Book 1 Prologue: Birthday and Special

"Lalalalala~ Lalala~ Lalalala~" I sang to myself as I watered the tomatoes. Yup, they're looking nice and healthy as usual. I wonder how long it'll take before they grow up big and strong? The last batch took roughly...fourteen days?

I finished up my song just as I was done watering the whole garden, so I walked out of the room, making sure to sanitize myself in the particle deconstructor. These Microorganisms can be used elsewhere and definitely don't belong on other parts of the ship, that's for sure.

Enjoying myself, I hummed another tune, this one different from the previous one. Today was my birthday. This big boy turns a grand total of twenty years old! This'll mark my seven-thousand, three-hundred and fifth day alive!

It's really a shame that I don't have the proper ingredients to bake a cake here. Why didn't my parents give me a way to create every type of ingredient? I wish I could ask them.

I made my way to the command deck with a happy smile plastered across my face. Something about today felt special. Even more special than I am, which is saying a lot since I'm the last living human.

[Welcome back to the bridge, Captain Titus.] came a voice that filled the entire room.

"Thanks. Hey, Geoff, do you know what day it is?! Do you?!" while I asked this excitedly, I sat down on the command chair and got myself comfortable. The seats contrasted perfectly with my latex suit, fully exploiting the visual aesthetics of both, If I do say so myself.

[Of course. Today is Sir's birthday. Congratulations on turning twenty years old, Captain Titus. I'm sure your parents would be very proud.]

"Do you think? I hope so," I replied with a chipper tone while my hand gently caressed the picture frame of my mother and father which sat on the desk next to me. The two smartest mind's on planet Earth, and my parents. I couldn't be prouder of them, so my only wish to is to make them proud by advancing their research into science!

Suddenly, alarms started blaring and red warning light began flashing rapidly in the bridge. "Geoff! What's going on?!" I asking in a bit of a panic.

[Warning. Unfamiliar energy source detected. The hull has been breached. Locating the nearest habitable planet to safely land. Success. The planet is the source of the unfamiliar energy. Landing is not recommended. The next nearest habitable planet is thirteen light sectors away. Overriding command protocol. Forcefully landing on the unfamiliar energy's host planet.]

I sat and stared at the ginormous waves of dark blue and light blue energy that were engulfing a planet. It looked eerily similar to my homeworld, Earth. It would seem that whatever those two waves were formed from, were powerful enough to damage my ship which was hand built by my father and piloted by my personal A.I, Geoff, who was created by my mother.

I knew something about today was special, but honestly, I would have prefered it if Geoff had proposed to me, over crash-landing on an unknown planet!
