In a world much like ours, a sudden transformation occurred. Suddenly and without warning, magic flooded society, and everything changed. No longer did our original laws of physics matter as new energies and particles spread across the universe. Thirteen years later, when the world had mostly recovered, a boy was born. This boy’s name was Alexander Galdur. His father, James Galdur, a light magician working for the Department of Magical Enforcement, and his mother, Daiyu Galdur, a part of the few people with no magic to speak of, lived peacefully in the city of Tulare in the New Magicians’ Society of America—the NMSA. One day, like any other, while the three were going back home in their car, tragedy struck. The Arcana Rights Organization, an active terrorist group working for the rights of the shunned and euthanized magicians of society, killed Daiyu and James. Alexander was forced into rehabilitation and orphanhood, but things only got worse from there. At the age of six, a time when magic began to manifest in a person, Alexander noticed oddities as he gained the ability to harness light magic. And dark magic. Now, with the world’s most loved and loathed magic types, he is forced to live in hiding and fear. That is, until one day, at the age of fifteen, Alexander finds a battle in the dark alleys of the city. Saving the victim of the ordeal with the help of magic, he sees that they are a member of the Depart of Magical Enforcement. Now, faced with the consequences of saving a DME member having seen their magic, Alexander is thrust into an entirely new world. In his highest peaks and lowest valleys, will Alexander choose to entrust himself to the euthanizing, dystopian government that keeps society running, join the terrorist-like organization that fights for people like him but killed his parents, or find another way through life, either having his wings melt in the heat of it all or soaring to new heights? Only time will tell.
