Chapter 5: Into the Void

Jin-woo stood in the cold, dimly lit room, his fingers brushing lightly against the edge of the table. He couldn't shake the image of Seojin’s face—the disbelief, the fear, and the hope all mingling in her expression as she stepped into the rebellion. Now, standing before him was someone he hadn’t expected to meet—an enigma wrapped in black leather and mystery.

The leader of the rebellion, known only as The Oracle, was more intimidating than Jin-woo had anticipated. He was tall, his presence filling the room, with a commanding voice that seemed to resonate in the very air. His eyes locked onto Jin-woo, piercing through him as if reading every doubt, every fear he held.

“So,” The Oracle began, pacing slowly, “You’re the one who escaped the simulation.”

Jin-woo swallowed hard. He had never imagined himself in this position—standing amidst revolutionaries, facing the reality that the world he thought he knew was a lie. He was just an ordinary university student a few days ago, trying to balance part-time work and school. Now, he was part of something far beyond him.

“I… I didn’t ask for any of this,” Jin-woo finally muttered, his voice shaky but resolute.

“No one ever does,” The Oracle replied coolly, stopping in front of him. “But you’re important, Jin-woo. More important than you know.”

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Jin-woo blinked. “What do you mean?”

The Oracle leaned closer, eyes narrowing. “You were meant to remain asleep. Like the rest of them. But you woke up. And that, Jin-woo, was not supposed to happen. Someone—or something—has been looking for you.”

Fear crept up Jin-woo’s spine. He could feel the weight of the Oracle’s words settling deep in his chest. “Looking for me?”

“Agents.” The Oracle’s voice dropped lower. “They are hunting you as we speak. You’re a threat to the system, Jin-woo. They won’t stop until they capture you and erase you from existence.”

Jin-woo’s heart pounded in his ears. The walls of the room felt like they were closing in on him, his vision narrowing as the gravity of the situation sank in. He wasn’t just running from a broken system. He was a target, and the agents were relentless.

“What do I do?” Jin-woo asked, his voice barely a whisper.

The Oracle smiled—a grim, knowing smile. “You fight.”

The room fell silent, the weight of the rebellion pressing down on Jin-woo’s shoulders. Outside the window, the darkened city stretched endlessly, a stark reminder of the dystopia they were trapped in. Jin-woo turned to Seojin, who stood quietly by his side. Her eyes met his, offering a moment of silent solidarity.

“I’ll help you,” Seojin said, her voice soft but determined. “We’ll figure this out together.”

Jin-woo’s chest tightened, but he nodded. He had no other choice. Together, they would face the looming threat of the agents, unravel the mysteries of the simulation, and somehow find a way to survive.

But even as they prepared to fight, Jin-woo couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something much larger at play—something even The Oracle wasn’t telling him.
