Sin

Stewart "Reco"

I swung back around to the principal long after both Victor's parents left. I knew what I had to do, despite how evil it truly was. Moving with a solemn slow strut I made my way to the principal office. Knocked on the door, I entered with a slow breath. The principal had been moving to head to his home. I had to convince him to keep Victor. The sudden change would cause too many problems and, worse, aggravate them. This would-be annoying and slightly illegal but in the face of dark gods, anything is acceptable.

“Good evening sir I have a request,” I said with a serpent smile. “It is essential and I need your ok on this”

The principal eyes narrowed, looking back at me with guard suspicion. I informed him about the broad strokes of what was happening. Of course, the cover story was about a school shooter and the chief suspects had been Victor and those monsters.

“Make it quick I need to go.” the principal said with a puff.

“I need you to let Victor come back to school early. “ I said in my best professional tone.

This gave the principal pause. It was such a shock that he turned to face me scowling. He knew it was going to be a long talk and it was also going to be annoying. Silently he moved back to his chair and gestured to another chair in the room. I followed silently as I hoped my bragging skills would be enough.

“This better be damned good. Why the hell should I let that berserker back into my school ?” He began leaning back into his chair.

“Well, I need him for the investigation into the school shooting. We have evidence to believe there is a ring of people supplying the shooters.” I said coldly. “With him staying, flush out the target who has been giving the weapons to kids.”

“Wait a moment. You said the four from Class 2b were the prime suspects. Why should I remove the one who acted out? I understand the Olsen brothers were an issue, but Victor's reaction was nothing more than a reason for removing him. Then there is that family.” He scowled, shuddering. “I don’t know which is worse, the berserker or the other ones. Nothing too unoriginal, but something about them rubs me the wrong way.”

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

That was expected because the briefing mentioned the fact they would have that effect on people. It was like a cat sensing the weather; even if you couldn’t fully explain it something was wrong with them. It made them difficult to hide, but strangely it helped them blend in with society. It was the slight wrinkle that helped them avoid coming off too clean.

“I understand that but they must be in this class. We are close but we don’t have the proof to finish this investigation. So I am requesting Victor van Highsing to be placed back into the system and to have full control over him. “ I said looking at the principal with a controlled tone.

I needed to play this right, and hopefully, just words would be enough. But if that was not possible, I had other weird methods of getting my way.

“Are you insane? I would take them out of my school, and you can take them and your investigation somewhere. I am sick of this. This investigation was annoying and is putting all the other students at risk. For the good of anyone, please take those people out of my damn school.” The principal spoke in a slowly escalating rage.

It was understandable, in his position I would request the same. But I didn’t have the luxury of understanding and the stakes are much more than his pay grade. Rubbing my templates I briefly contemplated my opinions. Maybe I could work something out but the principal had a point. It was a risk and a truly dangerous one. But it would be worse for them to walk away this would be much, much worse. So with a heavy heart, I committed myself to an unforgivable sin.

“That is true but I need you to read something,” I said, pulling out my phone. “It is of the utmost importance”

“Fine, but it better make sure those people get out of my school. “ The principal puffed.

Quickly scrolling I placed it onto a picture of the stone tablet. Clicking on the photo, I handed the phone over to the principal. His eyes glanced at the picture shock, dancing across his face.

“Is this some kind of-” His eyes rolled back into his head, as he slipped back into his chair. His hands are limp as he groans mindlessly. Ragged breaths came from the man as he struggled to stay alive, his mind reeling from the blow. It was my time to strike. Standing up, I spoke.

“You will let them in. You will no longer bother that family. Victor did the right thing and you will give him to Mr Reco in fact that group will join him in the bird watching club. THIS IS A COMMAND YOU CAN NOT DISOBEY. You will do this without remembering this talk. “ I spoke using the tablet's dark powers for my gain.

I then sat back down facing the principal, taking a breath. It was a cruel thing, but it had to be done. So with a clap, I woke the principal. He leaped up with a yelp, coughing as he stared at me. A light-fading green glow in his eyes as he looked at me.

“You were assigning me to Victor and Mangalex siblings to the bird-watching club. Alright then.” I spoke.

“Ah yes, that… I will do that. I feel tired. I should go now,” the principal whimpered as he stood up.

He seemed disheveled and tired, black bags forming under his eyes as he struggled to stand. I could see a sickly green tone on his skin a faint stink came off the man, and even his teeth lost their luster becoming ill yellow-coated.

“Of course,” I said, shaking his hand and sealing the effects on the man.

Without a word, I left him. Perhaps it was guilt or shame it didn’t matter if it kept us alive then I would do worse.
