Mazikeen felt like she was having just the absolute best day ever. They had finally found her love. Their Leader said he was disconnected from his power on some backwater non-magical low-tech world. She wasn't sure what he was doing here in this odd RV park, but she was EXCITED to see him.
The information she had received said that he wouldn't have any prior memories of himself. This little tidbit of knowledge excited her even more. She squealed internally at the thought. They could start over, and this time she could finally show him how much she loved him. The Leader had promised her that she would be responsible for him.
Oh, what a gift the Leader has given me.
She had been head over heels for her love since childhood on their home plane. Of course, he was a few years older than her, which she thought was only proper. They had started their climb to ascension at the same time in school. Everything had been going perfectly until, for some reason, he no longer smiled at her and became distant. She didn't understand why. This had happened around the time when she had stepped beyond the mortal realm in her ascension. That step hadn't exactly gone the way she had calculated, but deviant variables happened in even the most well thought out experiments especially in that stage. That no longer mattered now, though, because she could start over. The excitement just made her want to smile and skip. So that's exactly what she started doing.
She really wished she didn't have to work with Karen and her "pet," though. She honestly disliked the woman immensely, and her path was disgusting, but she wasn't going to let having to work with her ruin her excitement. He was here somewhere in one of these RV's. According to reports, they had pinpointed this as the likely place he was hiding. They had also felt the surge of someone's presence in this area. She had waited so long for an opportunity like this. He was without power, and his wives tied up in another plane thanks to some of her expert planning. She would steal him away, and they would fall in love. He would love her this time. She would show her devotion to him, and he would choose her.
Karen's "pet" set fire to the RV beside the trio as Mazikeen was lost in her thoughts. A loud roar came from ahead of her off to the right. The collard man fell backward, clutching his chest in a groan. She immediately threw up a barrier around them. Karen walked over and kicked her "pet," hissing, "Get up, dog!" But Mazikeen had stopped paying attention to her. She thought she had seen someone behind that vehicle in front of them.
"Karen, I think I saw someone over by that vehicle. But I'm no—"Mazikeen was cut off as a man stood up and threw something their way. It hit the barrier and bounced off. She started at the grenade as it exploded, barely draining any energy from the shield around them. Karen then reached out her hand and snatched the vehicle in her power as the man peaked around the end of it.
Oh, he is cute. I think I'll play with him. It has been a while since I've gotten to cut loose.
Mazikeen saw that the man was trying to raise his primitive weapon towards her, and she reached out with her will and surrounded him. She shook her finger at him for being a naughty little boy and said, "None of that now." She started skipping towards the man. She couldn't help it. She was just in such a fantastic mood.
Mazikeen considered the man as she made her way over to him. She thought he felt very familiar, but she couldn't place him. She could only get a vague sense of his soul. His body was definitely mortal and untouched by a path. Any path left a mark on someone's soul and could only be hidden, which would be more of an absence of anything. This man just felt like a mortal, but his soul felt exceptionally strong to have never touched a path.
Maybe he obtained some type of enlightenment at some point in his life. It wasn't Unity or a full soul forging, though.
She of course knew of the old ways of gaining enlightenment to strengthen the soul and mind but other more advance ways had been developed through research.
No matter, I'll just play with him for a bit while they search for my love. It's funny to watch them squirm.
Mazikeen knew how her "assets" affected men, and she did ever so delight in playing with the mortals when she had the chance. She stopped in front of him. Taking in his appearance, she said, "And who might you be? Oh, you're handsome, mmm… yummy!" She then made a chomping bite at him.
Mazikeen then commanded her will to rip the toys the man was wearing off and started rubbing a hand down his chest. He wasn't muscular like her love was but what muscle he did have was very solid. She cupped his chin, then said, "And fit as well." She giggled internally as she watched him panic.
It's just so easy to confuse them. Men are such little frightened lambs in the face of a truly aggressive woman. I must not lose practice for my love. I'm sure he won't mind if I play a bit more. I would never betray him, but that doesn't mean I can't flirt when I want.
Mazikeen looked down at the man's pants and saw she hadn't lost her touch. She made a face to let him know that she was fake surprised, and delighted at the same time. She started popping the buttons off his shirt as she rubbed the fit man's body. She wondered if the mortal would pass out from the whole experience.
She looked him in the eyes as she ran her hand down his chest. She scraped his chest with one finger, drawing blood. Mazikeen leaned in and took in a deep breath through her nose, taking in his scent. He smelled amazing. A mix of panic, fear, and lust. Oh, how she loved that mixture.
"You smell absolutely delicious." She said softly in his ear.
Now for my final act. This one always messes with their psyche the most.
She ran one hand down towards his happy little partner and brought her blood-covered finger to her mouth, and started sucking the blood off in a way that she knew the man wished she would do with him. She then gave him the most wicked smile she could give.
Aaaannnd yep there it is. He is entirely convinced I'm crazy. I am, of course, but not in the way he thinks I am.
People always miss understood her. She wasn't ditzy or daft. She just didn't give a shit about what others thought of her. Mazikeen did want she wanted when she wanted, and everyone else could go take a flying leap for all she cared.
Mazikeen felt two hostile presences appear behind her, and she snapped around to the threat. That's when she saw Avaya and Doritha staring at her. She could feel the murderous intent as she looked into their eyes from inside one of the RV's.
Damn, how were they here, and why are they acting so hostile. They can't do anything to me here.
She had been positive they were not on this plane.
I had made sure of it, and I even checked the ways before coming here. They are trying to stop me from retaking my love. Why do they always do this to me? Was it not enough that they had swooped in and stole him away from me. Then they actively kept me away from him every time I tried to speak with him. I had him first. He was my love first, and now they are doing it again. Whyyyyy!
The side of the RV blew out, and Avaya started stomping towards Mazikeen. She didn't care, though. She was just upset that she wasn't going to get to see her love. She couldn't overpower Avaya or Doritha. The two had achieved full Unity with their paths. Mazikeen had been stuck in the same place for over a thousand years, and could never fully sync with her path to achieve Unity. The power gap between someone who had touched a path, and someone who had achieved Unity was large, but not unassailable. But against these women, two on one she would lose every time. Probably one on one if she was honest with herself. She felt helpless about the situation.
I was so close to seeing him again and touching him. How will I ever convince him to love me if these two bitchs always cock block me? Why are they even mad at me anyway. I technically haven't touched him or even seen him for that matter. Here she goes stomping the air like the cunt she is. Always being a showoff.
"YOU DARE MAZIKEEN, YOU DARE TO TOUCH MY HUSBAND!!!" Said Avaya in a clearly will enforced voice. Gods how Mazikeen loathed this woman.
Like, who was she trying to impress? The mortal behind me? What a joke. She could save the parlor tricks for someone else. Wait, what did she just say? Husband? She hadn't seen her love anywhere.
Mazikeen looked back at the mortal she had been playing within confusion. She reached out with her presence to really look at the man's soul, and then she saw it. Oh, it was cleverly done, but there was no mistaking it. Two silky invisible to the eye, thin lines of soul, were floating out from him, going into some type of micro spacial holes. She grazed the threads, and she felt his mantle. It was faint, but it was most definitely her loves mantle. She would never forget his power. She had been there when he ascended.
She didn't know what to say because she was in such a shock. She blurted out something stupid, "Ahh, it is you. You're the one we are here for."
Great now I sound like a villain. Just fucking great. I had my love in my hands, and I didn't immediately disappear with him like I should have. How was I supposed to know that was him. I had to really look to find those threads tethered to him. AHHHurghhhh dammit. Why does this always happen to me and with the same snotty bitchs to boot? Fine, she can kiss my ass.
"Your husband seems to enjoy my touch and always has," she said with a smirk looking back at Avaya.
Oh, how I loath the woman. It's not jealousy… well, it's mostly not jealousy. Actually, it's all jealousy. It's not fair that she gets him all to herself when I can't even talk to him. I have known him longer. I have loved him longer. This hussy just shows up, and he falls in love with her while barely even talking to me anymore.
"How many times have I warned you, Mazikeen? How many times have I told you what I would do to you if I caught you near him again."
"I don't fear you, Avaya. The accords prevent you from doing anything to me here." Mazikeen sneered back.
"I warned you, and you didn't heed my words." as a vicious smile spread across her face. "And I didn't enter this plane through the ways."
Mazikeen stiffened, and she started to feel a little panic surge over her.
She can't break the rules, can she? No, there isn't a method. She has to be trying to scare me off.
"You lie. We are all bound by rules when we come to these planes." Mazikeen said, sneering.
"Shall we find out whose hands are tied, Mazikeen, the WHORE!"
Mazikeen was snatched up by an unseen force. She tried to move, but she knew she couldn't and wouldn't be able to break free.
"No, you can't. It isn't allowed, Avaya. Are you trying to start the war again?" said Mazikeen in a shaky voice that she hated herself for.
"I'm "technically" not here right now. Back door, you see," said Avaya with a clinical look coming over her face, and then Mazikeen knew nothing but pain as she started impacting the ground. She tried to hold on to her wits, but the impacts and pain caused her to lose consciousness.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
She came back to and heard Avaya talk to a man, but she didn't know who it was. "She touched you, Perrin…"
Ahh, his name is Perrin now…I like it.
She blacked out again and came to once more with Perrin shining a light into her eyes. The look of compassion that she had desperately craved to see again was clearly there in his eyes. The feeling overwhelmed her. He started to stand up, and she reached out to touch him before he left her side. She could only manage a small graze with her broken arm. She tried to say thank you, but it came out brokenly.
I was so close. So freaken close and now ….
Mazikeen closed her eyes and focused on healing her body as she faded in and out of consciousness. She felt intense pain from her internal injuries as someone picked her up, and then everything faded to black.
When she came to, she felt whole again, but she had a splitting headache. She sat up and started rubbing the side of her temple. She sensed something had been stripped away from her, but she wasn't sure what it was. All she knew right now was that her head felt like it had been kicked by some tiny angry god.
Hearing soft footsteps, she jerked her head to the sound and saw the mortal she had been playing with earlier. No, that's not right. He's not a mortal, but her love. She stared at him as her thoughts started running wild.
He looks so different than before. Though the longer I look at him, the more I can't believe I missed it. Yes, he lacks the physique his body would have before taking steps on his path, but there is no mistaking those eyes.
Why had she not noticed those eyes? They were one of her most favorite things she loved about him. The blue was so unique, and his gaze was so penetrating. She had not noticed any of this. But why?
He must have had some type of obscuring spell or soul trinket, maybe. It was probably Dio now that I think about it. Where is that little shit anyway? No matter. He doesn't seem to be around right now, so I'll worry about it later.
He spoke to her, and the voice was unmistakable. A ripple of pleasure rolled through her as she listened to him talk. It held such care and comfort. How long had it been? It had to have been thousands of years since his voice had possessed any care when speaking to her. She missed most of what he said except the last part.
"You aren't looking too good right now," Perrin said.
He doesn't think I look okay?
Confusion and panic started to well up in her as she pulled a silver hand mirror out of her inventory. She shrieked in horror. She looked like hammered shit. Like someone had placed a blood-filled balloon in her hands, and she had clapped them together. It covered almost every inch of her.
I have to getaway. My love can't see me like this. The last time he saw me in such a way, his looks had become cold and distant. Damn, where can I hide and clean myself up?
Mazikeen searched around frantically, trying to find a place to fix her appearance. Seeing an odd-looking pedestal, she hustled behind it out of his sight. She peeked her head around the edge of the pedestal and said, "Don't come over here." He made a placating gesture that she thought was sufficient and pulled her head back.
Ahhhhhh! Why does this happen to me? Every time I see him, something always goes so wrong.
Mazikeen leaned her back against the chill of the red stone and closed her eyes. She had been so close to snatching her love away and then… but where was she? She reached out with her presence to sense the surrounding chamber. As soon as it touched the archways, her eyes snapped open, and she retracted the tendrils of presence. Fear started to seep into her as she realized just how dangerous this place was. It had been some time since she had anything she truly needed to fear outside of other ascended, and there were very few of those who could actually pose a real threat. Whatever was inside these portals were ancient and powerful. She could feel the powers of chaos within the archways. She could tell they were contained, though.
Is this some type of prison? The demons of chaos had all been exterminated, I thought.
The creatures still gave her nightmares at times. They existed in-between planes of existence, or at least they had before her love, and their former companions had decided to clear them out to design the ways for stable travel between the planes. From what she could remember, they were a product of what was left after the act of creation. The chaotic powers floated around in the void, like a vast nebula still striving to create things. It wasn't always "demons," the chaotic nebula created. Sometimes it produced wonders beyond anything anyone could imagine. No one fully understood why the chaotic powers took the forms of demonic-like creatures, but nine times out of ten after the act of creation, they started appearing in the void.
Although they looked like hideous monsters of demonic evil, they actually weren't inherently evil in nature. They just weren't human in any way. The beings didn't think like any of the thousands of sentient races that existed across the planes. If she could sum them up in one word, it would be "alien."
I was there when we defeated the last of these creatures just prior to the ways stabilizing. Why would some be here? Did they trap them somehow? Maybe they wanted to study them. I shouldn't be surprised. My love never thought exterminating another race was ever the right answer to a problem. Still, he had participated in that venture when they became hostile to us, slipping between planes. Oh, Perrin, right, SHIT, okay Maze, you need to get your rear in gear and get presentable.
She gave a slight flex to her will, and the dried blood simply disappeared like it had never existed in the first place. She pulled out the mirror again and began fixing her make-up and hair. Once she was happy with her looks, Mazikeen decided that she wanted to look cute for her love, so she scrolled through her inventory, looking for the perfect pair of shoes to complete the look. Seeing a pair of all-white canvas lace-up sneakers, she switched them out in the inventory screen. She turned her legs side to side and decided they looked great.
Oh, I look so cute! He is going to love it. Okay, no one is around right now, Maze, so let's try to make a better impression than last time. Although he did respond to my playing. Uhmm, what to do, what to do. I'll wing it, I guess. How spontaneous of me.
Mazikeen snickered to herself as she stood up and walked from around the pedestal. She saw Perrin standing there in a suit that looked so good on him. The buttons she had popped off earlier left his toned chest, peeking out from his white office shirt.
He was, without a doubt, her love. She was still surprised by how she missed it. He was the same hight, hair was more shaggy but the same. His physique was just less godly, maybe. He looked more like a runner than the imposing warrior he had been. His name was different now, but it made sense that he would have a different one if he didn't have memories of his previous life.
All she could do was smile at him. There was no look of disgust or disdain in his eyes anymore like before. That filled her heart with such happiness. She thought she would just explode right here and now.
"All better now?" said Perrin.
Crap, what do I say to him. Uhm…*cough* "hi, my name is Mazikeen. I've loved you all my life. Please love me.." Yeah, that definitely isn't going to work. Damn, he always makes me this way. Okay, first things first though, I need to find out how long I have, and how I'm going to escape with him without getting caught. I don't see his wives anywhere, so that's a good thing, but that doesn't mean they aren't around where ever this is. Crap, I've just been staring at him like a creeper. Aaaakward…
"Where are we? And where is Avaya?" She said as innocently as she could.
He seemed to be thinking the questions over for a bit, but Mazikeen wasn't a fool. Something was up. She hadn't been able to spend more than a minute with him at a time since he married those unreasonable bitchs. To be honest, though, they weren't on the same side currently. Hell, she wouldn't even be on the other side if he hadn't rejected her. Then her path stopped progressing, and she had just been so frustrated and angry at him.
No matter Maze. You have a second chance, but first, we have to steal him away.
He finally spoke, saying, "Well, we are in my personal study currently. What do you remember?"
Mazikeen tilted her head ever so slightly to the side and continued to smile before she said, "I remember that I was sent to pick you up, and then…SHE showed up and ruined our fun." She then put on a cute pouty face to keep from spooking him and took a step towards Perrin. She could hear his heart starting to beat faster, and she smirked when he took a step back.
Oh, little mouse, you won't be getting away from me so easily.
"I also remember you were so sweet to me after Avaya was so mean." She said, and then the memory of what happened caused her to temporarily lose control of her emotions. Mazikeen was glad that she had caught it quickly. That fragile little shell he was currently in could be damaged if she lost control. She could tell that the restriction buffers were most certainly not in place anymore. She would have to be careful. Mazikeen put the cute pouty face on again and then took another step closer to him as she thought.
Hopefully, he missed that little temper tantrum. It does tell me something, though. I'm no longer on the same plane. Else that wouldn't have happened. Yes, I must be careful to not harm him.
He flicked his gaze back towards a golden door, and she couldn't help herself. She quick-stepped to within a few inches of him. She snickered internally as he started stammering when he turned around.
"So after I uh-uhm helped you, q-quite a few people showed up. Angels maybe? They looked like they were angels, and then these oddly dressed people started fighting with them. It got well, you know, pretty crazy. You uhm almost died again, I think, and uhm so I opened up my study and brought you with me to escape the craziness outside…"
Interesting, so Karen had signaled their back up. Of course, the Arbitrators would show up with that blatant use of power in a non-magical world. Big no no there.
The angelic's were easy enough to deal with one on one, but they were enforced and backed by both sides to keep the peace. The angelic are powerful beings in their own right. They were still conceited uppity douche bags in Mazikeen's opinion. They held to the Accords and followed them to the letter. If you broke even a little part of the Accords, you would be stuck with weeks of bureaucratic paperwork and hearings. They couldn't do anything to someone like her, but they could sanction the shit out of her and waste her time. That's why she still liked to beat on them every now and then when she got bored and didn't mind the hassle. Being virtually immortal tended to get boring.
I really need to find out if his wives are around. I still don't sense them though I'm not exactly trying to wave a flag that I'm here and awake either. It's honestly been too long. I'm actually starting to think they might not be here.
"Where's Avaya?" She said in a sweet and innocent voice as she grabbed a lock of her hair absentmindedly, twirling it around a finger. Mazikeen was reasonably sure that Avaya wasn't here. The thought excited her, and she couldn't stop the smile that came on to her face. She started tapping her bottom lip.
Perrin pointed down a hallway that Mazikeen hadn't previously noticed as he looked at the golden door that she was pretty confident it lead to a private pocket dimension. It was too out of place, and looked similar to other ones she'd seen the leader use. She didn't personally have one like this, but her laboratory was in something similar.
Perrin then said, "She's down that hallway over there." She turned towards the hallway and quick-stepped. She enjoyed using the technique because it was silent. It took her only a few moments to reach the end of the hallway and realize that he had pulled a fast one on her. Then she pushed her presence out, filling the hallway and the chamber with the archways.
There is no one here but him and me. The whole place is a pocket dimension. We are entirely alone.
She couldn't help it. She started giggling as she will enforced her voice and said, "Ohhh Perrin, Perrin, Perrin, Perrin, you naughty naughty boy. Avaya isn't here, is she? In fact, we are here all alone, aren't we?" The giggling and laughing sounded broken even to her, but she didn't care. She had him alone for the first time in eons.
She felt that he had open the door, but it didn't immediately close, so she quick-stepped back to the entrance of the chamber in seconds. He was standing in the doorway, sweat, and panic rolling off him. Their eyes met, and he froze in such a cute way that made her more primal instincts kick-in. "You don't know how to close it, do you?" And then she laughed because she knew she was right. She started stalking towards him. His hand was flailing around, trying to close the door. She figured that if he hadn't figured it out by now, then he probably wasn't going to.
Lords above, he's just so cute when he squirms like this. No worries, little mouse, I only bite when you ask me too.
Not that she had any experience doing anything like that as she had been saving herself for him since she was a teenager. But she'd read books and watch videos.
Perrin looked at her, and she paused her stalking as something had changed in his expression. His gaze devoured her in a way that sent her into a fit internally.
YEAAASSSSS! Finally.
His gaze stopped at her eyes and pierced her soul. Then he said, "Sorry, sweetheart. I need to close the study door." She saw his face widened into a big shit-eating grin as the door quickly snapped shut. She had already started speeding up her perception of time once she saw the edges coming into focus. She thought maybe she could make it, but Mazikeen realized it she had waited too long after the first step. She impacted with the now-closed golden door a fraction of a second later and started pounding on it in frustration. She paid little attention as the sound barrier made a sizable cracking noise followed by a pressure wave that washed around her due to her movement.
Why did I wait again? Dammit to hell. Ugh.
She raged out for a minute to make herself feel better, then stopped and plopped her butt down a meter from the remarkably undamaged closed door. She pushed her presence further out, still avoiding the portals but past the chamber itself. She felt absolutely nothing outside of this construct. That knowledge struck her.
There was no tether to anything anywhere. How would they get out without a guide or connection to the ways? Then a thought hit her.
If there are no connections, then that means he can't leave, and no one can come in. We really are alone here. Why would his wives allow something like this to happen, though? Actually, you know what, I don't give a shit. I have him to myself. It's fine.
Yes, it was perfectly fine. The door hadn't disappeared, and Perrin would have to exit from it eventually. Mazikeen could wait. Getting herself in the lotus position, she became like a statue. The serene stance was only slightly off due to the massive smile splitting her face.
Soon little mouse. Soon.
