindy slowly picked herself up and charged forward, summoning flame from her hand and turning the head of the creature into ash. "Mindy?" Nebula wrapped her friend's arm around her neck. "Thanks. Take a picture to show Monika." Nebula tapped a few windows Mindy couldn't see and then nodded. "Alright. Let's get out of here.
…
"Done." Mindy handed Monika a stack of papers and sent her proof of completion for each. "Mindy, I think you need to relax some." Monika suggested, her concern clear. "Why? Not my fault nobody else has their energy today " "That's not what I mean." Monika took the stack of papers and brought out her rewards. "I think what your doing is unhealthy." Mindy scoffed at her assertion. "It's perfectly healthy! Who are you to tell me what is and isn't-" Monika slammed her desk, cutting Mindy short. "I am you personal advisor. When I tell you the actions your taking are unhealthy, you hear me out. My JOB is to make sure you don't get killed. Do you understand?" Mindy rolled her eyes, nodding her head. "Good. Now take your rewards and go relax." Monika sat back in her chair, moving to look through some paperwork. Mindy exited the building, finding Nebula standing on the hand rail. "Showoff." Mindy joked. Nebula hopped down. "So, where to now?" Mindy stroked her chin. "I'm hungry." "Yeah, same." Mindy chuckled at her friend. "How many years has it been since you last ate something?" Nebula counted on her fingers. "Ten, I guess." "Yeah, that sounds right." They make their way down the road. "Here should be fine." The two entered a random cafe, practically empty, save for a man washing the counter. "Ah, what can I do for you?" Mindy looked over the small menu above him. "Number 8." The man nodded and went to work, grabbing the turkey. The two girls sat at a close by table. "Alright, so, how's life going?" Nebula asked. "You're there for most of it." "The parts I'm not?" "Fine, I guess." Nebula grinned. "How about that boy that's been following you around?" Mindy chuckled. "I haven't told you yet? Okay, so, he's a support type. There." Nebula cocked her head. "That's pretty rare. But, that can't be all." "He can see his future or something like that. After I convince him to be my partner, though, I imagine there will be a way to get past that." Mindy responded. "That makes sense. I mean, a powerful support type can even take down an A rank monster by themselves. He around your pinkie finger yet?" Mindy laughed. "He's absolutely smitten with me. A few more friendly smiles and he's mine." Nebula looked away for a moment. "Well, it seems your doing well. I thought there would be more trouble in a low rank town like this. I still think you should move back to Quillston. There, at least police give a shit about protecting their people." Mindy nodded along. "Not a chance in hell." Nebula sighed. "Come on, Mindy, you can't still be mad about that one asshole. Look, he's gone, and everyone else is ready to apologize." "Nebula, drop it." Mindy warned. "Fine, stay in Rickton. Just know, they're eventually going to label you a traitor, and then you're screwed." Mindy rolled her eyes. "What are they gonna do? Kill me?" Nebula looked down. "Hey, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to worry you, I promise. I just can't stay in a place where people like him are held in high regard. You know he isn't the only one like that." Nebula gave a heavy sigh. "You're right. I just have to worry if you won't." Mindy grabbed her friends shoulder and flashed a genuine smile. Nebula gave her one back.
