Prologue!!

Ren Tsurugi** awakens in Varenheim Academy, a prestigious institution floating in the heart of a magical realm known as the Five Realms. Struggling with fragmented memories and a weak start, Ren discovers that he is no ordinary student—he is a reincarnated soul with immense, untapped potential.

In a world where magic is woven from the fabric of consciousness itself, Ren must master the complex art of Consciousness Weaving. As he navigates the academy’s treacherous waters, he uncovers ancient secrets, hidden powers, and a dark past that binds him to a fate beyond his wildest fears.

The academy, a beacon of magical learning and intrigue, hides more than just academic challenges. Political rivalries, secret societies, and forgotten artifacts create a dangerous landscape where Ren must grow from a novice into a formidable mage.

Each step Ren takes reveals more about his mysterious past lives and the true nature of his powers. With every revelation, he faces high-stakes conflicts that test his resolve and push him towards a destiny that could either break the chains of his past or seal his fate as the ultimate prisoner.

Ren Tsurugi’s first memory was of drowning.

Cold water pulled him under, a darkness so thick that it choked every breath. The world spun as his body thrashed in vain, sinking deeper into oblivion. Just as his vision dimmed, a voice pierced the void, whispering ancient, forgotten words that felt familiar yet impossible to grasp.

“You do not belong here, yet here you are.”

Ren's eyes snapped open.

He was lying on solid ground now, surrounded by a sky that shimmered with streaks of violet and crimson. The horizon bent unnaturally, jagged mountain peaks floating in midair like fragments of a shattered mirror. It was a world both alien and familiar. His clothes were drenched, but he no longer felt the cold. He didn’t even feel the weight of his own body.

Ren groaned, forcing himself upright. The pain in his chest was real enough, as if the drowning had left a permanent mark. But there were no wounds. No river. No explanation. His hands trembled as he wiped his face, staring at the unfamiliar lines etched into his skin. They glowed faintly, pulsing with energy he couldn’t yet comprehend.

“Where… am I?” His voice echoed strangely, as though the land itself was listening.

A silhouette appeared at the edge of the horizon—a tall figure, clad in flowing robes that seemed to be woven from the very essence of the universe. The figure approached, and Ren instinctively stepped back, though he had no energy to run.

“Ren Tsurugi,” the figure’s voice was neither male nor female, cold but laced with an uncanny familiarity. “You have been chosen.”

“Chosen? Chosen for what?” Ren demanded, though his voice shook. The figure stopped a mere step away, towering over him. A mask covered their face, its smooth surface reflecting Ren’s wide, confused eyes.

“To remember. And to forget.”

With a swift motion, the figure’s hand shot out, pressing against Ren’s forehead. A surge of pain—a flash of light—then memories, his memories, scattered like broken glass. Lives. Hundreds, no, thousands of them. Each one ending in fire, water, steel, and despair. A warrior. A scholar. A king. A servant. In each life, he was different, yet always the same. He had died, again and again, each time reborn into a new world, with new rules, new powers… but always a prisoner of something greater.

Then, one memory stood out—brighter, more visceral than the others.

A cage of light. And within, a screaming boy—Ren himself—bound in chains forged from his very soul. He couldn’t remember how he had ended up there, but the terror was unmistakable. That was his true self: imprisoned, forgotten, and now… freed?

The figure withdrew their hand, leaving Ren gasping on the ground.

“You are the Mind Prisoner,” the figure intoned. “You have been sealed for reasons you cannot yet understand. But now… it is time for you to break free. Your journey begins anew.”

With those words, the world around him shattered. Pieces of sky, land, and air crumbled away, leaving Ren falling into an endless abyss. And as he fell, he could feel it—the power inside him, a raw, untapped force that had been locked away for eons. His past lives surged within him, a chorus of voices all screaming to be heard.

But he wasn’t ready. Not yet.

He hit the ground with a thud, pain searing through his body.

This time, when his eyes opened, he was in a new world.
