Chapter 2: Psyche

"I'm sure you've heard about my punishment, yes?" Rebbecca's voice sliced through the dimness of the hallway as her shoes made a loud 'knocking' sound on the hard marble floor as she began to walk beside Felona, her eyes glowing with an intensity that made Felona's heart race. Her smile seemed to illuminate the shadows around them, casting an eerie glow against the walls.

"Yeah... I, um, came to help pack your bags since you're going east of here..." Felona's words faltered as she covertly jotted down notes in her pocket-sized notebook, the dim light barely illuminating her trembling hands. She fluttered her eyes around her, mainly to her right to see her surroundings as she walked...and to watch out for the cra-misses wandering eyes. Though there in the dim darkness, you can always be safe than sorry.

As Rebbecca suddenly halted, Felona too stopped awkwardly as she was forced to look into those dark eyes of her's, Rebbecca's gaze bore into Felona with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine. "What are you writing down?" Her tone was calm, but there was a hint of something darker lurking beneath the surface.

Caught off guard, Felona hastily closed her notebook, the dimness of the hallway providing little solace from Rebbecca's penetrating stare. "Nothing! I swear!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing softly against the walls as she waved her arms in a futile attempt to deflect Rebbecca's scrutiny.

She clicked her tongue towards herself noticing how she blatantly lied about something so obvious, now she seems suspicious to her! Was it the nerves getting to her? Of course it was! Every second she's with this psy-girl...it feels like each and every action, good or bad, could lead to a consequence she would always be at the short end of. She wants to put on a front acting all high and mighty...but the way she's acting currently just puts her off course...way off.

As Rebbecca's unnaturally wide smile, laced with an unsettling darkness, remained fixed on her face, the dimness of the hallway seemed to wrap them in a suffocating embrace. Each step Felona took felt like navigating through a treacherous minefield, every movement fraught with uncertainty and foreboding. With every stride, disturbing stories flooded Felona's thoughts.

Tales of the girl gleefully bonding with a newly hired maid specifically came to mind, the maid oblivious to the potential peril concealed behind Rebbecca's charming facade. The innocence reflected in her brown eyes had captivated the maid, drawing her closer to the enigmatic girl.

Felona's gaze fell upon an overlooked patch of the wall, shunned by all who traversed the hallway. Her mind drifted back to a specific memory, recalling the account of a naïve and, in her personal opinion, imprudent woman who had taken the young Rebbecca to tend to the garden's flowers when she was just 8 years old, back when the troubling symptoms were just beginning to surface.

The maid took a sharp scissor used to trim bushes. Rebbecca then began to ask many questions about different types of plants, what their uses is, what they could be used for, the seeds too! When Felona heard this story for the first time she herself questioned why in the world would an 8 year old want to know the details of that? But she kept on listening to the story and calmed her thoughts.

The stupid and naïve maid was so happy that she put the scissors in her skirt pocket and carried the young girl in her arms to bring her to her parents so that they could possibly discuss having her be taught about botany on a more scholastic level.

There, in the story the other maids was telling, in Felona's head she guessed the maid was from some farmer's family, like she personally was. Who in the world would love plants so much like that to want a child to learn it? A poor low-class woman in the great kingdom of Patmonia. As she walked from the backyard and into the manor.

She was walking alongside the dull walls in the very hallway Felona is walking right this moment. All of a sudden the serene scene turned into one of pure carnage...Rebbecca screamed so loud it shocked the maid into a frenzy. The maids frantically put the child down to see if there were any injuries on her body and asked what was wrong, but Rebbecca got louder. This made the other maids and butlers rush to the scene immediately.

The maid who was carrying her was in complete shock in not knowing what to do, or how to go about calming the child when she saw nothing wrong. Only until that thought raced in her mind Rebbecca quickly rammed her head in the wall...hard! She screamed 'stop!' and 'no!' all while banging her head in the wooden wall. Felona stopped her walk in mid-thought and looked at the wall herself, the dent was still there.

The maid got close to her and hugged her, wooing her to calm down and that everything was going to be alright. Heh, really now? The people who were telling the story to Felona took a huge pause-5 minutes purely because they started shaking, hell some even got out the changing room they were in need-a strong desire to just to get fresh air and ball there eyes out.

The moment the naive maid opened her eyes to see no tears at all falling from Rebbecca, that was the moment she saw a smirk, so did the maids and butlers present. You would think a child who violently banged there head on a wall would cry, but her face was dry. She had in her hands the scissors that the maid was using to trim the bushes, somehow? The maids and butlers too were confused because...how did the girl reach around her body like that? And since when did she get it? She hugged the maid but her arms were visually around her back, not her hips.

She took the scissor and decided that looking at her face was a sin. Rebbecca looked for maybe a minute at the maid. Her eyes were twitching, so were her legs. Then, out of nowhere the maid took a step forward wanting to talk to Rebbecca, mainly getting those scissors.

In such a quick thrust, the sharp edge of the scissor took aim at the left eye of the maid. The maid had such a horrid screech of pain and agony as she fell back on the floor wriggling on the floor like a mad man. That wasn't enough for the 8 year old, this was fun! Actual excitement! The maids telling the story swore to the very gods above the girl had spaced out eyes, her smile was from ear to ear as she had her mouth wide opened. Blood in a dark color squirted out of the eye as she flailed in her small pool of her own blood.

She screamed and shouted, asking for help. Laughing maniacally, Rebbecca walked up to the maid and took the scissor out of the socket and threw it at the leg of one of the approaching butlers. She kept on saying ,'This was needed due to your injuries' over and over again.

Then Rebbecca climbed on the woman and held her head down. The maid tried to stop her from touching even an inch of her skin but Rebbecca gripped her skull and banged it repeatedly on the cold hard floor. After about 3 minutes, she opened her mouth and bit down on the wound...teeth to skin, tongue tasting the warm rich blood.

The maids there tried to pull the girl off the maid, but only in there imagination...in reality they all stayed there and watched the girl eat the woman. The screams never stopped, neither did the laughing. The munching of bone and the swallowing of the flesh was something they couldn't tune out. The way she swallowed the meat down her throat and wanted more was something they never saw a human, let alone a child ever do before. Maybe it was shock? But even with that why was no one stopping the girl? That's a question that's soon to get an answer.

Then what happened next made Felona even more scared for her own life, the girl took the knife and cut the flesh off to expose the bone, by then the screaming stopped. When the bone was exposed Rebbecca stabbed it over and over again.

She got to the brain and with her bare hands squished it like she was making hamburger patties. Hearing this Felona threw up a bit, she was so shocked that in the moment she wanted to risk death and her family's own, purely out of fear and run away, far away from that monster. They didn't stop telling the story neither, which only made things even worse for Felona.

The maids screamed for help as they saw in the girls eyes pure hatred. That innocent smile came back that moment, the eyes went normal and she sat there, licking her lips. Then...she played with the body like a doll. She named it, and even in vision...no deluded herself into thinking that was an actual doll...and the maid she just ate would come and play, while smiling. She was around where the maid went, because she wanted to play with the doll.

Felona looked at the place the maids pointed to as they told her the story, and how everyone, including the parents who apparently were there too...felt a level of guilt within them. And to her luck shes the 'new personal maid! YAY!!' The parents were there the whole time, watching their daughter consume a human and all.

But, since there of higher standing, replacing a maid like her was as easy as breathing, maybe that's their own way of blocking out the guilt of inhabiting a psycho.

She shook her head and continued walking keeping up pace with Rebbecca, she wanted to calm down, usually she would think about things like that and how this hierarchy stuff went on in the kingdom, but to actually use a death that...graphic to justify your daughters insanity? Now you want to deal with it because of your status being affected primarily by her? And she has to deal with it too? Sighing Felona scrunched the temples off her head... her mistress and new life is like the flickering of a torch, it sways left to right easily.

As they walked down the halls, they passed by maids and butlers, Felona couldn't help but feel a sense of unease creeping over her. The dimness of the hallway seemed to amplify their hesitancy, their gazes flickering nervously as they acknowledged Rebbecca's presence with a mixture of fear and deference.

Felona couldn't blame them. The personal here is like a pigs pen, any time of any day they could see the netherworld like a snap of a finger, hell even in there sleep! Felona shook her head again, the stories she heard would make you want to kill your own self.

Felona looked at Rebbecca, seeing her face having a blank expression, her eyes looked around the hallway, not even giving a second glance at the people that bowed or greeted her. 'Seems she don't care about them...or anything for that matter, well I'm sure that's how she feels, I can't even imagine how she must feel, her family practically abandoning her to an insane asylum.' Felona thought as she stopped in front of the door, she turned around and saw Rebbecca with a wide...very odd smile on her face.

Rebbecca put both her hands on her sand toned skin and sighed. "Finally! We're here! Felona please open the door" Rebbecca said as she stepped to the side. Felona nodded her head and opened the door revealing a beautiful room with white walls, a red rug that covered the whole room, a bed with a dark green cover that matched the color of the pillows.

As Rebbecca moved through the room with an air of detached indifference, Felona couldn't help but feel a pang of self preservation for her soul, being alone with this demon, anybody would. And like clockwork. Rebbecca stopped moving and stood at the edge of her bed. She turned her head towards Felona, that uncanny smile plastered on her face

But as Felona watched Rebbecca's unnaturally wide smile, she knew that there was something far more sinister lurking beneath the surface. The brightness of the room did little to mask the darkness that lurks within Rebbecca's soul.

Next to the bed was a closet with clothes still hanging. The window gave a nice view of the forest outside, the light from the sun illuminating the room making it seem more welcoming. You could tell she don't even be in the room, its as if the room was still 'new' in terms of how unused everything was.

Felona walked inside and Rebbecca followed behind. Felona then turned around and clapped her hands, "Alright! Let's get packing! What would you like to bring?" she asked as she opened the closet and took out a few outfits. "Hmmm...would a patient, who's going to the east's, most finest~ Kogin asylum, wear such things as this?" Rebbecca asked as she lifted a beautiful red dress she never wore once in her life.

Felona was silent for a moment as she slowly turned around to see the girl looking at her. Felona looked down at the dress and laughed nervously. "Your the daughter of one of the Patmonian's best general, and the most influentail family of all Patmonia, even the royal family know of you and your family's name." Felona said as she gently placed the clothes down. She walked over to Rebbecca and put a hand on her shoulder.

Though this took every nerve in her living body to even do, she spoke. "Maybe they would let you have your choice of clothing?" She said trying to hide her shaky voice and hands with a warm smile, which is normal when dealing with a psycho who can all of a sudden go berserk. Rebbecca looked into Felonas eyes and then started chuckling softly, covering her small mouth with her right hand she giggled as she sat down, her abyssal like eyes never left Felona's hazel brown eyes.

"I-is there something wrong?!" Felona asked, her voice a bit louder than it should be. being on edge, when a psycho starts laughing all of a sudden, only God would know what schemes the crazy thinks about. Rebbecca simply shook her head 'no' and looked up at Felona. "No, you’re just...so...so interesting..." she said, her voice seeming to echo the room.

Felona gulped and looked at the girl, her face seemingly...calmer and less psychotic. 'Is being interesting to a homicidal psycho ok?' Felona thought to herself

Wait, no, what was she even thinking? Less psychotic? Pssh...the girl is a fucking psychopath! 100 percent! But then again...her smile seemed to be warm...and real. The way her eyes looked at her, were the same way when she first met her, before hearing the ominous stories. Besides the odd change of color, they had some, warmth in it? She couldn't tell you much about what she meant even if she was whipped a thousand times

. If anything it was like a mother’s gaze at a newborn, or like a big sister to the younger? That's as far as she can describe it. Sighing she went to the closet and pulled out several suitcases and bags, and walked out of the room.

"I'll uh, I-I'll be right back with a couple of maids to help us pack, okay?" she said as she walked towards the front door hastily but before she could reach freedom, Rebbecca spoke up. "Why need others to pack my things? Besides you, nobody else will be as useful!" she said standing up and walking towards Felona, the door still a couple of inches from her grasp.

Her back tensed up as she felt her breathing quicken, her body began to get sweaty as the air got hard to breathe, 'Dammit, tsk! I was so close! Fuck!!' she cursed in her head, she was so close! "Oh! I'm sorry misses!" Felona said bowing a little, as she slowly backed away from the door and walked back to Rebbecca who had her head tilted to the side with a soft smile.

"There we go~!" She said clapping her hands as if she had made a new discovery. Felona right now wanted to jump out of a window, but she took deep breaths, self control is needed at a time like this! Rebbecca still smiling hummed a song that Felona heard for the first time, as she walked to the closest and sighed.

"Say...Felona dear~?" "Y-yes?" Felona replied, still keeping a good distance between the two of them. "Did my father... or mother...give me anything as a 'going away' gift~?" she said walking over to her suitcase with arms full of different dresses, skirts and leggings. "Um, no, not that I heard, but maybe I just wasn't told" she replied with a shaky voice. Rebbecca had a smile on her face as she hummed a song.

"Oh~? No gifts? Nothing for a child going away for such a long time?" She asked, her voice echoing around the room as Felona stood there with a worried look, Rebbecca stood up and walked over to a bookshelf filled with many things and looked at the titles, "How sad..." She said running her fingers down the spines of the books as she walked across the shelf "To think my beloved parents...wouldn't give there only daughter an away gift"

She said as her voice dropped low. "If I was my brother however..." She eyed Felona with her abyssal eyes as She stood there in awe. Felona blinked her eyes and came out of her worried daze as she made a couple mental notes to write down.

Going over to the closet picking up some shoes, she replied with a shaky voice. "U-um, why do you say that?" She asked with curiosity and fear. Rebbecca turned her head and giggled. "Because dear brother, he is the pride of our family, after father of course-following the same footsteps he went on, even his magic and swordsmanship is on par with many valiant warriors of old. Even if i wasn't born with magic...I would still try to make my parents...happy"

Rebbecca said in a sweet and sickeningly fake tone with a hint of sarcasm mixed in. Felona only gulped as she continued picking up a couple shoes and neatly stuffing them in a brown briefcase. 'Since when was she this...mature?' she asked herself as she heard Rebbecca walk towards the other side of the bed, the closet was across from her bed and Felona had all her clothes with her.

Felona couldn't tell if this was her true colors coming out, or just some elaborate scheme to gain trust from her, well whatever it is, this psycho is still a psycho, she's just very cunning.

Rebbecca looked over her shoulder as she picked out several dresses. "So...since we're getting along well, why don't I ask a couple questions, dear?~" Felona gulped and continued putting on some dresses in a suitcase. "Sure..." She said trying not to sound nervous, Rebbecca chuckled. "Excellent!" she said clapping her hands with excitement. Her gaze narrowed as that awkward smile came about
